N10.9bn Fraud: Court Jails Ex-Finbank MD, Nwosu, Three Others

Justice Lateefa A. Okunnu of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, convicted and sentenced Okey Nwosu, a former Managing Director, Finbank Plc, to three years imprisonment for over 10m fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had arraigned Nwosu alongside Dayo Famuroti, Agnes Ebubedike and Danjuma Ocholi on a 26-count amended charge bordering on stealing and illegal conversion to the tune of N10,934,704,402.

The defendants, who perpetrated the fraud while they were directors of the bank, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them, thereby leading to their full trial.

In the course of the trial, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, called witnesses and also tendered several documents that were admitted in evidence against the defendants.

During today’s proceedings, the witness narrated how Onyung had approached the Commission after she was defrauded by Amusan.

The petitioner alleged that her company had issued the sum of N260 million to Amusan's company for the purchase of 3, 250litres of diesel (AGO), which was never delivered.

First up, my heart goes out to ‘Angela’s’ child. It is exactly *because* of parents like this, that Gillick exists - to allow young people body autonomy and agency over their own lives SEPARATE from controlling parents!

She’s right - she absolutely HAS taken away her child’s rights. Not only that, she’s also taken away the rights of THOUSANDS of other children and their parents to make choices about what’s right for them!

And all because she can’t handle the thought of her child being trans.

A thread of the known timeline of the #nashvilleexplosion. At 1:22am on Christmas this RV was first recorded by surveillance cameras on Second Avenue in downtown Nashville. It then parked on the west side of the street right next to the AT&T Data Center. @NC5 1/15

At around 5:30am downtown residents heard gunfire on Second Avenue and calls were made to police. A short time later came another round of gunfire. When police responded they found the RV playing a recorded warning that there was a bomb inside. 2/15
