Pulakeshin of the Chalukya dynasty ruling at Navsarika (modern-day Navsari) was one among several Hindu rulers who successfully defeated marauding Islamic invaders.

The Navsari branch of Chalukyas were related to and vassals of the Chalukyas of Vatapi (Badami). They ruled over parts of modern-day Gujarat and Maharashtra, to be precise southern Gujarat (Lata), Nashik region, and northern Konkan.

This region was brought under the Chalukyan rule by Vikramaditya I of the Vatapi Chalukya who then made his brother Dharashraya Jayasimha (Jayasimhavarman) the governor. Navsarika was the capital of this region.

Pulakeshin, son of Dharashraya Jayasimhavarman, became the ruler in 731 CE corresponding to the rule of Vatapi Chalukya Vikramaditya II. Pulakeshin, who later earned the title Avanijanashraya, defeated the invading Arab Ummayeds in a fierce battle at Navsari.

Information regarding this important battle came to light when the Navsari plate of Raja Pulakeshin was discovered. According to this plate, the battle with the Tajika army is said to have taken place in the year 490 of the Kalachuri Era roughly corresponding to 739 CE

Nicolas Darvas (1920 – 1977) was a professional dancer and he travelled around the world. He founded a Dance company in 1950s. Someone offered him shares against his Dance programme and that is how he came across stock market and the business of trading.

He reportedly turned thousand dollars into millions in the late 1950s.

He wrote a popular book during 1960 “How I made $2000000 in Stock Market” in which he explained his Box theory. It is a must read.

He used a combination fundamental and technical approach for investing.

He believed in investing in only growth stocks. I think he did not explain a few things in his book, and I found some difference in interpretation of box-theory at various places because of that. This post is my interpretation of his theory.

Darvas was tracking stocks only making new high. I do not think he really talked about 52-week high. He mentioned about stocks breaking 2-3 year high. But 52-week high is mostly tracked for this theory so let us keep it that way to begin with for the sake of objectivity.

Well, folks, the reason I haven’t been sharing many short clips from my morning readings lately is that, well, I’m in chapters 11-17 of Ezekiel. They involve complicated visions that don’t lend themselves to Twitter threads. But at the end of my reading today in Ezek 17,

God delivered a word to the prophet depicting a theme that may be uncomfortable but it’s not incomprehensible.

“I bring down the tall tree and make the low tree tall. I cause the green tree to wither and make the withered tree thrive. I, the Lord, have spoken and I will do it.”

God’s got this thing about pride. He does not let it go unchecked. When his people continue in arrogance after multiple warnings, he is going to bring them down. He will turn the tables. That which has been high will be brought low. This is why we are told by both James and Peter

in the NT that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. We need his grace so badly. Repentance is our only real way forward. He also views idolatry as spiritual adultery. This was the case in the judgment that was coming to his people through the Babylonians.

We are caught in a cycle. We keep repeating the same offenses and keep excusing them the exact same ways. Study even just the last century. I beg you to. Face how we evangelicals have bedded down with worldly systems for power. See how every time prophetic voices confronted us

Anga had a son named Ven.
The sages had churned the right hand of Ven to produce a son named Vainya.
He later on became renowned as Prithu. He had even milked the earth for the benefit of his subjects."

Maitreya says- "Why did the sages churn Ven’s hand? What was their purpose of getting Prithu?"

Parashar says- "Mrityu had his first child as a daughter named Sunitha who was married to Anga. Sunitha had given birth to Ven.

Ven had all the faults of his maternal grandfather Mrityu and hence was devil-like in nature."
At the time of his coronation, Ven had declared-

"I am the God and the Yagyapurush. Hence, in future, no one shall perform Yagyas and donate Dakshina."

He was posted at Kadapa where ppl dissuaded him from visiting Sringeri since it was far.

Similarly whenever he wanted to visit Sringeri his friends and relatives dissuaded him saying Sringeri was a small hamlet amidst jungles. bathing in tunga would be bad for his health, lots of wild animals on the way etc. which put a fear in him about visiting Sringeri.

THE ORIGIN OF SHIVA SUTRAS

In the valley of Kashmir from 860-925 AD, lived Vasugupta. He was recognized as an enlightened master, and a man who possessed superior knowledge and wisdom.

Fully God-realized, he was filled with a tremendous purity of heart and was intensely devoted to the Lord Shiva, the Supreme Maheshvara. One night Lord Shiva infused a dream into Vasugupta’s consciousness for the purpose of restoring those secret teachings that

had been lost to the world even in Vasugupta’s time. The dream revealed the existence of a large special rock at the foot of Mahadeva Mountain.

Shiva told Vasugupta to go that rock and lift it, for underneath a great esoteric teaching would be found inscribed into it.

Vasugupta awoke and set off to search for this sacred rock. Upon finding the rock nestled on the side of a small stream, he touched it and the mere touch of his hand caused the huge rock to at once turn over - and written on it there underneath were the Shiva Sutras.

He was filled with wonder and joy. He began to study these sutras and over time absorbed them and shared them with his best students, always remembering that in the dream Shiva had cautioned him to reveal them only to those who are fit for grace. So it was then, so it is now.

Laxmana was hurt after the battle with Indrajit,son of Ravana.He was wounded badly.Hanuman approached the Royal Physician Sushena for advice.Sushena asked Hanuman to rush to Dronagiri Hills and fetch four important plants.

4 plants/herbs:-Mrutha sanjeevani (restorer of life), Vishalyakarani (remover of arrows), Sandhanakarani (restorer of the skin) and Savarnyakarani (restorer of skin colour)

Hanuman flew across the ocean n reaches the dronagiri hills &since he couldn’t identify the specific herbs,he uproots the dronagiri hill &brings it back in time to save laxman.
What happened in hills:-
Ravana heard from his spies that hanuman has went in search of medicinal herb.

So Ravana sent his uncle Kalanemi to stop or delay Hanuman at any cost. Kalanemi disguises as a Rishi welcomes Hanuman in his asharam in the hills & then he persuades Hanuman to have a bath in a pond.

This was my first duty assignment. But my first is not important as the first African-American who served as CCDG2's Commanding Officer prior to my arrival, Rear Admiral Samuel L. Gravely, Jr. He was a trailblazer. He was commissioned an Ensign on November 14, 1944. /2

He enlisted and then became one of the first commissioned African-American officers in the US Navy. He was denied housing and even jailed for impersonating an officer. He withstood a cavalcade of abuse and racism and still managed to rise through the ranks of the Navy. /3

He became the first to serve under combat conditions during WW2. He served during the Korean & Vietnam War. He was the first to command a fighting vessel, and commander of the 3rd fleet. He served as Communications officer on the USS IOWA BB-61 /4

He served as the first African-American to command (USS Theodore E. Chandler (DD 717)); command a major warship (USS Jouett (DLG 29)) - and was the first African-American to achieve the rank of Captain in 1967. /5
