Story 24 - it is about why Nataraja in Velliyambalam/Silver Dance Hall changed his pose to stand on left leg & raise right leg.
கால் மாறி ஆடிய படலம்
https://t.co/zKRhn38Jbi
He was very devoted towards Chokkanathar & Velliyambalam Nataraja who is Supreme master of Dance/Bharatam
During that time,Chola kingdom was ruled by Karikala Cholan. He was a great king&he patronized all art forms. He has learnt all 64 art forms.
One Shivratri day, when he went to Alayam to do puja. After doing puja,he went to have darshan of Velliyambalam Nataraja.
With bhakti he told 'Please change your posture stand on left leg and lift your right leg.Accept this request or I will kill myself. '
At that moment,Nataraja changed his pose with left leg on ground & raised his right leg.Rajasekara Pandyan was overwhelmed with this darshan& requested Nataraja to remain in this same posture in Velliyambalam.
Usually Nataraja sculptures that we see will have left leg raised.
Even today we can have darshan of Nataraja with right leg raised in Velliyambalam inside Sundareswarar Sannathi of Madurai Meenakshi Amman Kovil.
Om Namah Shivaya 🙏
