Today I'm just quotating someone's words. Let's see how many of us recognise this man.

Real Hero of Bharat!

 At about 2.30 in the afternoon, General Sir Roy Bucher walked into my room and said, "Eh, you, go and pick up your toothbrush. You are going to Srinagar with V P Menon. The flight will take off at about 4 o'clock". I said, "why me, sir?"
We are worried about the military situation. V P Menon is going there to get the accession from the Maharaja. I flew in with V P Menon in a Dakota. Wng Cdr Dewan, was also there. But his job did not have anything to do with assessing the military situation.
He was sent by the Air Force because it was the Air Force which was flying us in.

Since I was in the Directorate of Military Operations, and was responsible for current operations all over India, West Frontier, the Punjab, etc, I knew what the situation in Kashmir was.
I knew that the tribesmen had come in - initially only the tribesmen - supported by the Pakistanis.
Fortunately for us, and for Kashmir, they were busy raiding, raping all along. In Baramulla they killed Colonel Dykes.
Tom and his wife were holidaying in Baramulla when the tribesmen killed them.

The Maharaja's forces were 50% Muslim & 50% Dogra. The Muslim elements had revolted and joined the Pakistani forces. This was the broad military situation.
THE TRIBESMEN WERE BELIEVED TO BE ABOUT 7-9 KMS FROM SRINAGAR. I was sent in to get the precise military situation. The army knew that if we had to send soldiers, we would have to fly them in.
Therefore, a few days before, we had made arrangements for aircraft and for soldiers to be ready.

But we couldn't fly them in until the state of Kashmir had acceded to India.
From the political side, Sardar Patel and V P Menon had been dealing with Mahajan and the Maharaja, and the idea was that V.P Menon would get the accession, I would bring back the military appreciation and report to the government.
The troops were already at the airport, ready to be flown in. Air Chief Marshall Elmhurst was the air chief and he had made arrangements for the aircraft from civil and military sources.

Anyway, we were flown in.
We went to Srinagar. We went to the palace. I have never seen such disorganisation in my life.

The Maharaja was coming out of one room, & going into another saying, "Alright, if India doesn't help, I will go & join my troops and fight (it) out".
I couldn't restrain myself, & said, "That will raise their morale sir".

Eventually, I also got the military situation from everybody around us, asking what the hell was happening, & discovered that the tribesmen were about 7-9 km from what was then that horrible little airfield.
V P Menon was in the meantime discussing with Mahajan and the Maharaja. Eventually the Maharaja signed the accession papers and we flew back in the Dakota late at night.

On arriving at Delhi, the first thing I did was to go and report to Sir Roy Bucher.
He said, "Eh, you, go and shave and clean up. There is a cabinet meeting at 9 o'clock. I will pick you up and take you there." So I went home, shaved, dressed, etc. and Roy Bucher picked me up, and we went to the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet meeting was presided by Mountbatten. There was Jawaharlal Nehru, there was Sardar Patel, there was Sardar Baldev Singh. There were other ministers whom I did not know and did not want to know, because I had nothing to do with them.
At the morning meeting V P Menon handed over the accession. Mountbatten turned around and said, "come on Manekji, what is the military situation?"

I gave him the military situation, and told him THAT UNLESS WE FLEW IN TROOPS IMMEDIATELY, WE WOULD HAVE LOST SRINAGAR.
Going by road would take days, and once the tribesmen got to the airport and Srinagar, we couldn't fly troops in. Everything was ready at the airport.

AS USUAL NEHRU TALKED ABOUT THE United Nations, Russia, Africa, God almighty, everybody, until Sardar Patel lost his temper.
He said, "Jawaharlal, do you want Kashmir, or do you want to give it away'. Nehru said, "Of course, I want Kashmir". Then Patel said "Please give your orders".

AND BEFORE NEHRU COULD SAY ANYTHING SARDAR PATEL TURNED TO ME AND SAID, "YOU HAVE GOT YOUR ORDERS".
I walked out, and we started flying in troops at about 11 o'clock or 12 o'clock. I think it was the Sikh regiment under Ranjit Rai that was the first lot to be flown in. And then we continued flying troops in. Then all the fighting took place.

And the person I quoted was none other than Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, India's greatest military commander.

Again it gives a high. The habit might begin with a friend suggesting a way to relax after a rigorous period of studying or from information gleaned online or from the peer group.

India’s Pokhran test in 1974 triggered the arms race between India & Pak. Being very wary of India’s fledging nuclear capabilities, Pak sought any help needed to build nuclear weapons for itself.

Operation Kahuta, one of the deadliest missions of RAW was launched in 1974 with the motive to locate and confirm the existence of the Pak’s secret weapons program.

It took around a decade for RAW to build a network within Pak under the leadership of RN Kao.

Priority of RAW was to pin point the location of the missile production facility. It is important to remember that Pak kept this so close under wraps that even with the extensive network, RAW got only rumours.

RAW established a good network inside Pakistan by late 1970’s.

A stunning intelligence operation was carried out by RAW in which they stole the hair samples from the barber shops in Kahuta where the nuclear scientists would come for hair cut.

The samples were analysed for radiation traces.

When Dr.Abdul Kalam was the President, he visited Coonoor. On reaching, he came to know that Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw was in the Military Hospital there. Dr.Kalam wanted to visit Sam, which was unscheduled. Arrangements were made.

At the bedside, Kalam spent abt 15 minutes talking to Sam & enquiring abt his health.

Just before leaving Kalam asked Sam "Are you comfortable? Is there anything I could do? Do you have any Grievance ? or any requirement that would make you more comfortable?"

Sam said "Yes Your Excellency, I have one grievance". Shocked with concern & anguish , APJ asked him what it was .

Sam replied "Sir, my grievance is that I am not able to get up & salute the most respected President of my beloved country".

But the remaining part of the tale with regards to this meeting is the most essential part.

In Punjab, among those who are aware of the history of revolutionary movement against the British Empire, the names of 3 Maharashtrian men are taken with special respect.

Savarkar, Rajguru & the generally little-known martyr, Vishnu Ganesh Pingale.

Actually, Pingale was one of those who had inspired Bhagat Singh, as Bhagat Singhji's diaries show.

Pingale was born on Jan 2, 1889 in Maharashtra & was hanged to death at Lahore on Nov 16, 1915.

Along with Lala Hardayal, and Dr.  Khankhoje, he formed a revolutionary organization in the US, called the 'Ghadar Party'.

A man with great organisational skills, intelligence, & dynamism apart from his native Marathi, he had mastered Hindi, English, Urdu and Punjabi.

While at school, dressed as a Sadhu, Pingale had traveled all over India. This art of disguise later became very useful to him as a revolutionary.

He earned a mechanical engineering degree while in the US.

As the 1st World War raged,Pingale came to India with the aim of liberating the country through armed revolution

He traveled throughout the Punjab region & met various revolutionaries.
He further traveled to Calcutta, Benaras & other places inviting people to join the revolution

Devi/Devtas at the spiritual level, are forms or manifestations of God or Ishvara, the Cosmic Lord and Creator, representing his powers, qualities or various ways of imagining him. They are the principles of Bhakti Yoga.


There exists a yet higher level of Consciousness, all Devis and Devtas are forms or aspects of Brahman, the impersonal Godhead (Cosmic Intelligence /Aakashik field) behind and beyond the manifest universe. They are powers of Gyana Yoga.


The divine trinity are the Creator (Brahma), Perserver (Vishnu) and Dissolver (Shiva) or the three aspects of Ishvara relative to the gunas of rajas, Sattva and tamas.

Yet of the three, it is Shiva that is the closest to Brahman.


In this regard, Shiva is Nirguna Brahman, beyond all manifestation, Vishnu is Ishvara, God or Saguna Brahman as the ruler of the universe, and Brahma is Mahat Tattva or cosmic mind.


Similar is for Sarasvati, Lakshmi and Kali, it is Kali that is the closest to Brahman and a personification of it.

Kali is Brahman’s supreme power or unlimited Shakti – the power of pure power of existence, which as the infinite and eternal exists behind space and time.

1)King Porus was a famous Indian king, his real name was #Purushotama. He belonged to PURU tribe mentioned in #RIG_VEDA, the Ancient books of India.


2) Porus ruled the Punjab region and expanded his kingdom between the Jhelum River and Chenab River in the Indian Subcontinent. He was a legendary warrior and more war skills. He made the army most powerful with war skills. Even Alexander had also made difficulty to defeat Porus.

3)Word of Mouth Oral tradition in #Mohyal_Brahmin families since ancient times has kept the Great Saga of their Great Elder known to them as Maharaja “ #Puru” alive.

4) When #Alexander the Great invaded India in 326 BC he was challenged near Taxila by a mere chieftain of the Area. He was King #Porus, a #Vaid_Mohyal. After his encounter with Porus, Alexander met with more resistance near Multan where the forces were predominantly #Mohyal.

5)The Bali rulers of Multan fiercely engaged with Alexander's army in skirmishes in which many senior Generals died. Later during the long and bitter fighting in #Multan, Alexander got hurt by an arrow which pierced his chest ,

Some quick thoughts on Sam Gyimah's resignation after conversations with various Conservative MPs: 1) the chances of a second referendum are a lot higher than I thought:

2) At this point, if you are a young and ambitious Tory MP it is now so overwhelmingly in your interest to vote against the withdrawal agreement. V v hard to see how Julian Smith can cap rebellion at under 100:

3) Really just to reiterate 1) Gyimah is the kind of "No, never gonna rebel" vaguely pro-EU Tory you'd need to get on side to outweigh Labour Leavers and Real Concerners.
