Can anyone fathom out how weapons like this make their way into the hands of terrorists in Nigeria?

These weapons are in boxes marked with serial numbers. Where there are serial numbers there are invoices or receipts. Which means it was imported. This is worrisome and raise questions about where the terror groups are sourcing their heavy weapons.
Weapons proliferation was once linked to the fall of Gadaffi. Libya was at one point the main source of arms to terror groups on the continent. For those unaware of the dynamics ill give a brief explanation:
When NATO bombed the crap out of the Gadaffi regime in 2011, Libya lost control of a large part of the stockpile it had amassed in over 40 years. The CIA made several calls for ground troops to be deployed to secure Gadaffi's amoury from falling into the hand of rebel groups.
The French kicked against sending ground troops, saying it will give the impression Libya was under a NATO occupation, Its just not worth the political capital to do so. The CIA made this call TWICE and TWICE it was shut down. The logic was securing those sites
is not worth the political capital and controversy it might lead to. Hence its best to fold arms and watch terrorist groups lay hold on nearly half a century worth of weapons to kill innocent people. This wicked/evil inconsiderate decision and the transfer
of those weapons strengthened armed rebel movements on an apocalyptic scale. It facilitated the acquisition of arms by terror groups such as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa and dozens of splinter groups operating in the Sahel region.
The arms trafficking networks continue to exploit this channel to obtain arms.

But this is beyond Libya now. We now have an arms trafficking industry targeting Nigeria. The Nigerian military has strengthened its operational capability. Morale among troops is high.
But this is not enough. Curbing weapons proliferation should be the top priority of the Nigerian government. If not we will find ourselves in a long drawn out bitter war of attrition.

After the September 11 attacks in New York the U.S government created ''Homeland Security''
a purpose built service created to keep the American homeland safe. The Nigerian government should create a border security force. If Nigeria can create two separate arms of the military (Army Cyberwarfare Command & National Space Defence Administration) i see no reason
a border security force should not be created given the security imperative i.e a porous border and clandestine activities by neighbours who are being used by a colonial power in a behind the scene proxy war against the country their threaten their domination of West Africa.
When Cameroonian Gendarmes began attacking Nigerian communities in the early 90s Nigeria's Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida created a crack squard of men drawn from Nigerian Immigration Service, gave them guns and put them on a one month training regime.
as that was going on he ordered dozens of speedboats for the immigration officers and basically created an independent borders security force in the Bakassi peninsula. Turned out to be very effective. We cannot have the Nigerian army doing the job of Mobile policemen,
community security and border patrol. Heck the United States government created ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) with a mission to protect America from the cross border crime, illegal immigration and other activities threaten national security and public safety.
If i were President i will create a border security force with a workforce numbering 10,000 or more, to stand at the forefront of our nation's efforts to strengthen border security and prevent the illegal movement of people, weapons into Nigeria. Nigeria accounts for %80 of the
500 million illegal firearms in West Africa. Securing our nation's borders and safeguarding the integrity of our territory should be the primary focus of Abuja, not building rail lines to a country that has not shown the willingness or political will to clamp down on the
lucrative weapons smuggling industry on their soil. These terrorists try to protect their marketers by making claims their war effort is been facilitated by weapons ceased from the Nigerian army.
