 It appears that every time an under-age Transgender person attempts to access medical care to make their lives better conservative people try to say they’re not ready for it.
As an older transgender woman who waited until I my mid 30’s due to those same prevailing attitudes, I feel it’s sad right-wing people are still trotting out those same tired old lines.
According to them, we’re too young to know our gender pre-pubescent and when we start undergoing a puberty which doesn’t align with our gender identity apparently we’re still far too young to access puberty blockers to make the masculinisation process go away.
These people only want us to access medical care after the age of 18 and that’s when it’s far too late for many Trans women, as the whole masculinisation process [which we didn’t want in the first place] has already happened.
Cruelly in adulthood after all of the above has been thrown at us we’re told to “face facts”, as they say we’re really men and not woman and if we were truly transgender we’d have said something when we were younger.
So in essence we can’t win, as it’s catch 22 and we’re damned if we do and we’re damned if we don’t transition when we’re younger.
The real truth is that people like Scott Morrison who hold this point of view never want transgender people to live out their gender truth in the public domain.

Out of sight, out of mind.
If these irrational ”gender whisperer” fears were remotely true wouldn’t we have thousands of trans people of all ages crying out for help because some school teacher or doctor tricked us into being trans?
Trans people do have a growing number of fair-minded allies and we’re not confused with our gender identities, but there are still so many who question our legitimacy and some of these people just happen to be our parents, sisters, brothers, ....
school mates, teachers, coaches, our religious clergy and especially our politicians that are confused and need the education.
Fifty six studies that consist of primary research on this topic, of which 52 (93 per cent) found that gender transition improves the overall well-being of transgender people, while 4 (7 per cent) report mixed or null findings.

Despite everyone, everywhere telling Trans folk like me all throughout our childhoods & adult lives we were the gender we were assigned at birth, trans folk remain fixed in their gender and this is despite all of the hardships, ....
all the losses & difficulty a transperson will most often remain resolute and transition at some point in their lives.
This is because nothing can change our gender and to be forced to live in the wrong gender and for many trans folk, to have bodily features which don’t conform to their gender is an ongoing source of extreme suffering.
Thinking about your own gender identity for a minute: If somebody forced gender confirmation surgery and hormone therapy upon you in your childhood or teen years, you would move Heaven and Earth [pardon the religious pun] to regain your true gender identity.
It’s the very same for us having to live in the gender we don’t identify as. 
It’s very clear that many hold a position is similar to our current Prime Minister in Scott Morrison.
He added his two bobs’ worth to the gender whisperers story in the Daily Telegraph with his “let kids be kids” tweet.
They want to take us back to the 1970s when I was growing up and force trans people underground, but the saddest thing of all is these people have such a media presence and voice while the true medical experts are left silenced as they don’t have the same media connections.
But the saddest and most shameful fact of all is that Morrison is lagging so far behind science and world’s best practice.

I jumped in my time-machine & landed in the middle of the 2035 World Athletics Championships in Paris.

It was 800 metres finals day, but to my surprise, there were 5 races scheduled, not two.
1-

On inquiring, I learnt there had been a shake-up: the "men's" and "women's" classifications were no more; instead the classification system changed to one that was based on functional ability.

Rather than labelling athletes as male or female , they were placed in a racing category based on the movements their body can perform, related to the sport they compete in.

There are many factors that significantly affect the competitive edge in sport such as nutrition, age, height, weight, coaching & training facilities, & other genetic and biological variations like oxygen-carrying capacity.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that if Semenya wanted to continue to compete, she would be required to take medications to lower it.

Criminalisation of drug use results in the mass incarceration of people who use drugs. Illicit drug offences represent the second most common offence for custodial sentences in Australia.

Beating the drug epidemic is going to take a holistic approach.There is no one-fit all solution to the scourge of drugs it has to be a combination of education, good parenting,mental health services, better rehab facilities in our regions & prisons & getting tough on dealers.

Harm minimisation programs such as pill testing and safe injecting rooms & needle exchange programs won't solve the drug epidemic but they do save lives, they do make the community safer & they minimise the harm to the drug user, their families & the community.

Once a drug addict arrived at my prison the damage has already been done to the addict, to the families of the addict and to the community.

We don't need issues like this to become a political point scoring debates. Whilst our politicians continue to ignore that harm minimisation programs work young people continue to die from bad pills at music events and from dirty needles.

Would having the testosterone limit for transgender women at 10nmol/L (5-10 times what’s considered “typical” for women) give them a massive advantage over their cisgender opponents?


Absolutely not, is recognized an XY chromosome body is seen as unhealthy <12nmol/L or less. A XY female as they lose the ability to produce natural occurring testosterone, falls into a range of 0.4nmol/L.

Which we know too, the individual falls into menopause at 9.6nmol/L, and due to complete androgen deprivation eventually into the position of that would equate a XX female = who had had a complete hysterectomy including her gonads.

We can be assured, one this is extremely unhealthy – Moreover, and most important, we can be assured that there are no women either XX and or XY competing internationally like this.

This is not for anyone a desired state and for the participation high performance sport eventually impossible to participate longterm.

There is no other story that incites more hate then a story about a transgender person participating in sport, with the exception of stories relating to transgender bathroom use or in President Trumps World his hate for transgender people serving in the military.

Let’s remove the words transgender, Laurel, Hannah or Mack Beggs out of the conversation for a minute and let’s look at some of the medical consequences that occur when an XY male suffers low levels of testosterone.

When a man has low testosterone, or hypogonadism, he may experience:
-Reduced sex drive
-Erectile dysfunction
-Low sperm count
-Enlarged or swollen breast tissue

Over time, these symptoms may develop in the following ways:
-Loss of body hair
-Loss of muscle bulk
-Loss of strength
-Increased body fat
Chronic, or ongoing, low testosterone may lead to osteoporosis, mood swings, reduced energy, and testicular shrinkage.

None of these medical consequences are performance enhancing. No castrated XY male has ever broken a world record or even competed at the elite level of sports.

I had the most bizarre experience outside of a bar yesterday, which my partner very aptly described as "toxic mask-unlinity." (A Thread.)

I was standing outside, waiting for a lyft to get home, when two cis men came out of the bar to smoke cigarettes. They're discussing the masks that folks are wearing in California at the moment because of the very dangerous air pollution from the fires happening.

I happen to be wearing one of those masks, because I think lungs are important and I like breathing. I dunno. One of the men notices me standing there, and says, "Like this f*cker right here. What is this shit?"

He goes on a homophobic rant about me, the pansy with a mask, and what a Very Manly Man he is because he's not afraid to smoke a pack of cigarettes while California is on fire. He doesn't need a mask, because something-something-heterosexual-something.

And part of me is just... impressed by the fact that this dude thinks he's Owning The Gay Libs by not wearing a mask to protect his lungs from smoke and particles in the air that are literally DANGEROUS... while chain-smoking. Outside of a bar.
