Rule 1⃣: Define your Trading/Investing Style

You can be a
➡️ Long term investor
➡️ Positional trader
➡️ Swing trader
➡️ Intraday trader

Let's take the example of a Positional trader for this 🧵

Rule 2⃣: Identify the LONG TERM TREND on Monthly charts!

The long term chart helps you identify the long term trend & pivotal points in trend changes

In the below #NEULAND chart, you can see the stock has been in a long term uptrend since 2001.

Rule3⃣: Wait for a BUY SIGNAL on the Weekly chart!

In this chart once you get a buy signal on CCI and RS, take a look at the chart and you will observe the change in trend and breakout.

Now you know this is probably a resumption of the long term trend that started in 2001.

Rule 4⃣: Now it is time to hit that 'BUY' button.

But how to IDENTIFY THE ENTRY POINT?

Switch to the 'Daily' chart & buy either on

➡️Retest of breakout zone
➡️Or on the breakout after a short consolidation after 3-5 days

The best traders take advantage of alternate entries to build positions before a stock becomes obvious to the crowd.

Here are 7 lesser known Chart Patterns that are a MUST in any trader's tool box 🧵👇

#1: Alternate Pivots

Alternate pivots offer earlier entries when compared to regular pivots.

These pivots are important because:

▪️ They offer the same if not better R/R then regular pivots
▪️ Less volatility around these areas
▪️ Allow you to start positions EARLIER

#2: High Volume Close (HVC)

The HVC is created from a big volume gap up.

The close of this day is an important point for institutions to support.

If institutions are in supporting this point, price should be very responsive - making it a great, lower risk entry.

#3: Pivot Retest

The pivot retest setup happens when price retests the prior support/resistance point & then rallies back through.

This can be a powerful setup as it acts as a 'shakeout' and reverses higher with stronger hands holding the name.

#4: In The Wick Setup

We are looking for stocks that open in the wick of the prior session's bar.

The buy trigger is when price moves through the prior day's high.

The stop loss should be the low of the current day.

Ur trading system should contain 2 parts
1. Define context
2. Entry exit set up and rules

When u define the context u are essentially removing all the trades which are against the trend.
Suppose u objectively found trend is Bullish with any tools of ur choice. Then all the shorting signals ur entry exit method generates can be avoided

The tools u use to define the context of the major trend can b anything
1. Supertrend positive
2. Price > EMA 20 > EMA 50
3. MACD abv zero and abv signal line
4. Price and rising vwap
5. Price is riding through upper Bollinger Band since last >20 bars

This is one part of defining the context. Now how about ensuring the trend in this TF is same as the one from HTF as well??
This will add lots of odds in trade success.
Suppose ur trading TF is 5min, then a check up in 25min TF is highly desirable.

If 25min TF too is Bullish, the the context is defined completely. But how to define trend in 25min TF ??

One method as follows
1. Last 25min candle has abv average volume and abv average spread with a close near high

Use Weekly chart
Plot Bollinger Bands with 50,2 setting
Locate when ever price hit lower band
Locate the highest swing high befoire the fall
The period in between is bear market
