The nuance of this issue is that while the left positions all of this as an organized, massive movement of white supremacists in the traditional way of understanding them, their attempt at 'multiracial whiteness' demonstrates how they are struggling to manage the complexity.

Trump was the catalyst.

He represented to many people a key figure in an historic narrative and that created a massive divide with passions running high.

He exaggerated this due to his nature.
We can't escape that.

But without him, the hysteria will continue.

Its not Trump.

White supremacist thinking became nearly extinct as society moved beyond the idea of race and encouraged race neutrality.

The reality is white racism, which was a specific and cultural mindset, inspired a reactionary black identity movement in the 60's and 70's.

Remember, the left believes Trump was the result of rightwing hate being allowed to share platforms with civil, good and decent truth-telling people (them)

Since Fox News started they have wailed at the existence of conservative media as dangerous to the country.

I remember the Pulse terrorist attack vividly.
I remember walking into work and seeing the quiet, concerned look on my coworker's faces unsure of what to say or do.
I remember my friends calling me to ask if I was ok and suddenly feeling like the LGBT community was one.

The issue conservatives have is not what the left is doing to themselves, but what they're imposing onto us.

Progressive policies force compliance, they don't unite or persuade or offer.

They use the full force of government to make you do what they believe is best.

We should stop confusing what someone was doing when we became aware of them with all they are capable of, interested in, or ever hope to be

Let folks have their many talents, interests and gifts. Life is far more fun with variety, loves.

A lot of folks have come to know me as an activist & I’m grateful that folks care to know me at all.

But I wasn’t born in 2014. I was a whole teacher, executive, policy person, speaker, arts and culture lover, reader, writer, woman of faith, fashion and more before 4 yrs ago 🤷🏾‍♀️

We rightfully complain that marginalized people are not allowed to be fully human.

But we internalize and transfer our oppression daily. It’s a smog. We all breathe it in & act it out.

And then tell WoC “girl ain’t you supposed to be a _______? Why you doing ____?”

Can I live?

And don’t go reading anything personal into this-this isn’t about me necessarily and it’s no subtweet (I try hard not to do that.)

I’ve just been observing that behavior more and more lately. Especially when it comes to marginalized folks.

Evolution should be our aspiration.

“Can’t knock the hustle” should be our anthem.

As long as someone isn’t bringing active and continual harm, why can’t they explore their many sides?

Remember: Just because an idea is old doesn't mean it's good.

Knowing whether old ideas are more likely to be good requires understanding whether conditions have changed in important ways.

Horse archery was an amazing method of warfare for over a thousand years...then people invented guns, and suddenly this great idea that had stood the test of time became obsolete.

Then again, when underlying conditions don't change much, tried-and-true approaches are probably better.

"Learning the lessons of history" usually just means assuming ergodicity and stationarity in an informal time-series model...

Send him in, we said. In walks young Jacob asking to be seeded with $25mm to start a new hedge fund in exchange for an ownership stake in it. Oh, & he needs an office. And a Bloomberg station. And needs to borrow staff until he can hire some guys. And he needs a leased car... 3/

And he needs an answer today. Right now. Because there's a competing offer from Izzy Englander's firm Millenium (we know those guys well). We fight the urge to literally start laughing, but do ask him...hey, you the same guy who got banned by regulators? He didn't even flinch 4/

He went on about that being untrue & handed over a letter he said was from his lawyer who had confirmed he was not barred, had been vindicated but it 'just wasn't in the system yet at the SEC, CFTC'...whatever that means. 5/
