BeLonG To Youth Services is a national organisation supporting LGBT young people in Ireland between the ages of 14-23.
This week they promoted a film called Under the Skin.
I want to learn more so I decided to watch it. 1/8

The first thing I noticed was the rating of 15+ and pointed it out to BelongTo in a tweet that was added to the hidden section...

I was just trying to help... perhaps I could have worded it better but I'm cant hide my annoyance at their reckless approach to safeguarding 🙄
The short film follows the lives of 3 transgender teens over a period of 2 years. The film "Explores the challenges faced by these teens, and the strength and courage it takes to be themselves."
Those featured are named Logan, Soän and Effie.
I was particularly moved by the parents testimony. Soan's father took some time to come to terms with the facts and worried about the possibility of regrets in the future. Logan's Mother described the transition like someone killing and replacing her daughter with a son. 😔
9 mins in Logan was filmed having shots of testosterone injected. A short time after Effie is seen having breast implant surgery.
The whole film basically just follows these teens' medical path to transition.
Worryingly it has become very trendy to take "Vitamin T" 😖
The young people featured seem happy with the changes they made to their appearance and please God everything continues to go well for them.
However its unsettling to be packaging this to young people considering the aspect of social contagion.
Overall the film left me terribly sad for those young people who will now face a lifetime of medication, possible complications from complicated cosmetic surgeries to remove perfectly healthy organs and body parts Theyre also at an increased risk of cancer & bone disorders.
Following the UK High Court ruling on the Tavistock GID clinic which rules under 16s are unable to fully consider the long term effects of puberty blockers. Organisation like TENI, ShoutOut and BelongTo should reconsider exposing impressionable teens to these types of films.

@danielashby @AdamWJT @Greens4HS2 @TheGreenParty @GarethDennis @XRebellionUK @Hs2RebelRebel @HS2ltd I'll bite. Let's try to keep it factual. There's a reasonable basis to some aspects of this question, that it might be possible to agree on. Then there are other, more variable, elements which depend on external factors such as transport and energy policy. /1

@AdamWJT @Greens4HS2 @TheGreenParty @GarethDennis @XRebellionUK @Hs2RebelRebel @HS2ltd First up, we know reasonably well how much energy it takes to propel a high-speed train along the HS2 route. We can translate that into effective CO2 generated by making some assumptions about how green the electricity grid is. /2

@AdamWJT @Greens4HS2 @TheGreenParty @GarethDennis @XRebellionUK @Hs2RebelRebel @HS2ltd Secondly, we have a reasonable grasp of how much CO2 is going to be generated by building HS2 - there are standard methods of working this out, based on the amount of steel, concrete, earthmoving, machine-fuelling etc required. /3

@AdamWJT @Greens4HS2 @TheGreenParty @GarethDennis @XRebellionUK @Hs2RebelRebel @HS2ltd Thirdly, we can estimate how much CO2 is generated by cutting down trees, and how much is captured by planting new trees. We can also estimate how much CO2 is needed to keep the railway running and generated by maintaining the track /4

@AdamWJT @Greens4HS2 @TheGreenParty @GarethDennis @XRebellionUK @Hs2RebelRebel @HS2ltd We know how much CO2 is saved by moving goods by freight train on the lines freed up by moving the express trains on to HS2, rather than by truck. /5
1/ A thread of comments & observations about the death of the cackling vampire Rush Limbaugh.

My first observations in the main thread are here, but this offshoot is needed because there's been so many wise & witty things I've

2/ First, re: those who in their wayward moral obtuseness feel we "can't speak ill of the dead." I've said that this is what abuse enablers say, but I hear that some religious traditions preach this. Oy.
So there's this: https://t.co/7Ky4RA3nkZ &

3/ Drucker is another great wit, and this carries the proper mood

4/ There's definitely a Jewish Tradition angle for how to treat evil people who die: the only respect is to justice, right & wrong, and above all compassion's existence necessitates condemning cruelty

5/ We're coming up on #Purim, and that's all about how to remember evil. There may be a reason, then, that I share the attitude of many other people committed to righting
