1. What are Valuation Ratios?
2. What ratio should be used when?
3. Why one standard ratio like a PE doesn't work all the time?

Lets dive right in.

Valuation Ratios are a subset of ratios within the broader family of Ratio Analysis.

It is in this segment of Ratio Analysis, that you will find ratios like Price to Earnings, Price to Book, Price to Cash Flow, Price to Sales and many more.

Together these ratios help an investor understand if a company is valued cheap or expensive.

A novice investor tends to use Price to Earnings (PE) for everything - yet it is only one of the many ratios that should be used to judge the current valuation of a company.

#IEX finally getting close to my average price, will start adding it below 150 (15% further correction from here)

My investments in IEX are part of an experiment to hold a good stock for 10 yrs + buying sporadically

IEX has also started ground work for trading carbon credits

Still believe this is one stock where dividend every year in 10 years can be equal to my entire investment amount considering it throws up so much cash

1. What is a Dividend Discount Model?
2. What are its main components?
3. How to use it to value a business?

Lets dive right in.

Before I explain what a Dividend Discount Mode is, lets understand what is the main crux of valuations?

The entire reason behind valuing something is to determine, how much return your investment will generate within a specified period of time.

Return here stands for the cash flow generated by the asset.

Every asset by its nature, will generate returns.

For Fixed Deposits = Returns are Interest Payments

For Real Estate = Returns are Rent Payments

For Debt Securities = Returns are coupon payments

For Stocks = Returns are Dividends + Any Appreciation in Stock Price

To perform the exercise of valuation means to determine what these returns are worth today.

Why?

Cause Rs 100 today is worth more than Rs 100, 10 years later.

A day trading setup CLUE for trading index / stocks for a living..Capturing a big move in adv.
If cpr is bearish,n price opens abv cpr with a 5-15 min bullish pa or price crosses abv cpr within first 30 min, it usually signals a big move ahead.
Vice versa for bull cpr.

Bullish cpr is shaded blue; Bearish cpr is shaded red. If u think that higher value cpr are necessarily bullish and vice versa , then ur Wrong … I will leave this concept for discussion.

2. Stock Confirmation:

Relative Strength of a stock visavis market using RS55 model listed in @mystockedge

Only when chart showing short term breakout along with RS55>0 and RSI>50. I am ready to leave some initial movements.

4. Position buildup:

Every time the stock gives a breakout from the previous swing high add more position and go all-in.

5. Stock Exit:

I run two portfolios: Short term Swing and Long term Swing.

For Exit in Short term swings, I use a 2hourly Chart with super trend and RS. I am using @tradingview for the same.

For long term swing, I exit when the RS of the stock goes below 0. Period.

1. The moving average structure - Many traders just look at the 200 ma test or closing above/below it regardless of its slope. Let's look at all the interactions with 200 ma where price met it for the first time after the trend change but with 200 ma slope against it

One can clearly sense that currently it is one of those scenarios only. I understand that I might get trolled for this, but an unbiased mind suggests that odds are highly against the bulls for making fresh investments.

But markets are good at giving surprises. What should be our stance if price kept on rising? Let's understand that through charts. The concept is still the same. Divergent 200 ma and price move results in 200 ma test atleast once which gives good investment opportunities.

2. Zig-Zag bear market- There are two types of fall in a bear market, the first one is vertical fall which usually ends with ending diagonals (falling wedges) and the second one is zig zag one which usually ends with parabolic down moves.

2. Theta falls when market moves.
Falls where market is headed towards not on our original position.

Anilji most of the time these days Theta only falls when market moves. So the Theta actually falls where market has moved to, not where our position was in the first place. By shifting we can come close to capturing the Theta fall but not always.

3. If you're an options seller then sell only when volatility is dropping, there is a high probability of you making the right trade and getting profit as a result

4. Theta decay vs Fall in vega

Sell when Vega is falling rather than for theta decay. You won't be trapped and higher probability of making profit.

There is a difference between theta decay & fall in vega. Decay is certain but there is no guaranteed profit as delta moves can increase cost. Fall in vega on the other hand is backed by a powerful force that sells options and gives handsome returns. Our job is to identify them.
