Where is the Hijab?

Muslim thought in India can be thought of as having two lineages

1. Islamic puritanism

Lineage : Sirhindi -> Shāh Walīullāh ->Syed Ahmad Barelvi, Deobandi movement, Maulana Azad -> Jamaat e Islami

2. Muslim nationalism

Syed Ahmed Khan ->Jinnah, Iqbal - > Ayub Khan/Musharraf

The former originated largely as a religious movement.

It has its origins in Sirhindi, who voiced the view in 16th cen, that Akbar's policy was "Indianizing" Islam too much

Too much of Din-e-ilahi crap.

Let's keep Islam pure

That lineage continues in the thinking of 18th cen theologian Shah Waliullah , the Delhi based Islamic scholar who lived b/w 1703 and 1762

Waliullah like Sirhindi emphasized segregation/purity
and loyalty to the Ummah (the global Islamic whole)

Not to South Asian muslims per se

Waliullah once said

"Muslims, no matter where they live, they should be completely separated from the natives of that country in their culture, traditions and mannerisms. And wherever they are, they must be immersed in their Arabic splendor and Arabic trends”

This line of thinking continues in two 19th cen movements-

That of Syed Barelvi - who fought valiantly against Sikh rule in Punjab at Balakot

And that of the Deobandis in late 19th cen

Of Love Divine (Sūtra 1 to 6)

Sūtra 1
अथातो भक्तिं व्याख्यास्यामः॥ १॥
Now, the doctrine of devotion we shall expound.
After having developed all the qualifications necessary for the practice of devotion (atha), the student

feels no spiritual satisfaction, and therefore (ataḥ), he must now diligently walk the path of devotion. According to Rāmānuja, the teacher of viśiṣṭādvaita, there are seven qualifications necessary in a seeker who plans to pursue devotion. They are:

(1) Discrimination in food (viveka), (2) Freedom from desire (vimukha), (3) Practice (abhyāsa), (4) Habit of doing good to others (kriyā), (5) Purity in thought, word and deed, non-violence, charity, and such other virtues (kalyāṇa), (6) Cheerfulness (anavasāda), and (7) Absence

We have had 9 Chiefs of Army Staff, (Victor, Alex, Agwai, Azazi, Luka, Dambazau, Ihejirika, Minima and Buratai) only Dambazau and Buratai are Muslims.

The both have spent 5 years of the close to 20 years which means Christians held that position for 15 years. Christians 75%, Muslims 25%

1.3 CHIEFS OF AIR STAFF.

We have had 8 Chiefs of Air Staff, (Isaac, Jonah, Dike, Petirin, Dikko, Alex, Amosu and Sadiq).

Only Sadiq and Dikko are Muslims and both have spent 5 years of the close to 20 years. Christians held that position for 15 years. Christians 75% Muslims 25%.

1.4 CHIEFS OF NAVAL STAFF.

We have had 8 Chiefs of Navy Staff (Ombu, Afolayan, Adeleke, I. Ibrahim, S. Ibrahim,

Ezeoba, Jibrin and Ibak). Only Jibrin who seved 2 years and one of the Ibrahims is a Muslims, both Ibrahim served 2 years each, so Muslims served 4 years. Christians 16 years, Muslims 4 years. Christians 75% Muslims 25%.

1.5 CHIEFS OF DEFENCE STAFF.

We have had 9 CDS (Ogohi, Ogomudia, Agwai, Azazi, Dike, Petinri, Ibrahim, Alex and Abayomi). Only Ogohi and Ibrahim are Muslims, not so sure of Petinri. Both Ogohi and Ibrahim spent 5 years. Meaning Christians have spent 15 years, and Muslims 5 years.

Once Upon a time, Great and Powerful Indra decided to do Yajña, there were large scale preparations, Rishis were chanting mantras, then Indra decided to SIay animals there

Rishis stopped him, Rishis clearly told him that There is NO mention of K!lling animals in Yajñas in shastras,

K!lling animals in Yajñas is against Dharma, hence please allow Brahmins to perform it according to shastras

Rishis said, Yajña must be done with seeds, this is what Dharma says.
But Imdra had a Big ego, he refused to follow Dharma

So they went to King Vasu and asked him, who is correct, King lied that you can do yajña with anything, because if this he was punished.
