1) I’m a Democrat, running for Congress in 2022 from Wisconsin’s Sixth District. This is (part of) my story.

I grew up in Southfield, a city in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. My brother still lives in the Detroit area, but our parents are deceased.

2) My undergraduate degree is a BA with a major in political science (with an emphasis in political economy) and a minor in public administration, from Albion College, in MI. I got my JD (law degree) from Washington & Lee University School of Law, in VA.

3) I practiced law for nearly 20 years, taking time off now & then for various reasons, including when my grandmother died & I handled her estate, & from August 2018, when I lost my job after being diagnosed w/Stage Four uterine #cancer, which I beat, to the present.

4) My husband was born and raised in this district. We lived here, and got married here, from 2003-10, then moved to Milwaukee for work, then moved back to the district in August 2018, when we bought a house here. We’re staying.

5) I have an extensive skill set, based on a broad range of experience, including: having worked as an attorney, a human resources manager, an administrator, a researcher, & an author.

A coalition of more than 130 different organizations are planning protests across the United States, in the event Pres. Trump tries to undermine the integrity of the election and claim victory before all ballots are counted. The events are listed at https://t.co/nASdXGBPlk.

1/ Today, @nbcnews published my latest feature on the falsehoods and conspiracy theories that have defined Donald Trump's presidency.

It's the culmination of many years of reporting, so I thought I'd take you on a little trip through fact check history...

2/ But first, please read the story!

3/ I started this work as a campaign reporter — watching the now-president come down the escalator at Trump Tower in 2015 — and realizing that this beat would be different, that this candidate was different, and he was frequently not telling the truth.

And it had been several years since, but I couldn't really shake the instinct to print all the speeches and debates and take my trusty red and black pens to them.

This is how I see polling. Your results may vary.

1. For 90% of the time the pollsters can just make shit up within reason
2. They have to at least be in the realm of reality to be believed.
3. Sometimes their desire to push a particular point even outweighs this and

3. (cont) they push really fake polls that all the media report as God's honest truth like 90% of Americans believe in masks 🙄🙄 or that Biden is up by +14pts nationally while He is still fighting in PA🙄🙄.
4. But for the most part they stay within the realm of reality

5. The only "check" on pollsters is an election, where reality is actually measured not polled.

6. It is then extremely important that the pollsters get those last couple of polls before an election as close to reality as possible.

7. They need to get those final polls right.

8. Once the election is held and those final polls are compared to reality, the pollsters will loudly proclaim "See, the polls are right all the time because we got the election right"

9. Then the day after the election they can go back to fudging reality.

10. Many people fall for it, every time. Then it's simply a matter of rinse and repeat as the pollsters are paid to form public opinion not measure it until the next election.

11. Granted there are some pollsters that don't do this and strive to get it "right" every time.

My feeling is that the polls are getting this wrong, and in a BIG WAY. There are so many factors that are the cause... I'll run through them.

First, the media and pollsters are GREATLY underestimating the extreme anger rising up in the American population against trump...

It's hard to overstate this. This is an election like no other in modern history. We have a president and an administration who are actively killing people during an election cycle, and seem to have no qualms about doing so... and the public is ACUTELY AWARE of this.

Next, the youth vote. We're seeing a 600% increase in the youth vote, just in early voting, down here in Texas... and similar huge increases across the country. Pollsters aren't reaching these people... at all.

Next, first time voters. This factor is massive. We're seeing huge numbers of first time voters across the country. Pollsters will never reach these people, as they don't fall into the categories of "active" or "likely" voters.

Remember to #VOTE if you can. Also regardless of what the major parties say, you don’t have to #VoteRed or #VoteBlue, by all means do if you want to but this thread is for those who are looking for other, possibly better options depending on their views. Before

Its measured in the unprecedented crossover support for Biden from top officials in the other party: hundreds of former GOP national security officials (including Reagan's FBI Director & W's CIA head); top staff for past 3 GOP presidential nominees;

Dozens of former GOP elected officials (including Governors, Senators & House); Reagan WH lawyers; former US Attorneys; about half of W's Cabinet; Cindy McCain. No nominee has ever won as much support from prominent figures in other party-not even Nixon 72

Classical #Liberalism gets mocked a lot but it's a very powerful and valuable idea and generalizes beyond human beings.

A bunch of agents with come together and create an agreement to follow rules which move them out of bad Nash Equilibria, but with some remaining freedom.

A "Bad Nash Equilibrium" is a solution to a game where everyone does what is personally best for them, but the overall result is extremely bad for everyone. Rules/Laws are typically designed to get us out of these

In the past, societies often took extreme measures to keep people out of bad Nash Equilibria, such as cutting people's hands off for stealing, or stoning adulterers to death.

It is good that we don't brutalize people to fix collective games. Classical #Liberalism is good!
