This has to be said.

Classical Muslim scholars and jurists have categorized friendship with NON-MUSLIM into four levels and stages

1) Muwalat or Mawadda: This means to have close and intimate relationship and deep love and affection from one’s heart for a non-Muslim such that

it makes a Muslim unmindful of his faith.

This Mawadda is reserved only for Muslims; hence it is not permitted for a Muslim to have this type of friendship with non-Muslims. The verses of the Qur’an prohibiting Muslims from having intimate and close friendship with non-Muslims,

especially the first verse of Surah al-Mumtahina, is regarding this kind of relationship.

2) Mudarat: This means to express friendship and love only outwardly without having love for them and their beliefs internally. It is a mere outward expression of the first stage (muwalat),

hence it entails being pleasant, friendly, polite and kind towards non-Muslims. It involves expressing good manners, courtesy and good behavior towards fellow human beings.
This kind of relationship with non-Muslims is permitted, as it is reserved for all human beings, whether

Muslim or non-Muslim. This becomes even more important when the objective is to safeguard one’s self from potential harm, invite them towards Islam or when they are one’s guests. The verse of the Qur’an where Allah says “unless you [do so] as a protective measure [in order to]

I've received my share of calls from young Muslim couples and know some common themes. If you're being offered any of these, say no and end it.

1) Secret Nikahs: Not only is this against the command of the Prophet (peace be on him), they never work. I've seen horror stories!

2) Polygamy: In principle I have nothing against it. But our current political and social climate makes it almost impossible to practice it justly. In most Canadian cases, I wouldn't recommend it. Once again, horror stories!

3) Marrying non-Muslims: Islam allows men to marry Christian and Jewish women. However, I really would advise against this now.

These commands are for when the man is the leader of the house and can ensure that the children will remain Muslim. Do not risk your children's Iman!

Additionally, marriage about so much more than love. After being married, I see that it needs many social scaffolding and structure to prosper.

I really see many couples in such marriages ending up resenting their partner.

I would not recommend this 95% of the time!

4) Delaying the talking process: Let me know if this sounds familiar: "He's perfect. But he isn't ready for marriage yet! 2 years, In Sha Allah!"

Not only is your boyfriend/girlfriend haraam (cause that's what they are), why invest your heart when the person isn't ready?

We muslims and the muslims scholars always say - the Quran is the final, complete, universal and incorruptible word of god (which is true), but why is it that our "islamic governments" fail to enforce laws based on the Qur'an...

A few days back, fornication was legalised in the UAE (which is strictly prohibited in the Qur'an)
And with saudi Arabia's suspicious activity with Israeli officials, we as an ummah are bound to ask ourselves few questions

What led to this?
Who is responsible?
What are we doing?
Does the majority of our ummah even want to do something about it?
What can be done?
Who can do it?

Q1 - what led to this?
This question has answers we all know, but we turn a blind eye towards it.
After the fall of the Ottoman Islamic khilafath we can safely say that it's secularism (Ataturk) which responsible for it...

...And that's ironic, as muslims who live in secular states vouch for the secularism mentioned in those states' constitution for the protection of their rights...

Music has been so normalized that “scholars” have even misguided people on it. May Allah forgive us and guide us, aameen.

This will be a long but informative thread on this topic, in shaa’ Allah

Ibn Masud (rAa) said about this ayah: “It is singing, by the one and only God” he repeated it 3x (Tafsir Tabari 11/61)

Ibn Abbas says the same thing (recorded in Adab Al Mufrad), so do Jabir Ibn Abdillah and Ibn Umar. As well as Ibn Abbas’ father (radhiAllahu ‘anhum)

The scholars of tafsir regarding the voice (of Iblis):

Mujahid: It is singing, flutes, distraction, falsehood (Tafsir Tabari 15/81)

Hasan Al-Basri: It’s the duff and the flute (Tafsir Samani 3/258)

Ibn Abbas said: It is singing. Upon hearing the Quran, they (the mushrikeen of makkah) used to sing and play. (Tafsir Tabari 13/82)

Mujahid also says the same thing in Talbis Iblis by Ibn Jawzi (p. 231)
