I've just been challenged by a security guard at @LidlGB.

He
informed me that a policy has been rolled out today that requires security to "politely challenge" customers without masks.

After informing him I was exempt, he asked me for my card.

I said I didn't need one and...

that he wasn't supposed to challenge me or ask me to present one.

We then exchanged some pleasantries, very politely, where I asked him to either refuse me entry or let me in.

I advised him that if he refused me entry, he was acting against the law and I would have to sue him..
He advised me that because this was my first time, he would let me shop but asked me to bring the card next time.

I reminded him I didn't need one and wouldn't be bringing a card or wearing a lanyard and told him that the next time I shopped I would present the legal documents..
that early shown that an exempt person can not be asked to present documents or refused entry as this would be a breach of the discrimination act.

I told him that I would request to see the store manager and ask for the name of the man or woman who was refusing me entry so...
that I could sue them in their personal capacity.

I was then introduced to the store manager and we exchanged the same story.

She asked me politely to buy a lanyard or bring my card otherwise she could refuse me entry.

I reminded her she couldn't and told her that if she did..
I would have to sure her in her personal capacity too.

She told me that was fine as she was protected by lidl insurance so I explained that I wouldn't be sueing lidl, I would be sueing her in her personal capacity.

At which point she exasperated that there was nothing she...
could do and she was supposed to finish at 6.30 and it was now 6.35.

I said that was fine, we didnt need to go through it now and I didn't want to keep her at work.

I finished by letting them know that the next time I shop, somebody would have to make the decision to refuse..
me entry or let me shop.

After explaining I wouldn't wear a lanyard or bring an exemption card because I wasn't legally required to, I thanked them and said I'd see them next time.

To be continued...

(I only wanted some mayonnaise)
I will now print out these two government guidance documents for my next visit along with the complaints letter below:

More from India

In his letters describing the India Mission, Carey has given us an insight into how the society functioned then, of how the minds of the people worked and what methods the missionaries used to approach and brainwash the common people.

It is entirely possible that,Carey in his arrogance of being the white man and hence more civilized, his inability to under the Hindu scriptures and his natural disdain for the learned community coupled with his inherent hatred for the idolaters may have exaggerated the incidents.

In fact, considering the venom with which he has spoken about Hinduism and it's practices, it's likely that he has exaggerated these incidents. But it cannot be denied that these incidents did happen even if they may not have been on scale at which Carey has described.

One of his journal entry mentions a debate which happened in a temple in front of around 200 people. Carey describes having debated with two learned men and goes on to say when both learned men failed to answer his questions, he went on to preach the gospel to the assembled crowd

In a letter dated 30th June,1795 he goes on to gleefully narate how Hindus were unaware of their own scriptures and how an supposed expert named a grammar book when he was questioned as which scripture said that the Murti is God.
