Earlier many traders were trading based on discretionary without any rules based approach. Now a lot of traders are ready to move to algo trading but confused with a lot of options. When you are bombarded with tons of different trading systems, how do you choose the best one?

Many traders still think winning accuracy is the most important parameter in a trading system. But is it really true? Let's check this example. Consider, we have three different trading systems.
System A,
System B and
System C.


System A has 90% winning accuracy,
System B has 10% winning accuracy and
System C has 50% accuracy.
When given a choice, most traders will opt for System A as it has the highest winning accuracy of all with 90%.

But System A is not the right choice. The average profit in a winning trade is Rs.1000, that is 90% of the time System A is capable of making Rs.1000 profit. But remaining 10% of the time when the system is making a loss, it loses a lot. So after 100 trades, net result is -10,000

System B, The average profit in a winning trade is Rs.10,000, that is 10% of the time System B is capable of making Rs.10K profit, which is ten times higher than its losing trade. The average loss in a losing trade is Rs.1,000 but 90% of the time the system will continue to lose.

Nifty 14500 CE trade which made day low price of 0.15 and day high price of 2139, due to erroneous order by a broker who lost 250 crores. Some ppl claim few others brokers made 50 to 75 crores profits. But what really happened? Here's the tick data analysis that shows true info🧵

Yesterday being a weekly expiry market was so calm, not making any major movements. Nifty was trading around 16500 but there was a freak trade happened with deep In the money option 14500 CE. It was trading around 2000 levels, usually the liquidity will be very shallow with ITM

it was hovering around 2000 to 2100 levels but suddenly around 2:30 pm, the price of the option went as low as 0.15 paise. Here's the tick data price chart of 14500 CE option strike


What's really interesting about this sudden move is, usually when a freak trade happens it last for few seconds and instantly get back to its average traded price levels. But in this case, there were many buy trades executed at a very low price.

Obviously this a fat finger error trade, where a broker based out of Kolkatta, erroneously placed sell order for 14500 CE instead of 16500 CE.

4. The Imitation Game - I watched this movie when I started my rule based trading journey in 2014, struggled a lot during my initial phase with code, unable to get any breakthrough, this film gave my that ray of hope. It’s about a mathematician who broke the code n won the war


5. The Pursuit of Happyness - any favourite Movie list would be incomplete without this movie. Will Smith, damn what an actor he is. I watched this movie when I was in college days, still remember the day, I was crying non stop during the interview scene. Brilliant film.

This is how Nifty moved in last 15 years with three major corrections, in the year 2008,then around 2016 and then year 2020 due to Coronavirus. Only when we look back with hindsight bias we could say those were the best time to invest. But is there really any quantitative method?


200 day moving average is something that is widely used by many investors to check for long term trend. Where investors consider if stocks trades above 200 DMA, its in bullish phase and if it trades below 200 DMA its in bearish phase.

We shall run an analysis to find out of Nifty 50 stocks, how many number of stocks trades above 200 day moving average, higher the number, stronger the market. we need correct data, we cannot test it with current Nifty 50 stocks,

we need list of Nifty 50 stocks that are part of index historically, so when we run for Jan 2008, stocks like RPL, RNRL, UNITECH were part of Nifty 50, so it is essential to test it with correct datasets.

Only when chart showing short term breakout along with RS55>0 and RSI>50. I am ready to leave some initial movements.

4. Position buildup:

Every time the stock gives a breakout from the previous swing high add more position and go all-in.

5. Stock Exit:

I run two portfolios: Short term Swing and Long term Swing.

For Exit in Short term swings, I use a 2hourly Chart with super trend and RS. I am using @tradingview for the same.

For long term swing, I exit when the RS of the stock goes below 0. Period.

Price is testing the same resistance repeatedly since long.
But now in recent times it's forming multiple candles near the same resistance with low volume.
Observe it and see for opposite move.
As soon as u get a positive candle, get in to it.

1. Volume buildup (vol > when resistance point created) along with, increase in OI, increase in delivery % on HTF
2. On LTF, price stalling around breakout area for at least 1-2hr.
3. No major events.

Stock reaching breakout LVL with HL-HH
Contraction of price and volume near it especially near 20 days ma.
If there is any breach of the latest HL it should be followed by a bullish candle with good volume.
Left side of the chart has a rally with a very steep slope of ma.

If stock is at its ATH then it adds more conviction bcz there wont b supply after that point

Consolidation below the resistance, volume of the candles & strong bullish candle closing at near highs just below the resistance

2/ First, “X” could be lots of things. Examples: What would need to be true for you to

- “Feel it's in our best interest for me to be CMO"
- “Feel that we’re in a good place as a company”
- “Feel that we’re on the same page”
- “Feel that we both got what we wanted from this deal

3/ Normally, we aren’t that direct. Example from startup/VC land:

Founders leave VC meetings thinking that every VC will invest, but they rarely do.

Worse over, the founders don’t know what they need to do in order to be fundable.

4/ So why should you ask the magic Q?

To get clarity.

You want to know where you stand, and what it takes to get what you want in a way that also gets them what they want.

It also holds them (mentally) accountable once the thing they need becomes true.

5/ Staying in the context of soliciting investors, the question is “what would need to be true for you to want to invest (or partner with us on this journey, etc)?”

Multiple responses to this question are likely to deliver a positive result.
