Okay I'm extremely sleep deprived, so why not start some Twitter drama on this fine Monday morning.

Hot take: Vinay Sitapati is a deracinated, colonized fella who shouldn't be writing about the topics he writes about.

I will elaborate.

 So mind, I haven't read his books. I want to read Jugalbandi but it isn't yet available on the Kindle store in the US. It seems like he's researched the crap out of his topics. I'm not going to dispute his research chops. BUT
The lens he looks at things with. It's the most colonized lens I've seen in a long time. It is maddeningly colonized.

This is based on all the videos of him promoting his books that I've watched.
In several talks/interviews about his PVN Rao book, he says 'Rao was going to quit politics and become a "Hindu Priest"'.

That's the kind of language you would use if you were so far removed from India that Hinduism was just one big monolithic blob to you.
Someone even marginally immersed in the culture would probably say "poojari" or specified that he was going to serve at Kutralam peetham. But no, he sticks to the incredibly sterile "Hindu Priest".
I don't even understand why. He's not writing for an international audience. He's writing for Indians. Why not talk like an Indian person?
And then in all the conversations about his latest book, Jugalbandi, he keeps on going on about "we Indians have a huge ego" or "we Indians are incredibly hierarchical".

Way to generalize one-sixth of humanity.
Every other culture in the world lacks ego, has flat organizations, and don't promote their kith and kin. Oh us unique Indians.

It strikes me as the kind of shallow shit you'd say when you live in New Jersey in a very NRI neighborhood and try acting multicultural.
And whenever he talks about the RSS, he says "Hindu nationalism".

You can just say nationalism, you know.

Wonder if he goes to an Indian restaurant and eats Indian food in India.
It's especially fucky because a huge number of RSS members are not sanatani. And he says several times that the RSS portrays non-hindus as The Other.

How in all your research do you not meet up with members of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, I don't know.
And when he talks about how some members of the BJP can't stand each other but still work together, he compares it to a bickering family. Then he says while Advani and Modi can't stand each other, Modi still wished Advani on his birthday.

Oh the horror and the hypocrisy.
He proves with that line that he understands neither the BJP nor families.

If you are in a cadre based organization, you'll argue, compete, cooperate and collude with people very different from you. That's basically a given. I don't know why that seems so weird to Mr Sitapati.
And also I assume Advani and Modi disagree on stuff, and don't actively loathe each other. It's not "play-acting" as he puts it for them to be friendly.

Mr. Sitapati has a very black and white view of relationships. I assume he doesn't have in-laws.
How do you immerse yourself in all this research and still not get the vibe of an Indian organization? Sure, the culture might be a little distinct from others, but definitely not in the ways Mr Sitapati thinks. How does he not get it?
If he was raised by wolves, it's most likely not wolfmom Raksha from Jungle Book, bc it feels like even a colonist like Rudyard Kipling understood Indian families.

Heck, Prof Walter Andersen who wrote books on the RSS has a much better intuitive understanding of the Sangh.
The thing that bothers me the most is, how is someone who presumably has been raised in India in an Indian family not get these nuances. How does one get this deracinated over a few years at princeton?
Idk. This is just a sample. It probably gets worse. It's just weird and jarring hearing an Indian person think about Indian topics from an incredibly western lens.

I won't even get into some of the factual inaccuracies of his that are tangential to his work.
He really doesn't get it. Maybe he needs to spend some time with Diana Eck, Melissa Kapoor and heck, maybe even that likely CIA agent, Jonathan Shainin.

गरुड़ पुराण में विष्णु की भक्ति व अवतारों का विस्तार से उसी प्रकार वर्णन मिलता है जिस प्रकार भगवत पुराण में।आरम्भ में मनु से सृष्टि की उत्पत्ति,ध्रुव चरित्र की कथा मिलती है।


तदुपरांत सुर्य व चंद्र ग्रहों के मंत्र, शिव-पार्वती मंत्र,इन्द्र सम्बंधित मंत्र,सरस्वती मंत्र और नौ शक्तियों के बारे में विस्तार से बताया गया है।
इस पुराण में उन्नीस हज़ार श्लोक बताए जाते हैं और इसे दो भागों में कहा जाता है।

In the 1659 Adilshah sent Afzalkhan with the army of 75000 soldiers to destroy Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with his empire. He was the main soldier, warrior and minister in Adilshahi Sultanate.


He was the Subhedar of Wai province.

He was very powerful physically. His height was 7.3 ft. due to same he was very popular as a strong man from Adilshahi Sultanate.

Whole India was not daring to fight with Adilshahi due to Afzal Khan.

Badi Begum Sahiba sent him to kill Chhatrapati Shivaji on any cost.

Voluntary he decided to destroy Chhatrapati Shivaji’s empire with him. He started his operation against Chhatrapati Shivaji from "wai". He destroyed many temples like as Tulja Bhavani Temple.

He destroyed so many villages, killed villagers to torture Chhatrapati Shivaji.

DETAILED VIEW- Running commentary

1. Chhatrapati Shivaji chose Pantaji as a lawyer to communicate with Afzal Khan. Pantaji was very sharp minded, who did his job very nicely.

2. He presented Chhatrapati Shivaji is fearing Afzal Khan and he wanted to invite him in his kingdom near Pratapgad.

3. Pantaji succeed in the communication with Afzal Khan and he brought him as per the planning of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

In Varanasi, Durga Kund Mandir was constructed by Rani Bhabani in the 18th century.


Born in Chhatimgram village, Bogra District,Her father's name was Atmaram Choudhury.Bhabani was married off to Raja Ramkanta Moitra,the then zamindar of Rajshahi.After his death, Bhabani became the zamindar, and started being referred to as Rani.She was known as Ardhabangeshwari.

A woman as a zamindar was extremely rare in those days, but Rani Bhabani managed the vast Rajshahi zamindari most efficiently and effectively for over four decades.
Maharani Bhavani was very pious in her personal life. She passed her life in a strict disciplined way.


She conducted the administrative work skillfully. As a Maharani she was an impartial judge. Rani Bhavani had a very hard time during the fag end of her life. The Zamindari (estate) incurred serious loss due to the change of the revenue policy of the company.

In spite of being the owner of a large Zamindari (estate), she had to depend on the stipend of the government in the later part of her life. The amount of this stipend gradually decreased and became Rs. 1000/- only in the end.

Simple rules : friday,monday, tuesday do for weekly. Wednesday and thrusday next week

So, gamma moves can't impact much.
Another better version of mahesh chander kaushik is to do it for monthly expiry.
Bigger premiums and never hav to worry about 200-300 points sudden moves.
2. 2nd version : have combined stoploss of premiums and re-entry criteria. Example :

Let say 40000 straddle is at 600. Sell at 600 and hav combined sl at 650. Many algos are providing this. U can even place stoploss in % terms. Like, if sold straddle at 400 and placed 10% sl, means if 440 combined premium touch, it will be stoploss.
Let say, in morning,

U sold straddle at 600 and it sl hit at 650. Now, u placed reentry at 600 with same sl. This time may be linear decay happens and u may cover morning's loss and make some profit.
3rd version : stoplosses at each leg and trail sl to cost type.
Example , 40000 straddle at 400.

Asura Andhaka hangs on to a trishula held by 6-armed Shiva.

Once Parvathi & Shiva were relaxing in the pleasant gardens of Mount Mandhara.


Bhagwan Shiva sat down there to enjoy the happiness.Parvati closed the eyes of Shiva playfully & darkness covered the whole universe.Parvati was perplexed & her palms were wet with perspiration.A few drops of her sweat mixed with sweat from Shiva’s body& fell to the ground.

From this sweat,a fierce creature was born,it started to roar.Child was born blind as Shiva's eyes were closed so was named as Andaka.Andha means darkness&also ignorance.Around the same time Asura Hiranyaksha was performing rigorous tapas Shiva for a boon of powerful son.

Bhagwan Shiva was pleased by tapas of Hiranyaksha & blessed him with darshan.Hiranyaksha asked for a powerful son,Shiva told him that he cannot have his own son,but can adopt a blind child who would become very powerful later.Shiva gave child Andaka to Hiranyaksha.

Hiranyaksha returned to his kingdom with Andaka.Later after the vadh of Hiranyaksha, Andaka is said to have lived with his cousins.He was ridiculed,so dejected Andaka went to forest.He did severe tapas for over many years towards Brahma Dev. Brahma dev appeared before him.

Sthala Puranam says that, there lived a Landlord who had many cows in his farm. One among them was a Black Cow, which didn't give milk. Land lord observed that evening time, when all the cows came back after grazing, this cow used to go to a particular spot and gave all  the milk


by itself. He decided to dig the spot where the cow gave its milk

On digging a beautiful Vigraham of Murugan was found, but lower portion was very rough. So he called a great sculptor to soften it. Everyone was shocked to see that on the first chisel the vigraham bleeded.


Land lord realized that Murugan wanted the Vigraham the way it was.

Thus Prathishta was done on Chennimalai hill. It is believed that Sivalaya Chola got relieved from his Brahmahatti Dosha here. Kanda Shasti Kavacham was first offered here.
