The Harappan cities, one of the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent, had a civilized way of living - dating back to 2600 BC!

Every house of Harappan cities had a courtyard and 6-7 rooms on 3 sides, few houses had wells, one house had stairs leading to roof top and one house had floor built of burnt 'tiles decorated with geometrical designs'.

In 1969, archaeologist BK Thapar excavated at Kalibangan (Rajasthan, India). They dug out a settlement which dates back to 2600 BC.

He was shocked when he saw the 4500 year old houses had tiled floors. And the tiled floors were painted with a design.

He said, "This is exactly the design on the floor of my own house".

If you think the west has taught us modernisation, civilisation or 'way of living' then you're wrong! Wake up!!

ASIA'S OLDEST LIGHTHOUSE!

This is the #Olakaneeshvara_Temple in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, built by Pallava king Mahendravarman in 630 CE.

Apart from being a Shiva temple, it also used to emit light and serve as navigational aid for ships in the sea.

Oil was used to kindle up a huge pot which was placed on the square platform at the top of cave temple. It was kept kindled all night.

The burning pot emitted a lot of light in the night time skies. As such, this is the oldest lighthouse in all of Asia.

Scientists of the modern world credit an English scientist John Dalton (1766 CE -1844 CE) for the Atomic Theory.

And this is because, most of us are not even aware of an ancient Indian Sage named Kanada, who was the first to formulate the theory of atoms, almost 2600 yrs before Dalton and talk about earth's gravity.

Rishi Kanada was born around 600 BCE in Dwarka, Gujarat and he was the son of a philosopher named Ulka. He was fascinated with the minute detailing of the things right from his childhood. Once, when he was very young, he accompanied his father on a journey to Prayaga.

He saw plentiful grains scattered along the path leading to the shore of river Ganga. It's a tradition in Hindu families to scatter the grains for the ants and birds to feed on them. Suddenly, an ant caught his attention, who was feeding on a rice grain.

He was mesmerised by this very fact that how a small grain of rice becomes food for the ant but to satisfy the hunger of a person so many grains are needed together. This incidence made him realize the importance of a single grain of rice.

It is said that the one who bears the dust thrown from the hoof of Gaumata on his head, as if taking a bath in the water of the teerth sthalam and getting rid of all sins.

Ved and all other Hindu scriptures venerate the cow. The Vedic dictionary, Nighantu, gives amongst other synonyms of 'Gau' [ or cow] the words 'Aghnya', 'Ahi', and 'Aditi'.

Yaska the vedic decoder and commentator on Nighantu, defines these as-

Aghnya —— the one that ought not to be killed
Ahi —— the one that must not be slaughtered.
Aditi —— the one that ought not to be cut into pieces.

These three names of cow signify that this is an animal which should not to be put to tortures. These words appear frequently throughout the Veda in context of the cow.

But in due course the falsehood of killing cows spread far and wide and they became even more deep rooted when western scholars with their half baked knowledge of Sanskrit transliterated these interpretations of commentaries of Sayanacharya ,
