Jassa Singh - The man who rebuilt Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple)

In 1762, Punjab was fighting for freedom. Ahmad Shah Abdali (Durrani) was the karta dharta of Punjab in those days.

1762 was known for Sikh genocide/massacre as 25k - 30k sikhs (expected either 1/3rd or half the population of Sikhs) were slaughtered at Kup.

Ahmad Shah Durrani was part of a long line of conquerors that invaded Punjab since Mahmud of Ghazni in 1001.

Ahmad Shah then marched to Sri Harmandir Sahib & blew it up using gunpowder without leaving a single brick intact.

Too sprinkle salt on their wounds he filled the holy tank with the carcasses of dead cows. (Can Sikhs of today forget this?)

This boosted Ahmad Shah's confidence.

Around Diwali, he decided to finish off the Sikhs at Lahore with his 50000 Afghan soldiers.

The Sikhs were waiting to take revenge. They charged the Afghans with their war cry "Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguruji ki fateh" and forced Ahmad Shah to draw off his army.

Once in 1761, Ahmad Shah was returning triumphant after winning the third battle of Panipat against Marathas. He was taking his booty of 22000 hindu and muslim women to be sold in Afghanistan.

Jassa Singh rescued these women and gallantly escorted them to their families.

युधिष्ठिर द्वारा मार्कण्डेय से पूछने पर मार्कण्डेय युगान्तकालिक कलियुग समय के बर्ताव के बारे में युधिष्ठिर को बताते हैं और तब कल्कि अवतार का वर्णन के बारे में बताया गया जिसका उल्लेख महाभारत वनपर्व के 'मार्कण्डेयसमस्या पर्व' के अंतर्गत..

अध्याय 190 में बताया गया है मार्कण्डेय का संवाद मार्कण्डेय कहते हैं- युधिष्ठिर युगान्तकाल आने पर सब ओर आग जल उठेगी। उस समय पापीयों को मांगने पर कहीं अन्न, जल या ठहरने के लिये स्थान नहीं मिलेगा। वे सब ओर से कड़वा जवाब पाकर निराश हो सड़कों पर ही सो रहेंगे।

युगान्तकाल उपस्थित होने पर बिजली की कड़क के समान कड़वी बोली बोलने वाले कौवे, हाथी, शकुन, पशु और पक्षी आदि बड़ी कठोर वाणी बोलेंगे। उस समय के मनुष्य अपने मित्रों, सम्बन्धियों, सेवकों तथा कुटुम्बीजनों की भी अकारण त्याग देंगे।

प्रायः लोग स्वदेश छोड़कर दूसरे देशों, दिशाओं, नगरों और गांवों का आश्रय लेंगे इत्यादि रूप से अत्यन्त दुःखद वाणी में एक-दूसरे को पुकारते हुए इस पृथ्वी पर विचरेंगे। युगान्तकाल में संसारकी यही दशा होगी। उस समय एक ही साथ समस्त लोकों का भयंकर संहार होगा।

तदन्तर कालान्तर में सत्ययुग का आरम्भ होगा और फिर क्रमशः ब्राह्मण आदि वर्ण प्रकट होकर अपने प्रभाव का विस्तार करेंगे। उस समय लोक के अभ्युदय के लिये पुनः अनायास दैव अनुकूल होगा।

That means "Yoga is Samadhi"

युजिर् योगे।
That means "Yoga connects (The Soul with the Divine)"

युज् संयमने।
That means "Yoga gives Restraint"

According to Sanskrit dictionary ‘The Amarkosh’,

योग: संनहन उपाय ध्यान संगति युक्तिषु।

That means "The YOGA is used in the sense of Preparation, Remedy, Association & Tactic."

🌺मार्कंडेय ऋषी की कथा🌺

मृगशृंग नामक एक ऋषि थे जिनका विवाह सुवृता के संग संपन्न हुआ। मृगश्रृंग और सुवृता के घर एक पुत्र ने जन्म लिया। उनका पुत्र हमेशा अपना शरीर खुजलाते रहते थे। इसलिए मृगश्रृंग ने उनका नाम मृकण्डु रख दिया। मृकण्डु में समस्त श्रेष्ठ गुण थे।

पिता के पास रहकर उन्होंने वेदों व शास्त्रों का अधययन किया।पिता की आज्ञा अनुसार उन्होने मृदगुल मुनि की कन्या मरुद्वती से विवाह किया।उनका वैवाहिक जीवन शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से चल रहा था लेकिन बहुत समय तक उनके घर किसी संतान ने जन्म नहीं लिया था।इस कारण उन्होने अपनी पत्नी सहित कठोर तप किया।

तपस्या करके उन्होने भगवान शिव को प्रसन्न कर लिया तब शिवजी उनके सम्मुख प्रकट हुए और कहा,"हे मुनि! मांगो क्या वर मांगते हो।"
मुनि मृकण्डु ने कहा,"प्रभु! यदि आप सच मे हमारी तपस्या से प्रसन्न हैं तो हमें संतान के रूप में एक पुत्र प्रदान करें।"

महादेव ने तब मृकंडु ऋषि से कहा,"हे मुनि! तुम्हें दीर्घायु वाला गुणरहित पुत्र चाहिए या 16 वर्ष की आयु वाला गुणवान पुत्र चाहते हो?" तब मुनि बोले," भगवन मुझे ऐसा पुत्र चाहिए जो अत्यंत गुणवान और ज्ञानी हो, फिर चाहे वो अल्पायु ही क्यों न हो।"

भगवान शिव ने उन्हें पुत्र प्राप्ति का आशीर्वाद दिया और अंतर्ध्यान हो गए। समय आने पर ऋषि मृकंडु और मरुद्वती के घर एक बालक ने जन्म लिया जो आगे चलकर मार्कंडेय ऋषि के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ। महामुनि मृकंडु ने मार्कंडेय को हर प्रकार की शिक्षा दी। मार्कंडेय एक आज्ञाकारी पुत्र थे।

हनुमान जी को भगवान सूर्य देव से नव निधियों का ज्ञान प्राप्त करना था। सूर्य देव ने ५ निधियों का ज्ञान तो हनुमान जी को से दिया पर शेष ४ के लिए उनके सामने एक समस्या खड़ी हो गई..

उन ४ निधियों का ज्ञान पाने के लिए विवाहित होना अनिवार्य था। हनुमान जी ने कहा कि में तो ब्रह्मचारी हूं मैं कैसे विवाह कर सकता हूं
भगवान सूर्य नारयण ने समाधान बताते हुए कहा कि उन्हे और उनकी पत्नी संध्या देवी को विश्वकर्मा जी की कृपा से एक पुत्री प्राप्त हुई है जिसका नाम सुवर्चला है

सूर्य देव ने कहा कि क्यूंकि सुवर्चला उनके प्रकाश से उत्पन्न हुई हैं, इसलिए उनको हनुमान जी के अलावा कोई और धारण करने में समर्थ नहीं। वे परम तपस्विनी हैं इसलिए विवाहोप्रांत तपस्या में फिर से लीन हो जाएंगी। इस कारण हनुमान जी का ब्रह्मचर्य अखंड रहेगा। समस्या का उचित निराकरण जान कर

Tulabharam story of Guruvayurappan

Tulabharam is an offering of giving one’s weight  equivalent in fruit, sugar, butter or other grains, to Bhagwan.
Once there lived a cobbler who near Guruvayur temple. He had a practice of taking Lottery tickets.

Whenever he takes a ticket he will first pray to Guruvayurappan that if he wins he will offer a Tulabharam. Everytime he said this offering using Sugar, jaggery, butter etc.. but he didn't win lottery money a single time

He became sad but couldn't stop from buying a ticket.

One day he took a ticket of 1 crore rupees and went directly to Guruvayurappan and prayed that if he wins he will offer Tulabharam using Theertha Jalam.

That time he won prize of 1 crore, thus cobbler became very rich. He came to temple to offer Tulabharam

As he went near Tulabharam counter he was ashamed to tell his offering is with Theertham because of richness

So he told jaggery as Tulabharam. He wore rich dress while entering the temple so to avoid that dress getting dirt while sitting in Tulabharam he wore an extra dhoti

Offering started but even after putting 100kg of jaggery the balance was still low at his side.

Poojari came and asked the man about what he has prayed, as Krishna never accept anything other than prayed. Cobbler tells about his prayers about theertham.Theertham was brought but

Remember Gandhi asked Sardar Patel to make way for Nehru for the Prime Minister post?

Well, later on Gandhi wanted Nehru to step down because of the violence happening in Delhi, & since Sardar Patel was a peasant, wanted him as the Prime Minister for the nation's well being!

Why this sudden change?

हनुमानजी के बारे में कई बातें हैं जो बहुत कम लोग जानते हैं।
शास्त्रों अनुसार हनुमानजी इस धरती पर एक कल्प तक सशरीर रहेंगे।

1.हनुमानजी का जन्मस्थान

कर्नाटक के कोपल जिले में स्थित हम्पी के निकट बसे हुए ग्राम अनेगुंदी को रामायणकालीन किष्किंधा मानते हैं।

किष्किन्धा हनुमान मन्दिर

तुंगभद्रा नदी को पार करने पर अनेगुंदी जाते समय मार्ग में पंपा सरोवर आता है। यहां स्थित एक पर्वत में शबरी गुफा है जिसके निकट शबरी के गुरु मातंग ऋषि के नाम पर प्रसिद्ध 'मातंगवन' था। हम्पी में ऋष्यमूक के राम मंदिर के पास स्थित पहाड़ी आज भी मातंग पर्वत के नाम से जानी जाती है।

मातंग ऋषी के आश्रम में ही हनुमानजी का जन्म हुआ था। श्रीराम के जन्म के पूर्व हनुमानजी का जन्म हुआ था। प्रभु श्रीराम का जन्म 5114 ईसा पूर्व अयोध्या में हुआ था। हनुमान का जन्म चैत्र मास की शुक्ल पूर्णिमा के दिन हुआ था।

2. कल्प के अंत तक सशरीर रहेंगे हनुमानजी :
इंद्र से उन्हें इच्छामृत्यु का वरदान मिला। श्रीराम के वरदान अनुसार कल्पांत होने पर उन्हें सायुज्य की प्राप्ति होगी।सीता माता के वरदान अनुसार वे चिरंजीवी रहेंगे। इसी वरदान के चलते द्वापर युग में हनुमानजी भीम व अर्जुन की परीक्षा लेते हैं।

कलियुग में वे तुलसीदासजी को दर्शन देते हैं। ये वचन हनुमानजी ने ही तुलसीदासजी से कहे थे -

'चित्रकूट के घाट पै, भई संतन के भीर ।
तुलसीदास चंदन घिसै, तिलक देत रघुबीर ।।'
श्रीमद् भागवत अनुसार हनुमानजी
कलियुग में गंधमादन पर्वत पर निवास करते हैं।

"When the Dalit Icon Came Out in Support of the Hindutva Icon"

Most Indians saw assassination of Gandhi as a national tragedy. But Nehru saw it as a stupendous opportunity to eliminate his arch political rival, Savarkar, the icon of Hindutva, who was revered by millions.

What Nehru feared most was resurgence of Hinduism. And the appeal of Savarkar’s Hindutva philosophy and his mass following was a sword hanging for ever on Nehru’s head. Nehru decided to have it removed, once and for all, by implicating Savarkar in Gandhi’s murder.

Accordingly, he got Savarkar arrested on Feb 6, 1948 , without any specific charge, under the Preventive Detention Act.

When Gandhi Murder trial started in Delhi, his lawyer, Bhopatkar was at a loss to know as to how to defend Savarkar against whom no specific charge was laid.

One fine morning, Bhopatkar got called to the phone at the place where he was staying. When he took the call, he discovered that the caller was Dr Ambedkar.

 ‘Please meet me this evening at the sixth milestone on the Mathura Road’ is all that Dr Ambedkar said.

Accordingly, Bhopatkar drove down the Mathura road that evening and found Ambedkar already waiting for him at Milestone 6. Ambedkar motioned Bhopatkar to get into the car which Ambedkar himself was driving.

Battle of Sarangpur,
Between Rana Kumbha and Mahmud Khilji.
Rana Ji was the son of Rana Mokal Singh by his wife, Sobhagya Devi.
He was the 48th Rana of Mewar and succeeded Rana Mokal Singh in the year 1433 CE as the ruler of Mewar.

One of the assasionator of Rana Kumbha's father, Mahpa Panwar was given shelter by Mahumud Khilji, who was the sultan of Mandu.
Rana Ji demanded Mahpa Panwar from Mahmud Khilji, but he refused.
This was the main reason for Rana Kumbha to attack Mandu.

In 1437 AD, both the army met at Sarangpur, in which the army of Rana Kumbha crushed the army of Mahmud Khilji, after this defeat Khilji's army fled in all the direction.
Rana Ji captured Kjilji and brought him to Chittorgarh where he was kept in jail for 6 months.

To commemorate this victory Rana Kumbha built the great Vijay stambha in Chittorgarh.

Atikaya was the son of Ravan's second wife Dhanyamalini. He was considered very powerful and elusive. His body was as huge as a mountain. Like his father Ravan, he was a great devotee of Mahadev.

According to some legends Mahadev had taught archery to Atikaya. Due to which he had become a great archer.He did severe penance of Brahma ji. Pleased with Atikaya's penance, Brahma ji gave him a divine chariot and many astras.

He had also received an impenetrable armor from Brahma ji. Atikaya caused heavy destruct!on in the vanar sena. He started defeating great warriors.Then he had a fierce battle with Lakshman ji. Both of them started att@ck!ng each other with divine weap0ns.

Lakshman ji att@cked the Atikaya with a Agni Astra. But Atikaya failed this att@ck with his Varunastra.Vayu Dev told Lakshman ji that you should att@ck the Atikaya with the Brahmastra.
