For days leading up to yesterday’s electoral college certification, posters used social media sites like Gab and Parler, encrypted messaging platforms like Telegram, and the pro-Trump forum The Donald to organize and share information.

Some messages on the pro-Trump forum The Donald urged the murders of Democratic leaders like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

As the mob prowled the capitol complex, some used livestreaming sites like DLive to boast of occupying lawmakers’ offices. Some even streamed from Nancy Pelosi's office.

While fringe sites aided and amplified yesterday’s mayhem, some of the biggest names in tech have abetted the coalescing of the violent far-right, online extremism researcher @MeganSquire0 told me.

As someone whose been researching BREXT, TRUMP + RUSSIA for a couple of years, it's pretty amazing to see the media suddenly starting to ring alarm bells - after yesterday's FASCIST COUP attempt! Too many have been positively incurious or complicit with boosting TRUMP + BREXIT.

The number of JOURNALISTS and CITIZEN RESEARCHERS who have been trying to investigate the links between TRUMP, BREXIT and RUSSIA is remarkably small, and so tiny that we have all more or less found each other on Twitter... I think this is shameful.

Below I will try to credit some of the people who have made important contributions and tried to explore different aspects of this terrifying, sophisticated and wide-ranging attack on democracy... Some won't want public acknowledgement because of the associated attacks + dangers.

Carole CADWALLADR : @carolecadwalla : has done more than anyone else to highlight the role of social media, data mining and profiling in attacking DEMOCRACY. Her warnings and scoops have been studiously ignored by many in power.

I think about the reports that Trump was excited by the invasion of the capitol because he thought it would derail the count, and it makes me think of a quote from the movie Boondock Saints: "Television. Television is the explanation for this. You see this in bad television."

In reality, there was zero chance that a violent assault on the capitol would have changed the outcome of the election, unless it was our own military doing it. An actual *physical* coup without military support? No.

And in fact, in reality, the more "successful" the assault was, the less likely it would be to affect the outcome. Had they succeeded in executing a congressperson on TikTok or whatever? They'd have killed their movement.

I believe that if they hadn't interrupted the process, the objections and debate would have been more successful in prolonging the process. But because of them, half the senators got cold feet and the remaining ones didn't even use their debate time.

Because they were attacked in their own chambers, because they were interrupted, it became a point of patriotic pride for Congress to finish the vote last night. Without that push, the objectors could have stretched it out, potentially for days.

The relationship between education and government of and by the people is self evident. Education- like roads and libraries, is a public good. But education is, as I've written before, incompatible with ideologies built on lies.

Trumpism and education are incompatible. This isn't a partisan statement. There are Republicans, like @RepKinzinger , who reject the dishonesty at the very foundation of Trump's bid to reverse our election.

But where education concerns truth, Trumpism is built on lying.

There's a vast, well-funded network of organizations dedicated to souring public support for higher education. They have been enormously successful.

Education is popular and incompatible with the fossil fuel industry's goals. But trashing education itself isn't a winning message. Most parents want their kids to have access to the economic mobility that higher education has historically offered (before the debt crisis).

1/ In @RayDalio's perspective, we are at the very late stages of the long term debt cycle. These long term debt cycles typically take 50-75 years to play out. This cycle began in 1945 when World War II ended and we began the US dollar-dominated world order.

2/ In the words of @RayDalio, "Right now, the world’s major central banks have the least fuel in their tanks since the late 1930s so are now in the later stages of the long-term debt cycle. Because they come along about once in a lifetime most people aren’t aware of them."

3/ Central banks have spent the last decade in a race to see who could devalue their currency the fastest. Near 0% interest rates have meant increased printing of the dollar, euro, and yen. Central banks no longer have the ability to tighten credit so they print money.

Some random reflections on yesterday:

As a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol--the legislative center of the world's superpower--I couldn't ignore the significance of the date.

For one, this was the traditional date of the Epiphany, when Christ was revealed to the nations with the coming of the Magi.

Here you have nobles traveling a long way to pay homage to a baby who was born with nothing, wrapped in rags and laid in a a feeding trough. Our God came in humility and peace.

It's also the Optional Memorial of St. André Bessette--a Quebecois, religious brother, barely five feet tall, a doorman too "lowly" to be a priest.

My 2 cents.

After what we have witnessed over the last 4 years, it should be grossly obvious to all of you what we are fighting, how it works, who the players are and how the system is rigged against everyone.

The majority of America has absolutely no clue how bad it is.

It’s just the truth. It isn’t a dig or a put down in any regard.

What I saw yesterday was something we all know has been on the back burner in the hearts and minds of Patriots for decades. They have had enough and do not want to continue on the current trajectory.

Violence will never resolve disputes. It is impossible.
That is why the Country was thought through so thoroughly 244 years ago. An attempt to end violence to solve disputes among the ideologies of free thinkers.

A robust debate must remain or we are finished. Period.

What you are seeing now is the result of 100 years of Americans being complacent, busy, self absorbed, selfish and just plain ignorant..
