In March 1947, Edwina arrived in India along with her husband Lord Louis Mountbatten who was sent as the last British viceroy to oversee the independence and the partition of the country.

Documentary Facts of Taj Mahal :

Shahjahanโ€™s own court chronicle, the Badshahnama, admits (PN 403, vol 1) that a grand mansion of unique splendor, capped with a dome was taken from the Jaipur Maharaja Jaisigh for Mumtazโ€™s Burial & the building was known as Raja Mansinghโ€™s Palace
