Yet another thread about white supremacist terrorism--which again, is very clearly what we are dealing with. Not just according to me, but law enforcement. So I am going to do a little explainer about what these people want and where their skinheads are at right now.

To start with, I'm not talking about the “armed protesters.” There is overlap but not all goobers with giant guns are like this. The most violent white supremacist terrorists, though, are a lot like AQ or ISIS. Again, some actively nurture that connection. https://t.co/ibK8gvbpmg
We know they have been actively training and recruiting current/former military and law enforcement for years. Many attempted serious terror attacks that thankfully were prevented, like this one by a Coast Guard officer who made a kill list of Democrats. https://t.co/AsvcUjDbGa
What really makes these groups similar to ISIS is that they also want to trigger the end of the world as we know it. People like that are very dangerous, and they are currently emboldened because they believe the U.S. government is on their side--for now. https://t.co/DsAfkEY5AW
They are also shitting themselves at the thought of a progressive presidential administration committed to addressing racial/gender inequality and gun control, among other markers of an evolved civilization. These are people who want to take us backward, to a darker time.
From their perspective, their entire ideology and way of life, what they have been brainwashing themselves with for God knows how long—it’s all about to slip away. Imagine the stakes for them!
They've been preparing for this moment for a long time. The USG is on high alert for insider threats and two members of Biden’s inaugural security team were removed for militia ties. Many militias overlap with or are infiltrated by white supremacist terrorists. This is no bueno.
To summarize: the Nazis are angry, and they are scared. They are also well-prepared and they are very sneaky. We saw how at the #CapitolRiot, they used the mob as camouflage to try their dirty tricks. They might try that again.
Please remember what I said about what to watch for. Let’s hope we get through this without anyone dying. Stay safe, everyone. https://t.co/d6SO6klcfX

More from Society

So, as the #MegaMillions jackpot reaches a record $1.6B and #Powerball reaches $620M, here's my advice about how to spend the money in a way that will truly set you, your children and their kids up for life.

Ready?

Create a private foundation and give it all away. 1/

Let's stipulate first that lottery winners often have a hard time. Being publicly identified makes you a target for "friends" and "family" who want your money, as well as for non-family grifters and con men. 2/

The stress can be damaging, even deadly, and Uncle Sam takes his huge cut. Plus, having a big pool of disposable income can be irresistible to people not accustomed to managing wealth.
https://t.co/fiHsuJyZwz 3/

Meanwhile, the private foundation is as close as we come to Downton Abbey and the landed aristocracy in this country. It's a largely untaxed pot of money that grows significantly over time, and those who control them tend to entrench their own privileges and those of their kin. 4

Here's how it works for a big lotto winner:

1. Win the prize.
2. Announce that you are donating it to the YOUR NAME HERE Family Foundation.
3. Receive massive plaudits in the press. You will be a folk hero for this decision.
4. Appoint only trusted friends/family to board. 5/
Imagine if Christians actually had to live according to their Bibles.

Imagine if Christians actually sacrificed themselves for the good of those they considered their enemies, with no thought of any recompense or reward, but only to honor the essential humanity of all people.

Imagine if Christians sold all their possessions and gave it to the poor.

Imagine if they relentlessly stood up for the widow, the orphan, and the foreigner.

Imagine if they worshipped a God whose response to political power was to reject it.

Or cancelled all debt owed them?

Imagine if the primary orientation of Christians was what others needed, not what they deserved.

Imagine Christians with no interest in protecting what they had.

Imagine Christians who made room for other beliefs, and honored the truths they found there.

Imagine Christians who saved their forgiveness and mercy for others, rather than saving it for themselves.

Whose empathy went first to the abused, not the abuser.

Who didn't see tax as theft; who didn't need to control distribution of public good to the deserving.

1/“What would need to be true for you to….X”

Why is this the most powerful question you can ask when attempting to reach an agreement with another human being or organization?

A thread, co-written by @deanmbrody:

2/ First, “X” could be lots of things. Examples: What would need to be true for you to

- “Feel it's in our best interest for me to be CMO"
- “Feel that we’re in a good place as a company”
- “Feel that we’re on the same page”
- “Feel that we both got what we wanted from this deal

3/ Normally, we aren’t that direct. Example from startup/VC land:

Founders leave VC meetings thinking that every VC will invest, but they rarely do.

Worse over, the founders don’t know what they need to do in order to be fundable.

4/ So why should you ask the magic Q?

To get clarity.

You want to know where you stand, and what it takes to get what you want in a way that also gets them what they want.

It also holds them (mentally) accountable once the thing they need becomes true.

5/ Staying in the context of soliciting investors, the question is “what would need to be true for you to want to invest (or partner with us on this journey, etc)?”

Multiple responses to this question are likely to deliver a positive result.
