Christmas has been & gone, we are in a new year but it is all sounding & feeling very similar to where we were. This time we are ready. We are hurt, we are saddened but we are standing up for what matters and we are united with one aim to see our loved ones #rightsforresidents

Over the last week there has been a lot of anger & frustration building up. Will our loved ones get a vaccine, many still haven’t, goal posts get moved, &the gap widens between 1st/2nd vaccine, will it change the visiting guidance, will we ever see them again,no one will answer!
We hear that Covid+patients are to be discharged into care homes, again. There is a plan, does anyone know it? Where are these designated homes, how will they be managed, will staff be completely separate&where are they coming from?will our loved ones be safe? Can this happen again?
Rights for residents is just that, a campaign to stand up for the #Rightsforresidents in care homes, our loved ones - young adults, children and older people - ignored and forgotten, but not by us
These rights include vaccines, hospital visits/discharges but our primary campaign was & is visits rights. For too long we have been separated from our loved ones, families torn apart & plastic screen put between us - at best
We will continue to campaign, for now, as we have been through the media & lobbying those in power or positions of authority& with care providers directly. We would not put our loved ones in danger, others or each other, by physically protesting, esp whilst it is not allowed.
We desperately need & are asking for 1 essential family carer per resident to visit to be enshrined in law, to keep our loved ones from dying of loneliness and isolation. This must never happen again
There are enough tests PCR/LFTS for each person to help minimise risk. If they can discharge Covid patients into care after a negative test, then why can this not apply to an essential carer. If they can test all essential workers - why not us?
We hope that going forward we can renew old friendships and build new partnerships with more care providers, charities, governing bodies, campaigners and all in social care.
At the end of the day we all want the same thing, don’t we? For those in care, young or old, to feel happy, safe loved and the touch of their families hand. This must never happen again. #RightsforResidents

Fake chats claiming to be from the Irish African community are being disseminated by the far right in order to suggest that violence is imminent from #BLM supporters. This is straight out of the QAnon and Proud Boys playbook. Spread the word. Protest safely. #georgenkencho

There is co-ordination across the far right in Ireland now to stir both left and right in the hopes of creating a race war. Think critically! Fascists see the tragic killing of #georgenkencho, the grief of his community and pending investigation as a flashpoint for action.

Across Telegram, Twitter and Facebook disinformation is being peddled on the back of these tragic events. From false photographs to the tactics ofwhite supremacy, the far right is clumsily trying to drive hate against minority groups and figureheads.

Declan Ganley’s Burkean group and the incel wing of National Party (Gearóid Murphy, Mick O’Keeffe & Co.) as well as all the usuals are concerted in their efforts to demonstrate their white supremacist cred. The quiet parts are today being said out loud.

The best thing you can do is challenge disinformation and report posts where engagement isn’t appropriate. Many of these are blatantly racist posts designed to drive recruitment to NP and other Nationalist groups. By all means protest but stay safe.
