Why at a time when states are struggling to deal with increasing kidnappings?

Maybe Saif’s anti-Hindu family history can explain

 Saif’s ancestors came to India from Afghanistan & rose to power under Mughals. They assisted British against Hindu kings in establishing empire. Saif’s family has ISI connections. One of them was top choice for ISI chief post. Saif is proud of it all, and named his son Taimur
Said’s ancestry in India begins with arrival of Salamat Khan in 1480 AD. Babur, Timurid ruler of Kabulistan, defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in first Battle of Panipat and established Mughal rule. Salamat’s great-grandson Muhammed Pir rose to power in Akbar’s court

Salamat’s descendent Alaf Khan helped Mughals in battle against Hindu Maharaja of Jaipur and was rewarded with Kalam mahal (which today is known as Pataudi House neat Delhi Gate).
From same family, Faiz Talab Khan helped British against Marathas.
As reward, Faiz Talab Khan became first Nawab of newly established princely state of Pataudi in 1804. Saif was (symbolically) anointed 10th Nawab after death of his father Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi in 2011

Doolittle is weirder and worse than I expected. It pulls the Hunt for Red October language trick but for animal noises, and introduces the concept of the Doctor talking to animals three times in the first fifteen minutes, in case you forgot.

This movie is a higher budget FARCE OF THE PENGUINS.

Apparently it's Dolittle.

I was not prepared for just how bonkers that was.

At one point, Dolittle's boat blows up, so Antonio Banderas gives him a new one. And everyone is hanging out on it as they sail and they hear a voice say "company!"

Star Wars has a simple dichotomy between good and evil. But as the stories have evolved, the nuances between these distinct poles also has acquired a richness that is hard to dismiss.

In the latest trilogy, we discover a dysfunctional civilization even after the defeat of the empire. The argument that the remnants of the empire make is that the galaxy stills seeks a need for order. Order and chaos are at seperate poles where evil is aligned with order.

We know however from D&D alignment charts that good and evil, order and chaos can exist in many combinations:


It is also interesting that the Sith (the Evil sorcerers) only come in pairs as opposed to the Jedi that can be entire communities. Apparently, to sustain evil one has to restrict agency and individuality to just a few. A community of evil-doers very quickly turns on itself.

So at one extreme we have evil, order, individuality and at the other we have good, chaos, collective. Which brings up the question, what is the definition of evil and good? Something that we took for granted ever since the first Star Wars movie.

I've been watching the Netflix chess show and it reminded me of the time I beat Garry Kasparov. A thread 👇 1/

So it was back in the old USSR (I gave that title to my old friend Bruce for his songs) in the late 80s. As usual, there were 24 games. On the opening day I sat across the table from Garry and tried to out psych him with my famous penetrating stare 2/

I was shocked by his audacious first move: Queen's pawn to Q4! Outrageous! Especially since he was playing black... I left immediately and spent the rest of the day in my hotel, consoling myself with some delicious Cos D'Estournel Grand Cru 1988. 3/

By day two I had drunk so much high quality wine that I was barely able to focus on the board and was seeing double. However, with two sets of chess pieces at my mental disposal, I was able to access hitherto unknown forms of play. 4/

I began with the "Triple Bishop Castle", and followed with "The pawn Tsunami". For those who are eager to learn, the latter move is when all eight of your pawns reach the opponents side of the board and are simultaneously converted to Queens. 5/

The Shining came out in 1980, so given that the audience already knows what's going to happen to all these poor colonists, the kid riding around on the Weyland-Yutani bigwheel tricycle has gotta be a reference to little Danny Torrance.

Fun fact: The original ALIEN broke me of my childhood ambitions to be a starship captain, because when 2/3ds of the crew is dead and someone needs to hunt a malevolent acid-blooded alien through the spaceship with a flamethrower? That's you, motherfucker.

The divine abode of Mallikarjuna Swamy (Jyotirlinga) and Devi Brahmaramba (Shaktipeeth).

When Ganesha was married before Kartikeya, he left in anger to Kraunch mountain. Shiva and Parvati also followed him there.


Shiva assumed the form of Jyotirlinga and resided on the mountain by the name of Mallikarjuna. Mallika means Parvati while Arjuna is another name of Shiva
It is also said that once, a princess Chandravathi, saw a cow shedding milk on a rock resembling a shivlingam.

She started praying to the lingam daily and used to offer jasmine (mallika pushpam) daily. Pleased Shiva appeared before her and agreed to wear jasmine garland (mallika pushpmala) on his head permanently. Since then, Shiva became known as Mallikarjun Swamy.


At this place, Shakti took the form of Bhramaram (bee) to kill Arunasur and settled as Bhramaramba Devi. The place is a Shakti Peeth as the neck portion of Devi Sati fell here.

It is said that by merely seeing the hill, one is emancipated from all his sins and worries.

Ashta Siddhi

Ashta Siddhi is mentioned in Patanjali Yog sutra and can be obtained by very few through countless years of practice and devotion to all eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga.

Siddhi can loosely be translated as accomplishment or a special power or unusual skill.


The eight Siddhis are:

1. Anima: Reducing one’s physical self to the size of an atom.

2. Mahima: Expanding one’s physical self to infinite level

3. Garima: Making one’s physical self so heavy as immovable by others

4. Laghima: Becoming almost weightless


5. Prapti: Being able travel anywhere in the Universe

6. Prakamya: Can know & understand what is going on in one’s mind. Can understand other person’s min.

7. Ishitva: Possessing title of Bhagwan

8. Vashitva: A seeker can subdue any person/thing

Hanumanji not only possessed all eight siddhis, but was also blessed by Sita mata as “Ashta Siddhi Nau Nidhi Ke Daata”.

When Hanumanji first reaches to Lanka on his mission to find Sita, he makes use of anima so as to be discrete in enemy territory.


He uses it again when he approaches Sita mata for the first time – reducing his size to that of a schoolboy, to avoid scaring her. He uses mahima to outwit & overpowers
the demons.

1/ I am seeing more and more founder secondary in venture rounds (Secondary = founders selling some of their shares before some other shareholders are able). Series B-D. I see both as an investor and through entrepreneur circles.

2/ I like secondary for entrepreneurs. Moderation is key but in a lot of situations I think it helps accelerate the co. Lots of very smart investors disagree. Here are my thoughts.

3/ Magnitude: My basic rule of thumb from what I see is market is 4+ yrs and up to 10% of founder’s equity stake with some $ cap that makes sense given stage etc. (typically <$10m)

4/ The entrepreneurial journey is brutally hard. Giving some financial relief helps remove one piece of pressure. I don’t think that secondary in the magnitude mentioned impacts the drive/persistence of great entrepreneurs.

5/ That secondary means they will be able to just sleep knowing they can pay their kids’ tuition. Secondary will make most founders better at their jobs, thus accelerating the co.
