From a friend who ran a catering business

1. If you happen to over-salt your gravy dish or soup, just drop in a peeled potato, and cook. The potato will absorb the excess salt.

2. When boiling eggs, add a pinch of salt to keep the shells from cracking.

3. Never put citrus fruits (Oranges, Lemons, limes) or tomatoes in the fridge. The low temperatures degrade its aroma and flavor - That's why our tomatoes don't last long!

4. To clean iron cook-ware, don’t use detergents. Just scrub them with salt and a clean, dry paper towel.

5. When storing empty airtight containers, throw in a pinch of salt to keep them from getting stinky.

6. When making a gravy (stew) you accidentally burn it, don't panic! Just pour it into a clean pan and continue cooking it. Add sugar, a little at a time, tasting as you go, to avoid 'over-sugaring' it. The sugar will cancel out the burned taste.

7. Burned a pot of rice? Just place a piece of white bread on top of the rice for 5-10 minutes to draw out the burned flavour. Be careful not to scrape the burnt rice off the bottom of the pan when serving.

Lord Shiva has five faces called Ishana, Tatpurusha, Aghora, Vamadeva and Sadyojatha. These five faces of Shiva represent the five basic elements viz. akash, air, fire, water and earth.

In fact these faces can be called five forms of Shiva.

Any creation has to be made out of these five gross elements. The 1st form or face called Ishana, is the first physical form of Shiva. This form gives us pleasure that is enjoyed by our physical body.

This is represented in the form of organs of hearing and speech in our body and in the form of subtle sound and the celestial sphere or akash. It may be recalled that ancient rishis got the sound of Vedas only from akash.

The second form or face is called Tatpurusha, the second physical form of the Lord. This form is identified with prakrti or the source of objectivity. This is the home of atman. This form is represented by organs of touch, organs of action, and is the subtle form of air.

Third form is Aghora is the physical form of Shiva and is identified with cosmic intellect. This form is represented by eyes, feet and dharma. This is identified with rupa or physical structure and the subtle form of fire.

Good morning. A Parenting Story

Every year Rohan's parents took him to his grandmother's house for the summer break, and they would return home on the same train the next day.

Then, one day Rohan asks his parents:

After a brief discussion, parents agree.

Here, they are - standing on the train station, greeting him, giving him one last tip through the window, as Rohan continues to repeat:

The train is about to leave and his father whispers:

′′Son, if you suddenly feel bad or scared, this is for you! ′′

And he slips something into his pocket.

Now, the boy is alone, sitting on the train, without his parents, for the first time...

He looks at the scenery through the window that scrolls..

Around him strangers hustle, make noise, enter and exit the compartment, the controller comments him that he is alone..

A person even gives him a sad look...
So the boy is feeling more uncomfortable..

The next category - the 4th pillar of democracy. But the pillar is stinking because the so called watch dogs of democracy - have been pissing in the same place where they are standing. Includes @sardesairajdeep @GargiRawat @PrannoyRoyNDTV fluctuation @navikakumar and Co.

Then there is next breed called the twitter celebs - who blow hot and blow cold. One day they will be on this side, the next they will be fence sitting and out supporting the other side. Their only aim is to get likes, followers and RTs - in other words, Twitter TRPs.

Then we have folks who think they are Lord of all they purvey. Their own house is stinking with pending cases of over 4 decades where cases suffocate with no light or oxygen but are bothered about Govt. supplying oxygen,

You have to fight the temptation to strip the future of its surprises.

4/ Will you default to the norms of your industry, or will you be original? 

Your business exists in the context of a marketplace, but also in the context of your life.

You have to be willing to overcome the defaults and orient your business around the things that define you.

Too much intellect without a sense of self can inflate your ego.

This is why a lot of high IQ people lack social intelligence.

They talk to humans like robots & are baffled when they are resented for it.

This is why the charismatic person who knows less often rises up quicker

Incorrect.

That's a limiting belief.

And like most people, we were like 'yea, sure!'

But there's few incorrect thought patterns here

1. Success is subjective.

2. IQ exam insinuates intellect is fixed.

Success it's a mirror image of where you are & where you want to be.

Aka sense of self.

So measuring success starts from looking within, not an exam.

Make them irrelevant > Hold a grudge

Holding a grudge is the easy thing to do.

But holding a grudge is not the right thing to do.

A grudge puts poison in your body & rewires your subconscious mind.

You consume the poison & destroy your reality while your attacker sleeps like a baby.

Whenever people call me an elitist, I am flummoxed. I am from a working class background, I am a product of public education my entire life, and I spend my free time creating a podcast that aims to make great books accessible to all for FREE.

I am called an elitist because I believe there's a difference between literary art and plain fiction. I believe some books are more worthy of your attention than others. Lots of books are like junk food: pleasurable but not nourishing.

My podcast is dedicated to the idea that great books are for everyone and everyone deserves a chance to learn to enjoy them. This is not an elitist enterprise. It does, however, suppose that some books are truly worthy of your attention and that I have some capacity to judge.

My podcast doesn't pretend to be exhaustive. I have limited resources and time and perspective. But the conceit of the podcast is that in listening to it you will deepen your literary and philosophical education. These aren't just books I happen to like and hope you do too.

My podcast highlights books I think you will benefit from reading. Many of them are challenging; one might have to struggle with them before one can enjoy them at all. The podcast aims to help get you to the enjoyment/appreciation stage, to show that the struggle pays off.
