It’s really hard to gauge what’s happening on the ground, with no internet service aka other people’s perspectives. You only have your own. Here’s my firsthand account of what happened at the Capitol building last night.

First of all, I’m realizing now my perspective re: Antifa’s involvement was incomplete bc by the time I got to the Capitol, it had already been stormed.
I was farther back in the “storming”. The people around me were angry patriots. Antifa infiltrators must’ve been ahead bc when I got up there the windows were already broken. I stayed behind bc I heard about the woman who was shot and the people who had “adopted” me as part of
their group bc I was alone didn’t want to be near the tear gas (we got separated and I was tear gassed anyway at least 3 times).
Last night and this morning I had been really upset that “our” patriotic actions were being described as “rioting” and other patriots were distancing themselves from it, calling us Antifa.
Keep in mind it was blisteringly cold, relentlessly windy, we had all been on our feet for at least 4-6 hours since the Trump rally. I can only speak for myself but Trump’s speech was disappointing to me. He invited us all to D.C. Everyone said he wouldn’t do that so we could
watch him lose. He hinted at revealing something new and after waiting for hours for him (and he was an hour late), so far back I could barely see or hear him, I was more so looking forward to walking to the Capitol and making my voice heard (peacefully of course).
I was alone and was walking really quickly to the Capitol because I wanted to be ahead. The only reason I wasn’t in the front is bc I found someone with a loudspeaker and played the song from Last of the Mohicans that Q posted on my phone - which everyone seemed to love
But the closer I got to the Capitol the more “angry” the energy felt. I think a lot of people felt like me, disappointed and frustrated (on top of freezing, exhausted, hungry etc). Being on the steps of the Capitol (which we had to basically climb through scaffolding to get to)
is completely different from being at home, comfy, watching it all happen with a logical mind. When you’re there, the emotions take over. The years and years of being denied justice. The years and years of delay after delay, betrayal after betrayal, the incessant corruption.
If you were there, on the steps of the Capitol, after hearing Mike Pence betrayed us, I promise you you would want to storm the Capitol building too. Because enough is enough and enough was enough months ago. Our forefathers didn’t peacefully create this nation.
They forcefully FOUGHT for the freedoms we hold dear now. At that moment, standing face to face with DC police in riot gear, withstanding tear gas, all I could think about was Christmas Eve 1776. They walked through snow barefoot. The least I could do was deal with some tear gas
to protect what they died to secure for us. It’s hard to think “logically” in that moment especially when you have zero awareness of how your actions are being painted to the rest of the world. There were patriots who were so angry they were crying “we’re mothers and
grandmothers. We’re normal people like you, not the enemy. Don’t fight us, JOIN us”, pleading with the cops to let us through. Others wanted to get in that building and refuse entry to congressmen until they were legally voted in bc “WE DIDN’T VOTE FOR YOU, DOMINION DID”.
Antifa may have been ahead of us, but from where I was standing, I saw patriots everywhere. I saw a man with 2 prosthetic legs and a prosthetic arm, refusing to leave the capitol. I saw fathers with their sons, I saw veterans and former military people, all standing their ground.
We were peaceful but we were not compliant. We were exercising our rights and being civilly disobedient, chanting “WHO’S HOUSE? - OUR HOUSE”. It was chaotic and at times scary, but if I were to go back I wouldn’t change a single thing.
The media will never show you this perspective, and even our side is placing all the focus on Antifa’s actions, not those of the patriots who stood our ground for hours last night.
Looking back on Trump’s “come to DC it’ll be wild” tweet, I can’t help but think he knew something like this might happen. It’s hard not to feel like a “pawn” in this game but maybe part of the plan required showing Congress the anger of the American people, front and center.
I have no doubt in my mind if Biden is inaugurated as President, there will be a civil war in this country. They have no idea how big this sleeping giant is, and it’s waking up bigly.
I also have no doubt in my mind Pres. Trump has a plan to prevent that. It’s hard to watch this happen but as others have said, now the crime has been completed. Now everyone is exposed. Patriots are at the precipice and there are 13 days left. Patience is mandatory.
But aside from that, I know GOD has a plan and I trust Him more than anyone or anything else. I was praying the Lord’s Prayer incessantly at the Capitol last night. I know He will deliver us from evil, in His own time.

More from Government

Let me take a stab at this after years of reporting on Marine One, HMX-1, Continuity of Government, etc. None of this is definitive, but it could help explain what folks are seeing:

1.) HMX-1, which flies the VH-3D and VH-60N 'White Top' helicopters used to move... 1/X

the President and VP around, those helos being called Marine One or Two when either is onboard, need to train. The urban landing zones, including WH and VP Residence, are not simple to get in and out of. So, crews need some currency training. They are not just tasked with... 2/X

moving POTUS and VP to get them around the region and to Andrews AFB for long-haul flights, they are essential to Continuity of Government operations. This means that if a threat were to emerge, they need to be ready to snatch POTUS and VP in minutes. This is partially... 3/X

why they have a full forward operating location at Naval Support Activity Anacostia, just 3 miles from the WH. As such, practice is important and considering the state of things, it is critical now more than in any recent memory. 4/X

2.) Considering what happened last week, including mobs of Trump supporters screaming in unison to hang the VP for doing what the constitution states, absolutely despicable in every way, security has been tightened just as it has been all over. Using the helicopters instead.. 5/X
This article by Jim Spellar for @LabourList misses the point about why Labour needs to think seriously about constitutional reform - and have a programme for it ready for government.

The state of our constitution is a bit like the state of the neglected electric wiring in an old house. If you are moving into the house, sorting it out is a bit tedious. Couldn’t you spend the time and money on a new sound system?

But if you ignore the wiring, you’ll find that you can’t safely install the new sound system. And your house may well catch fire.

Any programme for social democratic government requires a state with capacity, and a state that has clear mechanisms of accountability, for all the big and all the small decisions that in takes, in which people have confidence.

That is not a description of the modern UK state.
