AKASA GANGA THEERTHAM - Tirumala, Tirupati
Akasa Ganga Teertha, is around 5 km from the Tirumala main temple, the Holy Water comes out as a natural stream between hill rocks.
This sacred water is used for Srivari's daily abhishekam.

It is commonly believed that this Akasa Ganga originates from the Lotus feet of the main deity Sri Venkateshwara Swamy in Ananda Nilayam.
On the day the Lord had made Akasa Ganga appear in the hills the descendants of Tirumala Nambi perform Abhisheka (bathing) of the Lord with water from Akasa Ganga. This is continued even today.
Marriages can be performed here at this holy place.

However, BATHING IS NOT ALLOWED at this site.
Only the family of Thirumala Nambi are allowed to take a holy dip here in this Teertha.
