Significance of offering vada mala to Lord Hanuman:

When Hanuman was a child, he took a liking to look at the Sun blazing in the Sky. He didn't stop with that. He went on to catch the Sun with his hand.

 At the same time, 'Rahu Devatha' was also racing to catch the Sun God to eclipse the Sun.

In the race between Hanuman and Rahu, Hanuman, being the Son of Vayu, the Wind God (Vayuputhra) won with ease.
In appreciation of Hanuman's valor, Rahu Deva sanctioned a boon in whoever worshiped Hanuman with a food item made of Urad Dal, will get relieved from 'Rahu Dosha' or that Rahu Graha will not trouble them anymore.
Further the item offered to Hanuman should be in the form of a garland or bent like a serpent which is how 'Rahu God' appears.

Rahu also admitted that Urad Dal is his favorite cereal and food item prepared with Urad Dal is to his immense liking.

Here we can find Rama, His Consort, Devi Sita, His brothers Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna, and their wives, Urmila, Mandavi and Shrutakeerthi on one platform.

Interestingly, while Rama is normally seen clean shaven, in this temple he sports a mustache.

"This temple is the only temple we have in our country which has Lord Rama’s brothers’ and their wives’ idols installed in the temple”.

The temple is the only Lord Rama temple without Hanuman.
The story behind it is that since Hanuman is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva, followers of the Veera Vaishnavism of Sri Ramanuja Charyulu did not install a Hanuman idol in the temple.

Andal, the One-of-a-Kind Azhwar!

Someone who is engrossed in bhakti with the omnipresent one is termed as Azhwar in Tamil. Among the 11 male azhwars, she is the only one who is female.


Background: Andal, also known as "Godai" or "Mother Earth's Gift," was discovered by a pious brahmin named Vishnucittar, who lived in Villiputtur, a town near Madurai, while doing his daily chores of procuring flowers for the Lord's devotion at the local temple.


"Godai" grew up in a loving and devotional home. Godha grew up listening to Krishna's stories and participating in all of her father's pastimes, such as collecting flowers, Tulasi, and weaving magnificent garlands for Vatapathrasayee, the Lord of Villiputtur.


Her head was full of Krishna-related thoughts from the beginning of her developing stage, and she was completely enamored with him.


She made up her mind to marry Vatapathrasayee even as a youngster, refusing to think of any other human being in the same way. She envisioned what it would be like to be His spouse, playing the role of His beloved and enjoying His presence, such was her love for the Lord.

Koh-i-Noor was first extracted from the renowned "Kollur mine (Coulour or Gani)" diamond mine in the Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, India.

This diamond was owned by the Kakatiya dynasty, which dominated much of the Telugu-speaking regions of what are now Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states in India from 1083 CE to 1323 CE. Its capital was Orugallu (now Warangal).

Around 625 AD, King Pulakesi II of the Chalukya dynasty built the temple of Goddess Bhadrakali to honor his victory over the Vengi district of Andhra Desam.

Later, the Kakatiyas kept this as the left eye of the statue when they adopted her as their "Kula Devatha," giving her primacy over other gods.

Adi Shankara established the Sringeri Peetham as the 1st of 4 amnaaya peetams.

The four being
1. Sarada Peetam at Sringeri.
2. Govardhana Peetam at Puri
3. Kalika at Dwaraka
4. Jyothir at Badarikashramam.

He installed his 4 most prominent shishyas as heads of the peetams.

Sureshwaracharya was assigned to Sringeri as its head.

Sringeri is a corruption of Rshyashrunga giri.

Rshyashrunga maharshi [and his father Sri Vibandhaka Maharshi] did their tapas at this place.

It is at Sringeri that Shankara spent 12 of His precious 32 years!!

That gives you and idea how much He loved this place.

Rshyashruga maharshi had a horn on his forehead, a result of being born to a deer. His mere presence was enough to shower rains!!

Rshyashrunga was one who led Putrakamesthi Yaagam of Dasaratha Maharaj and which resulted in Sri Rama's birth!!

And this is because, most of us are not even aware of an ancient Indian Sage named Kanada, who was the first to formulate the theory of atoms, almost 2600 yrs before Dalton and talk about earth's gravity.


Rishi Kanada was born around 600 BCE in Dwarka, Gujarat and he was the son of a philosopher named Ulka. He was fascinated with the minute detailing of the things right from his childhood. Once, when he was very young, he accompanied his father on a journey to Prayaga.


He saw plentiful grains scattered along the path leading to the shore of river Ganga. It's a tradition in Hindu families to scatter the grains for the ants and birds to feed on them. Suddenly, an ant caught his attention, who was feeding on a rice grain.


He was mesmerised by this very fact that how a small grain of rice becomes food for the ant but to satisfy the hunger of a person so many grains are needed together. This incidence made him realize the importance of a single grain of rice.
