After Shiva burnt Kamadeva & vanished from the place, Devi Parvati decided to win Shiva through penance. She went to her parents to get permission for penance.(1/n )

Father Himavan agreed but mother Mena initially refused. However later, seeing Her sorrowful, Mena agreed to her tapas.Parvati took off her ornaments and wear clothes like Tapaswini. She went to place where Shiva burnt Kamadeva. (2/n)

Restraining mind and all the senses, She started performing tapas. During grishma, She lighted fire all around and sitting in the middle continuously performed japa. (3/n)

During varsha, She performed tapas sitting on bare rock which was drenched. During shita, She sat within the water and continued Her tapas with great devotion day and night without taking food. Like this She continued to perform tapas reciting the Panchakshara mantra. (4/N)

Her mind was peaceful amidst all variations of climate and events. Initially She consumed food and later leaves. Then, She stopped consuming even leaves and continued tapas by fasting. (5/n)

Yantrodharaka Anjaneya Temple, Hampi, Karnataka.

This temple dedicated to pawanputra Hanuman, near the banks of Tungabhadra river was built by dwaita philosopher and rajguru of the Vijayanagar empire, Sri Vyasaraja around +500 years ago.

:It is only in this temple that Hanuman appears in a prayer position. In this image, Bhagwan Hanuman’s crown has been formed by his tail.12 monkeys have been carved around this amulet.

:They represent the 12 days Sri Vyasaraja prayed to Hanuman ji. Each monkey holds the tail of the monkey in front of him but is facing backward. Seed syllables have also been carved around the amulet.

:It is believed that Sri Vyasaraja used to draw a picture of lord Hanuman here on the rocks before offering prayers using charcoal and the sketch disappeared after prayers.This incidence happened for 12 days in a row until he pleaded to bhagwan to appear in front of him.

On the 12th day, Hanuman ji appeared in front of Sri Vyasaraja and blessed him. Hanuman asked Sri Vyasaraja to constrain him in a hexagonal amulet & install him in that place.

1.JALAKANDESWARAR TEMPLE,Vellore,#TamilNadu It's dedicated to God SHIVA is located inside the Vellore Fort. The temple is named Jalakandeswarar,as it is located at a lower height than the temple moat.The construction of the temple began in the year 1274 CE @LostTemple7

2.its construction continued for 50 years.The temple has two courtyards and has a main shrine with a closed path around it and a number of sub-shrines. Inside the Garbha griha, main deity Jalakandeswarar is seen in the form of Shivalinga. @ReclaimTemples

3.Goddess Sri Akilandeswari Amman is seen in separate sanctum in the inner enclosure of the temple. To the outer walls of Amman sanctum one can get the darshan of Vinayaka, Madeswari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Lakshmi & Saraswathi.

4.There is also a Nandi statue in front, facing Sri Jalakandeswarar sanctum.According to puranas, Athri muni installed a Shiva Lingam in this place and worshiped. After he left, without proper maintenance the Shiva Lingam in the temple was covered by an ant-hill.

5. Rain waters in the lower levels of the ant-hill made a tank there. God Shiva appeared in the dream of a chieftain Bommi Reddy who was ruling the region and asked him to build a temple there.

Unkal is an area in the Hubli-Dharwad municipality in #Karnataka. It is estimated to be a 900-year-old temple from the Badami Chalukyan era.Chalukyas built this temple in 11th - 12th century @LostTemple7

It is on old Pune – Bangalore highway NH4, about 3 km north of Hubli city centre. The beautiful, natural, scenic Unkal Lake is located in this area.The Chandramouleshwar temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva. It houses two big Shivalingas.

The main shrine has four entrances in all the four directions. The presiding deity of the shrine, Bhagwan Chandramouleshwar faces east. The other Linga is known as Chaturmukha Linga, literally meaning the four faced Linga.

It was built on the lines of Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal temples. Fables say that the Chalukyans wanted to boast their architectural prowess and wealth to their enemies. To do so, the Chalukyans commissioned anonymous artisans to build this temple overnight.

But, the artisans couldn't complete the work within a night and the temple structure remains incomplete. According to some folklore, the sculptor Jaknacharya and his son built this temple.

2.Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple was built by King Kulasekara Pandya (1190-1216 CE).This popular temple visits over 15000 visitors daily & around 25000 on #Friday !Friday sees the most number of devotees visit the temple with the number going as high as +25,000.

3.Meenakshi Temple also hosts an annual festival called Meenakshi Thirukalayanam that is held in April. A celestial wedding of the god and goddess marks the end of the festival. About 1 million devotees visit the temple during this festival.

4.the temple has been tagged as one of the seven wonders of India along with stunning Architecture.The temple is built using Dravidian South Indian style of architecture, and is one of the most impressive temple structures in South India.

5.The principle deity here is MEENAKSHI, a form of Goddess Parvati. The idol of the goddess is carved in emerald hued stone. The Meenakshi idol has 3 breasts as Meenakshi was born with three breasts and was blessed that the 3rd breast would vanish once meets right man of her life

Adi Shankara established the Sringeri Peetham as the 1st of 4 amnaaya peetams.

The four being
1. Sarada Peetam at Sringeri.
2. Govardhana Peetam at Puri
3. Kalika at Dwaraka
4. Jyothir at Badarikashramam.

He installed his 4 most prominent shishyas as heads of the peetams.

Sureshwaracharya was assigned to Sringeri as its head.

Sringeri is a corruption of Rshyashrunga giri.

Rshyashrunga maharshi [and his father Sri Vibandhaka Maharshi] did their tapas at this place.

It is at Sringeri that Shankara spent 12 of His precious 32 years!!

That gives you and idea how much He loved this place.

Rshyashruga maharshi had a horn on his forehead, a result of being born to a deer. His mere presence was enough to shower rains!!

Rshyashrunga was one who led Putrakamesthi Yaagam of Dasaratha Maharaj and which resulted in Sri Rama's birth!!

This is Kuinini ‘Nini’ Manumua, the woman who was ultimately displaced by inclusion of Laurel Hubbard.

Srikanteshwara Temple or
Nanjundeshwara Temple is a famous Shiva Temple located in Karnataka at the bank of river  Kapila. Temple is also called Varanasi of South. Nanjunda means one who has consumed poison.

Story is  related to the Samudra Mathanam when Paramashiva had to consume halahala.

Parashurama worshipped Mahadeva here to relieve himself from the curse of Mathru Hatya. While clearing the place to do poojas Parashurama's  axe hit the Shivalingam and it began bleeding, that

mark is still visible even today. Thus
it is also believed that Parashurama did Shiva Prathishta here

Sthala Puranam says that, once there was a demon named Keshi who disturbed the people in the area, after  getting blessing from Brahma Deva  and Mahavishnu. Mahadeva appeared

here and killed demon Keshi and blessed this place as Papa Vinashini. Whoever praying to Srikanteshwara or Nanjundeshwara, after bathing in the  Kabini River will be relieved from all sins.
