IMPORTANT, PLEASE DON'T IGNORE
On the evening of 15th March 2013, IST, a meritorious PhD scholar named Neha Sharma (name not changed) was working in her lab, trying to develop a new method of polio vaccination for children in India. She was brutally raped and murdered.. (1/n)

The students of the institute protested, and soon, thanks to the law enforcement of Agra, the perpetrator was thrown in jail, despite his family vehemently trying to save him (December of 2018 his family once again tried to get him bail)
However, Neha's family wants him to be hanged. And he should be.
She was tortured for 30 minutes before she died. Her body was found in a pool of blood, her hands tied behind her back. (3/n)
You can make an impact. Please retweet/quote tweet this thread, tag the officials concerned (I'm sorry, I'm not aware of that) and tweet on your own with #JusticeForNehaSharma
Her soul deserves to rest in peace. (4/n)

Viruses and other pathogens are often studied as stand-alone entities, despite that, in nature, they mostly live in multispecies associations called biofilms—both externally and within the host.

Microorganisms in biofilms are enclosed by an extracellular matrix that confers protection and improves survival. Previous studies have shown that viruses can secondarily colonize preexisting biofilms, and viral biofilms have also been described.

...we raise the perspective that CoVs can persistently infect bats due to their association with biofilm structures. This phenomenon potentially provides an optimal environment for nonpathogenic & well-adapted viruses to interact with the host, as well as for viral recombination.

Biofilms can also enhance virion viability in extracellular environments, such as on fomites and in aquatic sediments, allowing viral persistence and dissemination.
