Focus.
This is how our system of government was designed to work. These soldiers swore to defend the constitution.
They are doing exactly that!
Love this, the quintessential minutemen, and minutewomen, guarding democracy.

This time, the MAGAs were coming.... https://t.co/AjNticJmyq
We cannot ignore yesterday's insurrection and every day that the President remains in office is a threat to our democracy. That’s why I am cosponsoring an impeachment resolution to initiate the process of removing the President from office immediately.
— Rep. Doris Matsui (@DorisMatsui) January 7, 2021
First, the armed insurrection incited by the President is an immediate national security threat. Each day he is in office increases the threat.
Any talk of waiting undercuts the immediacy and seriousness of this threat. /2
Second, the Senate should be given the opportunity to act immediately. If Republican leadership fails to take up impeachment proceedings immediately, that failure is on them. This president has demonstrated that a single day with him left in office is dangerous, every arm /3
of the Democratic party should move as quickly as possible to reinforce this idea and to ensure it has done everything possible to remove him as a threat to our democracy. /4
It's one thing for Republican leadership to once again refuse to hold him accountable, it's quite another for Democratic leadership to accede to *their* desire to move slowly. /5

The story of the Battle of the Bulge continues with an MoT classic. Tanks, Paratroopers, WWII. Alot of detail and history packed into the tweets. Worth your time.

Now let's pass the mic over to @WTFIOGuy for another aspect of this story. What do ya got for us, Ken? https://t.co/vm06m7yDFg
The Operational Environment looked pretty bleak for the "Battled Bastards Of Bastogne" of the @101stAASLTDIV . All this talk of "Patton this..Patton that..".."Commanded massive formations.." ...or did he? We will come back to this question later in the thread. For now..2/

Allow me to introduce the secret weapon Patton had at his disposal..3/

The unit was organized with one battalion, 3 company separates and one headquarters company. Each unit had its specific role that was the personification of MILDEC doctrine...or shall I say PSYOP Doctrine? 4/

Members of the Ghost Army..Post! Name, Rank, and Serial Number Please...

Not just rhetoric, but actions that put lives of Members of Congress and Senators at increased risk.
Thread collecting these reports.
1/ Val Demings - "there was some inside
Rep. Val Demings has just confirmed to @CNN that she believes "there was some inside assistance" for the Capitol rioters.

2/ Ayanna Pressley's Chief of Staff - Staff noticed all of the panic buttons in Pressley's office were torn out BEFORE the attack while they were barricading the room.
According to Ayanna Pressley’s chief of staff Sarah Groh, the panic buttons in the Congresswoman’s office were all “torn out—the whole unit.”

£350m Covid19 award goes to company run by Impellam, where former Tory treasurer has ‘significant interest’. THREAD:

Recruitment firm Medacs Healthcare won the 17 Dec contract to “support medical and clinical services in laboratories” & assist “national testing programme in response to Covid-19”. It’s the 3rd largest Covid-related single award seen by @allthecitizens https://t.co/WjCQXuhTfA

Medacs Healthcare is part of the Medacs Global Group, owned by parent company ‘Impellam Group’. Impellam’s main shareholder & Chairman is Conservative donor Michael Ashcroft. He’s donated £176,104 to the Tories since the pandemic began and £851,029 since 2001.

Lord Ashcroft is listed as having ‘significant influence’ over Impellam. In addition, 56% is owned by the Lombard Trust. In 2010, Ashcroft transferred the 26m shares he held in Impellam to the Lombard Trust; the beneficiaries are his children. https://t.co/Z8gcdRpwKz

Medacs Healthcare is majority owned by Medacs Global Group, which is majority owned by Impellam Group. Medacs Healthcare has also won other Covid contracts: £357,830 on 2 smaller awards to supply temporary health personnel and also was part of two large group contracts.

Despite challenges, we believe we can advance a sensible, coherent, humane and just immigration system by focusing on the following 10
1.) Prioritize the reunification of all separated families and strengthen protections for unaccompanied children.
https://t.co/oh9sHxtiTO

2.) Restore U.S. leadership in refugee resettlement.
https://t.co/oh9sHxtiTO

3.) Ensure COVID-19 relief, testing, and treatment regardless of immigration status
https://t.co/oh9sHxtiTO

4.) Reinstate asylum, suspend deportations, and institute ICE and CBP reforms

What - and who - pushed her into thinking it was the right thing to do.
You might want to consider that many people like her are still out there.
Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but Babbit had it coming.

Crazy thought, but what if we started focusing our efforts on fighting the sources of disinformation that pushed Ashli over the edge.
What if we taught people how to spot propaganda -- especially from their own political side?
If you're left leaning - like me - consider left wing propaganda.
(What? There's no such thing!)
Sure there is. The left scares its voters, same as the right.
(Yeah, but we scare them about REAL crises, not racist nonsense.)
Hmm.
The core idea isn't about left vs right. It's about power, and manipulating people to obtain that power.
And no, I'm not saying that #BothSides practice this to the same degree.
I'm saying we all have blind spots when we agree with what's being said and who's saying it.
When you're inclined to believe some thing A, it might be easy to get you to believe a related thing B. Then thing C, and D, and so on.
Until eventually you believe thing Q.
And as crazy as thing Q is, there are a disturbingly large number of letters that come after it.
