BONUS FACT/ In the last excerpt, I refer to "any aide with whom Trump shared the classified intelligence he received in the [August 17, 2016] briefing." Well you might wonderâwho did he share it with? Answer: we don't know.
But we DO know who was WITH HIM at the briefing: FLYNN.
BONUS FACT 2/ According to Mother Jones and Washington Post reporting, then, we know Flynn attended the August 17, 2016 briefing at which Trump was informed of Russian aggression, and THEREAFTERâbut BEFORE the electionâengaged in clandestine contacts with the Russian ambassador.
Background- we first met @amasad through an intro from @ycombinator. Replit is W18. Amjad's energy is incredible. He's very passionate about making coding easier, more accessible - both to students/kids but also for the productivity of professional software engineers
The emergent behavior from users was awesome - especially from novice programmers, many fo them students in high school. We saw users spending hours of their time building games, chat applications, and much more. Here's an example of a Tetris app:
The company's mission is great, but then we dug into the numbers. They are mind-blowing. 1 million active devs in just a short time! Wow! And we saw linking/embedding to https://t.co/sjjBphbedi across dev communities across the internet, including @StackOverflow. Very impressed.
I primarily focus on consumer here at @a16z - so why get involved? The lines between developer/cloud platforms and consumer applications are rapidly blurring, and this is a great example. The product is all about being easy to use, it grows virally, and people love it
Recent moves by Amazon are an indication not of domination but convergence towards the same drivers of retail success in prior generation. âEveryone eventually becomes their parents.â 1/n
Retail has always been generational. Retail success stories are a graveyard of iconic brand names. Just brutal in how they roll over every generation.
Here are a few from my own childhood that no longer exist.

Historically rollover is due to a secular change in how people both buy and sell stuff. We might call this disruption, but these changes are tied to transport, communication, suburbanization, etc. No mistake, thereâs innovation but in retail this is a response to secular change.
Sears famously was a catalog store (farms!) anchored in appliances, tools, etc. As fashion and shopping malls became big, Sears position would weaken.
Discount stores became a big thing, especially during down economies. That drove innovations like cheap house brands, bulk buys.
The stories of being âdisruptedâ in retail are as numerous as there are defunct retailers. Hey check out https://t.co/7dIEeqNP1f for a whole site of defunct retailers.
Russia hasn't been a willing partner in this treaty for almost 3 decades. We should have ended the pretense long ago.
Naturally, Rand Paul is telling anyone who will listen to him that Trump is making a HUGE MISTAKE here.
Arms control agreements are good when you have willing partners. Lightens the load on our military.

Russia hasnt been a willing partner in years. There will be gnashing of teeth from people who do arms control advocacy full time, but this is right movehttps://t.co/WmQE43ERCB
Rand is just like his dad, Ron. 100% isolationist.
They've never grasped that 100% isolationist is not 'America First' when you examine it. It really means 'America Alone'.
The consistent grousing of pursuing military alliances with allies - like Trump is doing now with Saudi Arabia.
So of course Rand has also spent the last 2 days loudly calling for Trump to kill the arms deal with Saudi Arabia and end our alliance with them.
What Obama was engineering with his foreign policy was de facto isolationism: pull all the troops out of the ME, abandon the region to Iranian control as a client state of Russia.
Obama wasn't building an alliance with Iran; he was facilitating abandoning the ME to Iran.
Obama wouldn't even leave behind a token security force, so of course what happened was the rise of ISIS. He also pumped billions of dollars into the Iranian coffers, which the Mullah's used to fund destabilizing activity [wars/terrorism] & criminal enterprises all over the globe
