Big conspiracy theory right now is that NPR "mistakenly" published news on what conspiracy theorists believe was a planned faked invasion ahead of time. Just look at the time when this was published and look at the headline they are saying! Here's why that's idiotic.

Here's the URL to that story. Notice something about the end of it?
https://t.co/KTpdsjl0Mz sections/congress-electoral-college-tally-live-updates/ 2021/01/06/953616207/ diehard-trump-supporters-gather-in-the-nations-capital-to-protest-election-resul

The end of the URL often encodes a page's original headline. And in this case that looks like "diehard-trump-supporters-gather-in-the-nations-capital-to-protest-election-resul" not the violence piece.

Via the Wayback Machine we can get a snapshot of it from about when it was published, and yep, a different headline. https://t.co/38O7tynorf

Why is that? Well news organizations often run a story in the morning and update it throughout the day as events unfold. When events change substantially, they often change the headline as well.
Here's a thread documenting the epic incompetence of the Trump administration + the GOP in dealing with the pandemic. Some Democratic politicos deserve severe critiques also (Cuomo and DeBlasio being the poster children there) but a national problem requires a national response.

Remember, that for pandemics as well as for climate change, "Speed trumps perfection". Stop obsessing about "optimality". There is nothing optimal about responding to a pandemic or to climate change, just move as fast as you can.

Hey look, the GOP (not Trump) hamstrung the Obama Administration's effort to build up strategic reserves to fight pandemics going as far back as 2011:

Hey look, there was a pandemic response plan developed by national security officials in 2016, which Trump and the GOP ignored:

Hey look, Trump and the GOP disbanded the pandemic response unit in 2018:
Vaccines don't save lives, vaccinations do. The Trump administration's plan to get vaccines in to the arms of Americans has largely failed, with now only 28.4% of the distributed doses administered. Here I propose my vaccination plan, leveraging key locations for vaccination.

First, my initial tweet from over the weekend drawing attention to the

Let's first identify the problem. Operation Warp Speed has excelled at producing a vaccine and accelerating its development, but it's the "last mile" problem that has failed. Underfunded health departments and lack of a federal plan has inhibited rapid vaccinations.

Additionally, America lags behind other nations significantly when it comes to vaccinations per capita. While speed will increase into this month, we still have more work to do.

We have also seen discussion on whether to consider a single-dose regimen in order to speed up vaccinations. There are some valuable viewpoints captured here, but I will not weigh in as I believe that doses administered will never catch up to
Hey @AriFleischer. Manafort was prosecuted because he worked for Trump. @AWeissmann_ went after Trump people until he found crimes or arm-twisted them into pleading on process crimes such as maybe lying about legal things. Every Mueller victim deserves a pardon!

.@AriFleischer Your wing of the GOP likes to whine about MEDIAAA but you guys can’t see beyond what media sells so let me educate you about Manafort: His doors were punched open in July 2017 before @RodRosenstein gave Mueller power to go after non-Russia things. AFTER the raid,

Rosenstein wrote a Scope Memo. In it, he gave Mueller & Thugs the authority to go after 4 people about Russia and each of them also on possible crimes unrelated to Russia and unrelated to the other people such as Manafort’s Ukraine work. Please tell me @AriFleischer what is the

justice of unleashing a special counsel on people rather than on a crime? Wanting to investigate collusion anew (after 12 months investigating turning up nothing) is one level of abuse. But what’s this cruelty of listing names and a free pass to look at other items? Pardon away!

.@AriFleischer Prosecutor abuse is not just when a non-guilty person gets pinched. Abuse can be even if the victim of the abuse has committed a violation such as Manafort. @RodRosenstein had no business appointing Mueller 12 months into the Feds not finding anything. They knew
