Is doing a graduate degree in risk management and insurance worth the money? Why?

 Depends!
#riskmanagement is a broad area which can offer various lucrative roles, especially in the financial sector.
They are a lot of risk management degrees available in the market.
Which one would you like to study?
And where it is being offered?
If the degree will focus more on Insurance Underwriting Management and related Risk Financing Courses, I won't advise you to do such a qualification.

The scope of such a degree won't go beyond Life and P&C Insurance Firms.
If the degree focuses more on Financial Risk Modelling, #ERM, #Cybersecurity, Information Security Risk Management, Lean Six Sigma and Quality Management, R and Python Coding, C language, SQL, NOSQL,VBA,MATLAB, EconoPhysics & #Econometrics, I would advise you to do such a degree.
But the questions remain =>
•How Quantitative/numerate the Degree is? A “GOOD DEGREE in Risk” should include => Inferential Statistics, Time Series, Applied Time Series, Regression Modelling and Diagnostics, Monte Carlo Simulation Methods, Experiment Design and RCTs,
Advance Business Calculus, Actuarial Probability and Statistics, Operations Research, Insurance Math and Econometrics with applications in Market, Credit, Liquidity and Operational Risk Measurement and Modelling.
o(NOT JUST DOING A FEW BASIC XLS EXERCISES in Value At Risk Computation Techniques and Models).

•How it will help you to get a job outside the Insurance Sector? Which is completely dominated by Quants (Financial Mathematicians and Econometricians) and Fully Qualified Actuaries
•How it will help you to compete against Internal Control Testers and Auditors, Financial Engineers, Quants, Actuaries and Financial Risk Management Experts? Note: All of them might be vying for the same risk roles advertised by companies.
Especially Operational Risk management is dominated by ERM and Audit Experts.
•How much of programming will you learn? C++, MATLAB, VBA, PYTHON, R or any other language?
•How Much of DS and Machine Learning technology is taught in addition to CS - Computer Science Programming? Any exposure to AIT - Artificial Intelligence Technology and Deep Learning in Python? Any exposure to Data Mining Techniques using SAS?
•Will the degree teach statistical and financial computation and modelling using MS XLS - VBA Macros Applications? That is total rubbish and outdated if that is the case.
•Will you get an opportunity to model and learn Insurance Derivatives and Structured Products?

This is an emerging area.
•Will the degree teach #Insurance Accounting and Law?

•Financial Regulation? Compliance? #GRC?

Which should include -Solvency II or the ERM framework/s such as #COSO or #IS031000 or others?

Take all the above into consideration before applying.

'Entering the trade'

Entering a trade without ascertaining a certain things is gambling.

In this masterclass we will learn the pre-requisites to enter a trade.

DON'T ENTER A TRADE WITHOUT DETERMINNG THE FOLLOWING.

We understand what reward to risk (popularly called risk to reward) is.
It will be denoted by R:R.

We will also try to bust a few myths about R:R and how to avoid losing trades.

Before entering a trade, you need to determine 3 things.

1. Entry trigger
2. Stop loss
3. Target

1. Entry trigger = Reasons for entering a trade. There could be multiple reasons or a single reason for entry.

Generally a set of reasons AKA confluence is a higher probability trade and a generally a safer entry.

Example of an entry trigger.


2. Stop Loss.

The price in the opposite direction of the trade where the trade is exited, at a loss.

At this level, the reason for the entry becomes invalidated according to TA and the price can then move in the opposite direction, probabilistically.


3. Target is the possible price level that the asset might touch based on previous trends or confluence AND where a possible reversal could occur.

Target is the next path of least resistance from where the price might reverse.

We will always ONLY use TA to determine all 3.

Kani means wetland and Pakam means flow of water into wetland.
Kanipakam Vinayaka is swayambhu (self-manifested). The murti is in a well which is always full of water.


Once, there were three brothers. Each one had a handicap- Dumb, Deaf and Blind. They had a small piece of land for livelihood. For their field, they drew water from a well. One day, they found that the well had dried up so one of them started digging in the well.


His tool hit something and blood oozed out. They found a swayambhu murti of Ganesha here.
Villagers started offering coconut water which overflew into a channel. Hence the name Kanipakam.


The murti is still growing in size. At present, we see the knees and the abdomen only. The Kavacham (Armour) offered to Vinayaka 50 years ago doesn’t fit today.
Vinayaka is believed to be the upholder of truth. So people come here and swear before him to prove their innocence.

1/ A lot of new consumer technologies have been introduced to US households in the last 100 years. But it's taken many of them - like the telephone - more than 50 years to get to the majority of the US. Why is that?


2/ We had to literally teach people how to use phone. Which end goes to your mouth, which goes to your ear. Say "hello" when people call. The motivation of consumers to talk to their friends has always been there, but we had to teach the behavior


3/ If you compare phones to the latest technologies, there's been a huge shift. Things are being picked up much faster.


4/ Even while there's been all this innovation recently, physically speaking, we are still the same human beings from 100,000 years ago.
