Judge Batten recites the conspiracy theory behind the lawsuit and repeats Ga. officials' question:

"Why would Georgia's Republican governor and Republican Secretary of State," whom he notes are Trump supporters, "conspire to throw the election" to POTUS-elect Biden?

It's a question that many people are thinking, Judge Batten notes.

Judge Batten explains the doctrine of laches, which has killed many a Trump suit.

"The law is pretty clear that a party cannot obtain the extraordinary remedy of injunctive relief unless he acts quickly."

Judge Batten notes that Lin Wood and Sidney Powell ask him to throw out the election and declare Trump the winner.

So, deal or no-deal? I'm afraid it looks gloomy. Too many outstanding issues, a political context that is not conducive to compromise, and a tunnel leaking like mad. Quite possibly forming between them a vicious cycle. So, is this it? I suspect not... 1/n

Recall, this UK-EU negotiation is attempting to put in place an agreement unusually extensive (haulage, aviation, security, as well as trade) in a record timescale (9 months start to implementation) at a time of pandemic. That was always optimistic. 2/

A process driven EU against a naive yet overconfident UK in a short timeframe was also never going to be easy. In particular the UK's sole evident negotiating strategy, to say we'll walk away, is still in overdrive, making compromise harder. 3/

On the up side the UK has been inching slowly away from the purist notions of sovereignty which would prevent any deal towards a more realistic haggle over details, but possibly too late to resolve them, barring unexpected deep late concessions from either side. 4/

Geography isn't changing, and trading more with neighbours isn't either. Virtually all countries in the world have deals with their neighbours. It is unrealistic for the UK to be the sole developed country exception. Even if it takes a while. 5/

...[in Philadelphia], yet the voting machine vendor ES&S said that ‘it was ‘simply inaccurate’ for anyone to imply there were widespread issues.’” 2/

Although the GOP wants everyone focused on Dominion, it is ES&S that for years has arguably caused the most concern among election-integrity advocates and experts. I wrote about these concerns in detail here. 3/

Stacey Abrams’s group, Fair Fight Action, created this document detailing concerns with voting machine vendor ES&S, which had the Georgia contract before Georgia switched to Dominion. 4/

Look what happened on ES&S’s watch in Georgia in 2018. The situation w/ ES&S & these vanishing black votes was under congressional investigation when a court ordered Georgia to replace its old touchscreens in time for the 2020 election. 5/

In his roughly 2-min. answer, Pence talked about Hillary Clinton, spying, the Mueller report, Trump’s impeachment, mail-in voting & the FBI. One of the only thing Pence didn’t mention was what he would do if Trump refused to accept a peaceful transfer of power. #velshi

The @HouseDemocrats have released the newest version of H.R. 1, the For The People Act of 2021. Here's a thread highlighting some especially exciting provisions on voting access. (You can read the bill for yourself here:

H.R. 1 is broken into 3 sections: voting, campaign finance, and ethics. This thread will focus on *just one part* of the voting section. Let's go.

H.R. 1 *requires* that states let people register to vote online. (Today, 9 states still don't have online registration laws on the books.)

H.R. 1 would mandate that states adopt "automatic voter registration." This doesn't immediately register everyone, to be clear—but it *does* use the info people provide at participating gov't agencies like the DMV to automatically register them to vote, unless they opt out.

H.R. 1 would mandate same-day registration for federal elections. No more having to register before a deadline. You could show up to vote on Election Day *or* early and register at your polling place before casting your ballot.

Nothing is stopping us from concluding the voting machines have Abby Normal brains - regardless of assurance from a DHS private-public partnership functioning as their PR arm.

We are just supposed to take Dominion Voting Systems’ word that it never used Smartmatic’s source codes, even after it bought the Smartmatic subsidiary Sequoia in 2010, right as it bought scandal-plagued Diebold voting systems (a subsidiary of Premiere) in 2010? Sorry. No.
