 10 months into online classes, isolated from friends and all things fun that the school brought along, kids are feeling lonely, angry, and demotivated to study. Psychologists say it may not be a passing feeling. And it is worrisome
Children with social anxiety are struggling with the spotlight on them during online classes. Instagram creators are making videos on it with the intention of having fun perhaps? But YouTube has very unfunny real videos of teachers being trolled by kids during online classes.
Younger kids are missing out on basic skills like learning to read, do basic calculations, etc. Slightly older ones are showing signs of hyperactivity. They're not doing homework, switching video off and playing games online, some are even getting addicted to pornography.
Kids are acting out. “Earlier, acting out for kids meant spray-painting on public walls, for instance. With that option not available anymore, when they act out, it can be more serious, and it can jeopardise communities,” says @ellenbraaten of @harvardmed.
Doesn't help that across countries, swathes of children from underprivileged communities simply do not have access to basic internet connectivity and electronic gadgets to support education in these times because of inequality and systemic racism.

Then there are unique challenges within communities. Eg.
1) In Indonesia, no culture of kids discussing their feelings with their parents.
2) Families of colour in the US do not talk about mental health and they're suffering more during this period, seeing racism on TV every day
Meanwhile, many countries are contemplating adopting a hybrid schooling model once the virus outbreak subsides. All the more important then that these mental health issues are addressed and attempts are made by parents, teachers, schools, tech platforms, society, to reverse them.
What can platforms do? Get CHILD PSYCHOLOGISTS on product teams. More focus on mental-health-friendly features than efficiency-enhancing ones. The latter comes to product teams naturally so will be added anyway. Also ft. reccos for schools here ⬇️

What can parents do? Firstly, talk to children about mental health and its importance. This quote from Eniola, a child and educational psychologist from Nigeria, is my favourite insight from the story. So simple, so thought-provoking.

Ultimately the onus of boosting a kid’s morale will rest on parents, teachers and, to some extent, the society at large.

Adults will have to broaden their definition of what constitutes learning for children. Most of all, they'll have to learn not to be too harsh on themselves, too.

Working on this story was an eye-opening exercise. One that revealed that there's never been a more pressing need to do right by our next generation, the future of the world.

Beautiful Story of Guruvayurappan

Poonathanam Namboothiri was a great devotee of Guruvayurappan. One day Poonthanam was going to Guruvayur Kshetram. It was night time and eventhough Namboothiri was tired he continued to walk


Suddenly some thieves came and blocked his way. Poonthanam cried for Shri Krishna to help. Thieves snatched all valuables from him, but Namboothiri holding his Bhaghavatam book called Shri Krishna to help. That time a man came in a horse back and fought with thieves and protected


Namboothiri. Poonthanam thanked Krishna for helping him from danger and said to the man that "Shri Krishna has send you here and I don't know how to thank you".  The man smiled and told that he is Mangattachan, minister of  samoodhiris. Poonthanam once again thanked him and


gave his ring to Mangattachan as a token of thanks and continued his journey. He reached Guruvayur early morning for Nirmalya Darshan. Temple poojari came near him and told that Guruvayurappan came in his dreams and asked to hand over the ring to poonthanam.


When he opened Kshetra Nada poonthanam was surprised to see his ring on Guruvayurappan, which he gifted to Mangattachan. He understood that it was Guruvayurappan who came as Mangattachan to protect him. This is how Bhagwan treat his devotees.

Till 3 years he gave lot of troubles to the subjects of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and he personally made Lal Mahal his destination to live at , which was the property of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj . Lal Mahal, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent his childhood.

1. In the April 1663 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj personally made a surprise attack on Shahista Khan in the Lal Mahal Pune.

2. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj attacked with 300 soldiers at the midnight while Lal Mahal had strong security of 1.5 lac soldiers for Shahista Khan.

3. He entered in Pune, he made a drama of wedding ceremony to enter in Pune near Lal Mahal.

LING PURANA: IMPORTANCE AND CHARACTERISTICS

Reading Ling Purana provides bhog and moksha to the reader and listeners. It is about Shiva's sermon to Brahma when Shiva entered the Agni Ling and preached about Dharma sidhhi through the stories of Agni Kalp.


Vyasji divided this into two parts. This book is different from others and has eleven thousand shlokas which depict the glory of Shiva. This Puran is the summary about importance of Tridev.
It starts first with a questions. Then it describes the Shrishti in brief.

Then there is description of Yog and Kalp. Next is the evolution of Ling and its puja Vidhi. It consists of dialogue between Sanat Kumar and Shail etc. It also mentions the character of Dadhichi, the dharma representation of that yug, Bhuvan kosh description,

Chandravansh and Surya vansh. Next there is elaborate description of Shrishti, story of Tripur, Ling and Pashu Paash vimoksha, Vrats for Shiva, Discipline, Repentance, Arisht, description of Shri Shail. Next is the story of Andhakasur, Varah, Narsingh,

k¡lling of Jalandhar, Shiv sahastra naam, story of Daksha's yagya and its destruction, killing of Madan and marriage of Parvati.

Next is Vinayak katha, Shiv tandav, Ambrish katha and Upmanyu .
