There are so many things about moving into a management or leadership role that, on paper, are simple when, in reality, are really freaking hard.

Here’s a short list of simple things that are really hard to do well.

 1. Define and measure what good performance looks like.

There are best practices and there are times to throw out the rules. Establishing those fences takes time and a lot of energy.
2. Teach others what you know.

Teaching is very different than showing. “Do this” is not an effective mode of teaching. Teaching includes providing space to practice new skills without recourse.
3. Knowing when to provide space and when to step in when an individual or team is struggling.

The learning process and sponsoring others requires both. It can be such a grey area and is very much dependent on the individual you’re working with.
4. Sharing enough of the bigger picture while ensuring you don’t share too much.

Providing context is great. Using your team as your therapy session is not so great.
5. Being in service to others when no one is in service to you.

It can be really shitty when trying to be the leader you want to be when you don’t have a leader you want to work for. REALLY FREAKING HARD!
6. Validating the feelings of others; especially when you disagree with them.

Validation isn’t agreement, but validation is a critical step in being empathetic. Separating your feelings about a decision from the decision itself is another hard thing to do.
That’s an incomplete list for sure.

A few predictions of what is likely to emerge

🏦Third Space: Office and Working from Home will be joined by somewhere close by that a number of people will use

Supermarkets or local bank branches should emerge as a convenient ubiquitous location option – if they are smart

⏰Asynchronous Work: Offices are instantaneous gratification distraction factories where synchronous work makes it impossible to get stuff done

Tools that enable asynchronous work are the most important thing globally remote teams need. A lot of startups will try to tackle this

⚽️Hobbie Renaissance: Remote working will lead to a rise in people participating in hobbies and activities which link them to people in their local community

This will lead to deeper, more meaningful relationships which overcome societal issues of loneliness and issolation

🚜Rural Living: World-class people will move to smaller cities, have a lower cost of living & higher quality of life

These regions must innovate quickly to attract that wealth. Better schools, faster internet connections are a must

Make them irrelevant > Hold a grudge

Holding a grudge is the easy thing to do.

But holding a grudge is not the right thing to do.

A grudge puts poison in your body & rewires your subconscious mind.

You consume the poison & destroy your reality while your attacker sleeps like a baby.

The INDIAN NATIONAL FLAG is not just a flag! It's a testimony of patriotism and seamless sacrifice. A symbol representing one of the oldest civilizations on this planet.

After the revolt of 1857, the first Indian flag was designed. The design was based on western heraldic standards with "Union Jack" in the upper-left quadrant and a "Star of India" enclosed in the royal crown in the middle of the right half.(1)


The flag was a symbol of the direct imperial rule in India.(2)

In 1904 the first Indian flag which stood for India's independence from the British was devised. The design was provided by sister Nivedita, an Irish disciple of Swami Vivekananda.(3)


The flag was red and yellow with an image 'Vajra' (weapon of god Indra). The phrase 'Vande Mataram' was written in Bengali on it. The red colour and the yellow colour signified freedom and victory while the symbol of vajra stood for strength.(4)
