यह वह समय था, जब देवगण पृथ्वी पर रहते थे। पृथ्वी पर वे हिमालय के उत्तर में रहते थे। कार्य था पृथ्वी का निर्माण करना तथा उसको रहने हेतु उपयुक्त बनाना और पृथ्वी पर मानव सहित अन्य प्रजातियों (जीवों) का विस्तार करना।

देवताओं के साथ यहाँ दैत्य भी निवास करते थे। तब पृथ्वी मात्र एक द्वीप ही थी, अर्थात पृथ्वी का एक ही भाग जल से बाहर निकला हुआ था। यह भी बहुत छोटा-सा भाग था। जल के बीचो बीच था मेरू पर्वत।

जीवन निर्माण के लिए देवताओं के भी इष्ट ब्रह्मा, विष्णु तथा महेश ने लीला रची और उन्होंने देवगण तथा दैत्यगण की शक्त्ति का उपयोग कर समुद्र मंथन कराया। समुद्र मंथन कराने के लिए सर्वप्रथम कारण निर्मित किया गया।

देवराज इन्द्र को ‘श्री’ (लक्ष्मी ) से हीन हो जाने का शाप दे दिया।

भगवान श्री हरि विष्णु ने इंद्र को शाप-मुक्त्ति के लिए दैत्यों के साथ 'समुद्र मंथन' के लिए कहा और दैत्यों को अमृत का लालच दिया। इस तरह हुआ समुद्र मंथन।

यह समुद्र था क्षीर सागर जिसे आज हिन्द महासागर कहते हैं।

जब देवताओं तथा दैत्यों ने समुद्र मंथन आरंभ किया, तब भगवान विष्णु ने कच्छप बनकर मंथन में भाग लिया।

वे समुद्र के बीचो बीच में स्थिर हो गये और उनके ऊपर रखा गया मंदराचल पर्वत। फिर वासुकी नाग को रस्सी बनाकर एक ओर से देवता और दूसरी ओर से दैत्यों ने समुद्र का मंथन करना प्रारंभ कर दिया।

Srikanteshwara Temple or
Nanjundeshwara Temple is a famous Shiva Temple located in Karnataka at the bank of river  Kapila. Temple is also called Varanasi of South. Nanjunda means one who has consumed poison.


Story is  related to the Samudra Mathanam when Paramashiva had to consume halahala.

Parashurama worshipped Mahadeva here to relieve himself from the curse of Mathru Hatya. While clearing the place to do poojas Parashurama's  axe hit the Shivalingam and it began bleeding, that

Sthala Puranam says that, once there was a demon named Keshi who disturbed the people in the area, after  getting blessing from Brahma Deva  and Mahavishnu. Mahadeva appeared


here and killed demon Keshi and blessed this place as Papa Vinashini. Whoever praying to Srikanteshwara or Nanjundeshwara, after bathing in the  Kabini River will be relieved from all sins.

Starting my 2nd thread on Sringeri Parampara. This will cover the Jagadgurus after Sri Vidyaranya to Sri Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati.

It is really very tough to match the brilliance and achievements of Vidyaranya. After whom came 15 - Chandrashekara Bharati [1386-1389].

The next Acharya was Nrisimha Bharati [1389-1408]. Harihara raya found a town for this Acharya - Narasimhapuram. Acharya helped the king by guiding him in political affairs. He also initiated the kind with mahamantras for spiritual development.

Subsequent Acharyas were
15-Puroshottama Bharati [1408 - 1448]
16-Shankara Bharati[1448 - 1455]
17-Chandrasekhara Bharati II [1455 - 1464]
18- Nrisimha Bharati II [1464 - 1479]
19-Puroshottama Bharati II [1479 - 1517]

20-Ramachandra Bharati [1517 - 1560]. Sadashiva Raya was emporer of Vijayanagara during this time.
21-Nrisimha Bharati III [1560 - 1573]
22-Nrisimha Bharati IV [1573 - 1576]
23-Nrisimha Bharati V [1576 - 1600]

24-Abhinava Nrisimha Bharati [1600-1623]. When he visited Malahanikareswara temple for first time he noticed there was no Vinayaka there so he took piece of turmeric and drew outline of Ganesha on a pillar and offered puja.

Another better version of mahesh chander kaushik is to do it for monthly expiry.

2. 2nd version : have combined stoploss of premiums and re-entry criteria. Example :

Let say 40000 straddle is at 600. Sell at 600 and hav combined sl at 650. Many algos are providing this. U can even place stoploss in % terms. Like, if sold straddle at 400 and placed 10% sl, means if 440 combined premium touch, it will be stoploss.
Let say, in morning,

U sold straddle at 600 and it sl hit at 650. Now, u placed reentry at 600 with same sl. This time may be linear decay happens and u may cover morning's loss and make some profit.
3rd version : stoplosses at each leg and trail sl to cost type.
Example , 40000 straddle at 400.

It is believed that this is birth place of Kashyapa Maharishi’s sons, Arunan& Garudan. Arunan(charioteer of Surya)was physically handicapped.He was a Shiva devotee.Arunan wanted to visit Kailash to have Shiva Darshan,but Surya Dev denied permission.

So Arunan disguised as a girl & was on his way to Kailash.On the way Surya Dev saw this girl & outraged her modesty.Shiva was very angry with Suryan for misbehaviour & cursed him to get darkened. Whole world plunged into darkness.Surya Dev pleaded to Bhagwan Shiv to forgive him.

Shiva Bhagwan asked him to go to Thirumiyachur & worship him there. As advised, Surya Dev performed rigorous penance, placed murthi of Shiva& Parvathy on an elephant & took them to the clouds.Shiva in this temple is known as Meganathaswamy,Devi is known as Lalithambigai

Located in Southern Bangalore, this is one of the most popular places of worship in Bangalore City.
Devoted to Devi Banashankari, this shrine is visited specially during Rahukala which is believed to be an unfavorable time.


Somanna Shetty, a great devotee of Devi, brought this murti from Badami’s Banshankari Amma Kshetram.
It is said that many years ago, three ladies visited this shrine and requested the pujari to conduct puja for them. Since it was the inauspicious rahu kaal, the pujari refused.


However, upon their insistence, he conducted the puja. When he returned with prasadam, the ladies vanished. This made the people believe that they were none other than the Devi herself. Since then, the people perform poojas here during the Rahukaal.

People use lemons as a diya. Lemons are cut from the centre and their pulps are removed, for pouring oil in them.
It is strongly believed that Devi removes all the troubles from the life of her devotees during the Rahukala although it is considered inauspicious for any pooja.
