Let's talk menstrual cups and periods. Ask me whatever questions you have and I'll do my best to answer.

I have been using a cup since June 2020 and it has literally freed me. I use a Sirona Small. I've answered some really common questions below.

 1. The best way to find your size is a finger test. You will need to insert a finger in your vagina and then find your size. This video will help you:

2. Don't go by the descriptions on the menstrual cup website. Your age has nothing to do with your cervix size. Your size can't be changed unless you give birth. So, you have to measure it. Make sure to measure it when you are close to your period.
3. When you pick a brand, pick one that is FDA approved. This ensures the brand has used quality silicone for the cup. You can check the measurements for Sirona Small and approximate for other brands. I bought mine from Amazon.
4. Women have 3 different holes which connect to three different systems in the body. Your vagina connects to the reproductive system. Your urethra or pee hole connects to the excretory system and your poo hole/butthole is the final step of your digestive system.
5. Why am I talking about this on Twitter? Because we keep matters about periods buried so deep. It makes no sense to not talk about it. We talk about mental health, so I vote we start talking about periods too.
6. I'm a man, why should I know this? Because there is no reason for you not to. Your mother, sister, or friends will be going through periods. You should know what it is, know that many get cramps and know what periods are. It's time to normalize this.
7. A cup will break my hymen? No. I found this interesting video online which said a hymen is simply a film with small holes covering your vagina. It is not a curtain that blocks everything. The holes are meant for your period flow to pass. So, you won't "break" anything.
8. Why cups? A sanitary pad is made majorly out of plastic, bleached cotton and other chemicals to mask the smell. It takes 500-800 years for one pad to decompose. The soaked blood develops germs once thrown which causes infections in ragpickers.

Menstrual cups are made of medical grade silicone. Silicone is NOT plastic. It doesn't absorb anything from your vagina, thus minimizing chances of infections. That's why an FDA approved brand that does required quality checks.
9. But period blood is impure/dirty. How can I touch it? Just to smash this redundant thought, when a woman becomes pregnant, the same blood+lining becomes food for the fetus. So, this blood is really not impure. This is your own body we're talking about.
10. I'm scared, what do I do? It is very natural to be scared. It took me a few months to get the hang of it. I ordered the wrong size which was problematic. Once I got the right size, it was a breeze. But using a cup is like doing anything new. There are jitters. But go for it

11. How I remove the cup: I have not cut the tail of my cup. I sit on my toilet seat, breathe in and push (like how we push to poop). The muscles push the cup a little towards the vagina. I pinch the cup to break the seal and then use the tail to gently pull it outside.
I empty the cup in the toilet, wash it with water and reinsert it. It is very simple, takes very little water and doesn't make a mess anywhere.
12. How to keep the cup clean: Before and after your period, make sure to put the cup in boiling water for 5 to 10 mins to sanitize it. Once you take it out to empty it, clean it with water and reinsert.
13. How many years can a cup be used? Many say a cup can be used for 10 years. However, I have read accounts where women change it in 5 to 6 years. Depends on the care you take.

Academic staff at universities can't be open about the complaints against them - and most complaints of transphobia from students seem to be directed at staff. I'm just a final year PhD student, under no contractual requirement to be confidential, so I can share.

The original complaint against me was typical of the sort of thing directed at many female professional academics (and some male too). The strategies employed by my complainants are commonly used.

One of these is to perform vulnerability while behaving aggressively. Performing vulnerability is essential in order to trigger the university's awareness of its duties under the Equality Act, and establish an oppressor/victim dynamic to the case from the outset.

My complainants did this effectively. The complaint was initiated by a fellow PhD student, who joined forces with the SU. A student from the SU wrote the actual complaint. This is how it begins:


In all my dealings with @HuddersfieldUni I accepted that sometimes anonymous complaints were necessary - and that, sometimes, victimisation could be a concern. However, I have never victimised anyone. Nobody has ever argued that I have.

The reason that so many conservative evangelicals these days appear to be moral relativists is that they *are* moral relativists.

They would deny this, of course. But that doesn’t make it any less true. Here's why.

They’ve bought into the premise that all statements are either fact or opinion: facts are objective and verifiable; and everything else is opinion—subjective and unverifiable. In other words, they've bought into full-fledged modernism.

From there, the secular path to moral relativism places all moral statements in the “opinion” category. On this view, morality is subjective—dependent on cultural context, historical background and the like.

Conservative evangelicals recoil from this approach, as they should.

So instead, they place morality in the “fact” category, claiming that moral truth is objective and empirically verifiable.

And how is moral truth empirically verified? The Bible, of course. Problem solved.

This is tempting, for two reasons. First, Scripture is entirely true; and much of that truth pertains to morality.

Second, apart from special revelation, it’s difficult to imagine where we might go to find empirical verification of moral truth—you can't *see* moral properties.

... as Christians is just to ‘believe’ in Christ and that lack of good works does not affect one’s faith in Christ. My brother and sister, this is big lie from the pit of hell. It doesn’t matter who is saying it or how big their ministry is, it goes against the scriptures ...

... and is against the Truth.
Our opening scripture tells us that it is not enough to simply believe in Jesus; there must be accompanying works to prove it. In fact, Jam2:19 says even demons believe that there is one God and His only begotten Son is Jesus.

However, they don’t obey Him or submit to His will. In order words, submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the total will of God is the proof of faith. Jesus said “not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will ...

... of My Father in heaven.”(Matt7:21) and “for whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” (Matt12:50).

Rom3:28 NIV - “For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.”

1/People I know on the Right tend to be obsessed with the idea of "crimethink", taboos, and the (supposedly) oppressive, omnipresent enforcement of liberal cultural norms.

Why?

My new theory: A lot of it is guilt.

2/It's true that in some circles - the media, universities, many big corporations - liberal norms *are* enforced to some degree, and the enforcement has probably gotten stronger in recent years.

But I don't think this explains all of the Right's obsession.

3/The stereotype is that people on the Right tend to be more threat-sensitive. That would help explain the perception that liberal norm-enforcers are lurking everywhere, ready to pounce and anathematize anyone who makes a misstep.

But I don't think that's all of it either.

4/And of course, it's always fun - whether you're on the Right or the Left, or playing a video game, or whatever - to style yourself as the brave iconoclastic rebel fighting against the oppressive forces of blah blah blah.

But I don't think this is all of it, either.

5/The reason I think it's more than these things is that even *in private*, people on the Right express their "crimethink" ideas very gingerly and hesitantly.

I get the sense that they're not just afraid of external censure, but have also internalized liberal norms.

'Treasure Gods' - Sangha Nidhi' and 'Padma Nidhi', Tirumala, Tirupati.

These are the two guards guarding the Wealth and Treasure of Lord Sri Venkateswara.

They are representatives of two treasures of Kubera, the God of Wealth.


One guard who is holding shangam (conch) on both the hands is known as Shanka Nidhi ('nidhi' means wealth).

On the other side, the guard who is holding Lotus flowers on both the hands is known as Padma nidhi.

Shangu is from the ocean which includes all types of wealth like pearls and corals.

Why shagam in his hand? Because shangam only gives the sound of 'omkaram'.

'Padmam' is the symbol of water sources in land like river, lakes, tanks etc. which is very important for all living beings.

As per the tradition, these guards are installed at the third entrance of the temple.

One enters the holy shrine after saluting the first protection threshold - Sankha Nidhi and Padma Nidhi.

It is said that Narsimha’s fierce nature is soothed by worshipping him with Varaha, considered a peaceful deity


The shrine is believed to have been constructed by Prahlada. With time, it crumbled.
In Treta yuga, King Pururava was passing from here in his vimana. The vimana was attracted to this place by a mystic power.
When the place was unearthed, the deity was found.

Pururava’s wife, Urvashi, had a dream that the deity should remain covered in sandalwood paste for the whole year except on Akshaya Tritiya.
This practice has continued till date.
The mukhya mandap here, has a pillar kappam stambham believed to possess curative powers.


Chandanotsava/ Chandan Yatra is the most important festival celebrated on Akshaya Tritiya. The sandalwood paste is removed from the moolavar deity and nijarupa darshan (original form of deity) for twelve hours of the day are done by devotees.
