Bollywood is going through an unimaginable crisis.
Many big budget films are rotting in the cans while most under-production films are stuck.
The multiplexes are bleeding and single screens are gasping for breath.
The OTT platforms have become really choosy.
Who will report this?

Nobody from the journalism world seem to be interested to report this.
So here's a thread about how Bollywood has been severely impacted by the recent events and how it might be a body blow to the entertainment industry as we know it, if the situation doesn't change in six months

I was chatting with @taran_adarsh today.
He says that most big banner films are wait-listed for the theatres and they have all been rescheduled to 2021.
But here's the problem.
There will be a huge backlog as and when situation normalises in 2021 and people come back to theatres.

But the worst sufferers, as @taran_adarsh, concurs with me, are productions on a budget.
They are the ones which have and will be suffering the most because of lack of space.
"This situation is beyond anybody's control. Nothing can be done. We can just wait and watch," Taran says

OTT platforms haven't been able to come to the rescue.
The recent debacle of few over-hyped films have put them on the backfoot.
Nobody is ready to shell out dollars without watching the content and calculating its viability. The OTT sell prices on offer have drastically reduced.

It’s the tried-and-true formula of one last job/heist/assignment. A longtime bad guy leaves the life of crime in pursuit of peace and quiet, but naturally gets dragged back to his old haunts and habits to settle a final score.

But “John Wick” breathes exhilarating life into this tired premise, thanks to some dazzling action choreography, stylish visuals and–most importantly–a vintage anti-hero performance from Keanu Reeves.

Toward the end of the film, a menacing Russian mobster remarks that the veteran hit man John Wick looks very much like the John Wick of old. Keanu Reeves looks very much like the Keanu Reeves of old, as well.

Elegantly handsome and athletically lean, he looks fantastic at 50 and is comfortably, securely back in action-star mode.

Not that he’s been gone that long or deviated that much from his persona but this later stage. Neeson’s recent resurgence in movies like Taken,The Grey and Non-Stop.

Right, so since I got a bottle of Australian white going through my system, its just as well I capitalise on that & do a drunk movie review. Its "The Chronicles Of Riddick", a film I have a love-hate-relationship with. Excellent visuals & one liners, but atrocious plot & casting.

This btw is the Directors cut of the film. So there's like 15 minutes of extra footage explaining to us all the bad choices David Twohy made in producing a sequel to PITCH BLACK, that clearly looked at Lord Of The Rings and then just ran through three lines of cocaine.

For what its worth, thats not a rip on Twohy himself, but realistically speaking CHRONICLES vs PITCH BLACK makes Cameron's ALIENS look like the petting zoo-sequel to "Hey, why not get a guinea pig for Christmas" pet choices of Ridley Scott's ALIEN.

Just to substantiate this claim, this is the first I dunno 15 seconds of the film. Wth is going on right?! Again, stupifiying visuals but context people!

In the opening moments of "Top Gun," an ace Navy pilot flies upside down about 18 inches above a Russian-built MiG and snaps a Polaroid picture of the enemy pilot. Then he flips him the finger and peels off.

It's a hot-dog stunt, but it makes the pilot (Tom Cruise) famous within the small circle of Navy personnel who are cleared to receive information about close encounters with enemy aircraft.

And the pilot, whose code name is Maverick, is selected for the Navy's elite flying school, which is dedicated to the dying art of aerial dogfights.

The best graduate from each class at the school is known as "Top Gun." And there, I think, you have the basic materials of this movie, except, of course, for three more obligatory ingredients in all movies about brave young pilots.

Navy jet pilot during the Vietnam era, until he and his plane disappeared in unexplained circumstances.

The plan was to get back to Abeokuta as early as possible this morning.
Before I slept, I treated myself to some nice fish, chips and fruits salad. 🌚

So woke up around 6 ooo.. prepared and started my journey.
Traffic dey Lagos Ibadan expressway so I followed Otta...
Bad road of course! From one pothole to another. 🙄 all of a sudden my stomach started to turn. Haaa!

I started sweating from inside.
I turned off the music. I turned off the AC!!
I wind down small...

I'm increasingly interested in the idea of "personal moats" in the context of careers.

Moats should be:

- Hard to learn and hard to do (but perhaps easier for you)
- Skills that are rare and valuable
- Legible
- Compounding over time

4/ Before the arrival of recorded music, what used to be scarce was the actual music itself — required an in-person artist.

After recorded music, the music itself became abundant and what became scarce was curation, distribution, and self space.

5/ Similarly, in careers, what used to be (more) scarce were things like ideas, money, and exclusive relationships.

In the internet economy, what has become scarce are things like specific knowledge, rare & valuable skills, and great reputations.
