The 30k BMC myth

To some people on this street, those who support and fight to defend 🇳🇬 and the govt are recipients of a monthly 30k stipend as a reward for pushing back on naysayers. To these people, you must be paid to believe in 🇳🇬 or fight for govt of the day. What a shame!

2. The Patriots you love to insult and curse are regular pple like you just that they have strong conviction that 🇳🇬 will succeed. That said, alot of folks have benefited from this govt numerous intervention programs but still bash the govt whereas very few of the Patriots have
3. had such opportunities. A number of us have been shouting that this govt is highly deficient in the use of SM. Alot of govt programs don't receive the visibility they should simply cos some govt agencies have contracted their PR work to pple who only submit reports but lack
4. digital footprints in this age of social media engagement. We have pple in govt who award PR contracts to friends and cronies thereby rendering SSAs and other media aides redundant within the govt. How can you be paying millions for PR without getting mileage out of it?
5. A very laudable program as the Social Investment Program not have that wide social media space? You have an SSA on Social Investment but someone somewhere contracted the PR job to a company that was only sending newsletter to the same body that it's working for. We complain
6. that the govt is being hit by the opposition yet nothing has changed. The few social media aides who were trying to do their jobs have had their wings clipped. We have Ministers who know nothing about the effectiveness of SM as well Governors who see SM as cut and paste.
7. Buhari's govt will continue to lose out on social media engagement with the way things are being run. I will give great kudos to PDP for having very strong SM teams....you can't take that away from PDP...... they're always ahead simply cos they have a structure.
8. Social media kills & makes lives. Enough of the insults and attacks innocent people endure fighting for this country. I will give special recognitions to @iyaboawokoya @olusogaowoeye @ishakaa @fimiletoks @jeffphilips1 @JohnFanimokun @trolls_queen @the_davidatta etc for their
9. sacrifices even at very high costs they have remained steadfast. These are very successful pple in their rights pple tag 30k BMCers. As we await 2021, @OfficialAPCNg needs to put its acts together, @ynabena should find a way to put a strong media team together. Please wake up.
10. And to all the Ministers and Governors who have refused to empower their SSAs on Digital media, come 2021 you will carry your cross. I am calling on SW APC governors to wake up. You need to market your activities and achieve....you don't keep a lantern under the bed.

Fake chats claiming to be from the Irish African community are being disseminated by the far right in order to suggest that violence is imminent from #BLM supporters. This is straight out of the QAnon and Proud Boys playbook. Spread the word. Protest safely. #georgenkencho

There is co-ordination across the far right in Ireland now to stir both left and right in the hopes of creating a race war. Think critically! Fascists see the tragic killing of #georgenkencho, the grief of his community and pending investigation as a flashpoint for action.

Across Telegram, Twitter and Facebook disinformation is being peddled on the back of these tragic events. From false photographs to the tactics ofwhite supremacy, the far right is clumsily trying to drive hate against minority groups and figureheads.

Declan Ganley’s Burkean group and the incel wing of National Party (Gearóid Murphy, Mick O’Keeffe & Co.) as well as all the usuals are concerted in their efforts to demonstrate their white supremacist cred. The quiet parts are today being said out loud.

The best thing you can do is challenge disinformation and report posts where engagement isn’t appropriate. Many of these are blatantly racist posts designed to drive recruitment to NP and other Nationalist groups. By all means protest but stay safe.
First thread of the year because I have time during MCO. As requested, a thread on the gods and spirits of Malay folk religion. Some are indigenous, some are of Indian origin, some have Islamic

Before I begin, it might be worth explaining the Malay conception of the spirit world. At its deepest level, Malay religious belief is animist. All living beings and even certain objects are said to have a soul. Natural phenomena are either controlled by or personified as spirits

Although these beings had to be respected, not all of them were powerful enough to be considered gods. Offerings would be made to the spirits that had greater influence on human life. Spells and incantations would invoke their

Two known examples of such elemental spirits that had god-like status are Raja Angin (king of the wind) and Mambang Tali Arus (spirit of river currents). There were undoubtedly many more which have been lost to time

Contact with ancient India brought the influence of Hinduism and Buddhism to SEA. What we now call Hinduism similarly developed in India out of native animism and the more formal Vedic tradition. This can be seen in the multitude of sacred animals and location-specific Hindu gods
