Story says that, the Krishna Vigraham was worshipped at Edakkalathur. The people wanted to protect the Vigraham as villagers faced difficulties. So, they carried the Vigraham to Namboodiri of Kachanappilly illam and thus Prathishta was done here.

The Story of Bhagavathy is related with Kodungallur Amma. Kachanappilly illam were devotees of Kodungallur Bhaghavathy and due to their Bhakthi Devi came to their illam. The chaitanyam was later transferred to the garbha griham here.

Kandiyoor Mahadeva Temple is located on the banks of Achankovil River in Mavelikkara. Kshetram is one of the 108 Shiva Temples in Kerala, also called Dakshina Kashi.

Mrikandu Muni who was taking a bath in the Ganga river, got a Vigraham of Parama Shiva in the form of Kiratha Murthy. As he took hold of the Vigraham, he heard a voice saying to take the Vigraham to a place of his wish, and to do Prathishta there.

Mrikandu Muni started his journey in search of a suitable place. Finally, he reached the banks of Achankovil River and felt, it was a suitable place. He did Prathishta here, and thus is story of Kandiyoor Temple, which was previously called Kandathil Nalla ooru( beautiful place

ever seen).

Bhagwan is called Kandiyoorappan and is worshiped in three forms or bhavas. In the morning the rituals will be conducted to as Dakshina Murthy, in the noon Umamaheswara Bhavam and in the evening it is as Kiratha Murthy.

ADI SHANKAR AND SRI SURESHWARACHARYA

In the town of Mahishmatipura, there lived Mandana Mishra. He was the disciple of Kumarila Bhatta who lead the Poorva Mimamsa school of philosophy.
Kumarila Bhatta, once, asked Adi Shankara to have a debate with Mandana Mishra.

When Adi Shankara arrived at Mandana Mishra’s house, the doors were closed as he was performing some rituals.
Despite this, Adi Shankara went in. This was disliked by Mandana. A debate started between them where in Adi Shankara questioned the need for rituals.

Ubhaya Bharti, wife of Mandana Mishra, was made the judge as she herself was extremely learned. It was decided that both men would wear a garland. The person whose garland would fade first, would be the loser. Adi Shankara won the debate. Mandana became disciple of Adi Shankar.

He was given the name Sureshwaracharya and he went on to head Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham.

Metrical commentaries/ vartikas by him gave him the name Vartika-kara. His other works include commentary Manasollasa on Sri Shankara's Dakshinamurthi-stotra and Panchikarana-vartika.

Panachikkadu Sarasathi Kshetram is also called Dakshina Mookambika. Eventhough this is a Mahavishnu temple importance is given to

Saraswathi devi. Temple is one among 108 Durga temples in Kerala.

Story says that once there lived a Namboodiri at Kuzhippuram Illam. He went to Mookambika with an intention to worship Devi and seeking her blessings to have a son. He spend years in the temple and returned home

On return, at Panachikkadu he placed his Olakuda ( Umbrella) down and went to bath. Namboodiri was not able to lift the Umbrella later, but heard a voice telling that Devi Mookambika was with him accompanying in the Umbrella. Thus Prathishta of Devi was done here.

Saaraswatha Grutham is given to the children from the temple which is a medicine for boosting memory power by the blessings of Devi.

JAMBUKESWARAM : KATHA

Pancha bhoota sthal near Tiruchi (TN) where Mahadev is worshipped along with Devi Akhilandeswari. It represents the element of water (appulinga).

It is said that a Rishi meditated under a jambu (crab apple) tree. This gave him the name Jambu.

Once, he went to Kailasha and offered the fruit to Mahadev. The seed which Mahadev spat out was taken by Rishi Jambu as prasadam.
A tree then sprouted out of the Rishis’s head. Shiva told the Rishi that in due course, Ma Parvati would install a shivlingam under that Jambu tree.

Much later, an elephant started worshipping this shivlingam by offering water to it from his trunk. A spider also worshipped by making a web over the shivlingam to protect it from falling leaves.
This enraged the elephant. So the spider entered its trunk and strung him to death.

Trapped inside, the spider also died. This spider was born later as Chola prince Kotchengannan (one with red eyes). He built 70 Shiva Mandirs and the present Mandir was also built by him. The base of the lingam is always in water and the entrance is only 4 ft high

2/ Modi has invested his all in a fund that is most valuable to him - a fund he, together with his team, actively manages.

The fund is, India.

That fund comprises of national security, healthcare, economy, social empowerment and so on.

He is long India.

3/ If you track Modi’s public addresses or social media posts, almost 75% of them pertain to the ‘boring’ stuff.

Kisaan Sammaan Yojana, Jan Dhan, rural empowerment, LPG, strengthening the defense sector etc.

India grows if all its sectors grow - the 'boring' approach.

4/ Kanhaiya, Hardik, Tikait etc are relied upon by forces inimical to India to go short on India.

Going short on something essentially means you bet that it’ll fall in value.

You don’t actually invest in / own the asset because your position is that the asset will lose value.

Now that it is clear that the people protesting the #FarmBills have been misused like pawns by organisations such as ‘Poetic Justice Foundation,’ which are open supporters of Khalistan, we should step back and understand the true ramifications of this situation.

Thrikkuratti Mahadeva Kshetram is one of the oldest temples in Kerala. It is believed that the temple wall was built by Bhoota Ghanas.

Temple is also among the 108 Shiva Temples in Kerala.

Story of the temple is about King Mandhata, who performed 100 sacrifices for the welfare of his people. One of the yagas was held at the present site of the temple. The king named this place Mandhathapuram, which means the place famous for yagas. Later came to be known as Mannar

It is believed that Parashurama did Shivalinga Prathishta when Mahadeva appeared in Homagni which the King performed.

Sahasra Kalasha Abishekam is very special here. Maha Shivaratri is famous here.

SHATTILA EKADASHI

The importance of Shattila Ekadashi is to make people understand the divine blessings and benefits associated with making donations and offering food to the needy and poor.
Most significant aspect of the day is maximum use of sesame seeds (til).

Once there was a rich woman who made huge donations to the needy in the form of money and valuables. However, she never donated food. So one day, Krishna went to her in the form of a beggar and asked for food. The woman tried to send him away. Krishna kept on asking for food.

So the angry woman put a clay ball in his begging bowl and Krishna went away. When she went inside her house, she found that everything had turned into clay.
From then on, whatever she purchased turned into clay. She had to starve without food.

She turned to Krishna and prayed for forgiveness. Krishna advised her to donate food to the poor and needy on the day of Shattila Ekadashi. The woman did so and regained her health and wealth.

RISHI BHRINGI AND ARDHA-NAREESHWAR SHIVA

Rishi Bhringi was a devoted bhakt of Mahadev. However, in his devotion to Shiva, he ignored Mata Parvati.

Once, he visited Kailasha along with other Rishis. All the Rishis did parikrama of Shiva and Parvati both except Rishi Bhringi.

The same situation continued whenever Rishi Bhringi visited Kailasha. Mata Parvati decided to teach him that Shiva and Parvati are one and inseparable.
So on one such visit, Mata Parvati sat on the left lap of Mahadev when Rishi Bhringi came.

Seeing this, Rishi Bhringi took the form of a bee(some say bird) and did pradakshina/ parikrama only around Shiva’s head and ignored Ma Parvati.
Angered Mata took away the Shakti from his body. Rishi lost his blood and flesh and was left with a bare skeletal form.

Seeing him in such a situation where he was unable to support himself, Shiva granted a third leg to him.
Shiva then fused one half of his body with that of Ma Parvati and appeared as Ardha Nareeshwar.
Rishi Bhringi finally realised that Shiv and Shakti are one and the same.

According to the Sriranga Mahathmiyam, Lord Vishnu in the Sri Ranga Vimanam sprang up from the depths of the milky ocean as a result of the tapas of Brahma, carried by Garuda, his mount with Perumal resting on Ananthan or Adi Sesha 2/N

Brahma was informed that Lord Maha Vishnu would appear like this in 7 other places on earth - Srimushnam, Venkatadri, Saligramam, Naimisaranyam, Thotadri, Pushkar and Badri but of all these places Srirangam would be the earliest

Brahma was also informed that Lord Maha Vishnu would appear as a Swayamvaktha ie in his original form as an idol at these places.. Brahma then carried the glittering Ranga Vimana and installed it on the banks of the Viraja river..

I assumed that Periyava was teasing me and hence I responded, “Periyava, how come the Pallavas had timepieces in their olden days?”

“It is there, it is there…! Try to see it when you go there next time”, He replied emphatically!

“Did you see the clock?”

“No Periyava, I did not know where to look for!”

“Did you see Arjuna’s Thapas?”

“Yes.”

“Just below that Arjuna’s thapas sculpture, there will be a river flowing. There is also a Vishnu temple. And nearby

you can see a Rishi seated. And just below, one can see some people seated and chanting the Vedas! And there will be a person who is seen removing the water from his clothes and another person will be doing his Madhyanikam (Sandhya vandanam at noon).

Iranikulam Mahadeva Kshetram is one among 108 Shiva temples in Kerala of which Prathishta was done by Parasurama.
Two temples are situated in the temple compound called Thekedathappan and Vadakedathappan.

Thekedathappan temple, Sadasivalingam is believed to be the original Linga prathishta done by Parasurama.The Two layered Round Shri Kovil is very famous. There are two Nandi Bhagwan here in Thekedathappan temple. One inside and other outside.

Abhishekam or pooja is done only to Nandi Vigraham inside. Vadakedathappan temple is considered to be built later by the local rulers.

The Vadakkedathu temple is made of Panchaloha Vigraham of Mahadeva, Parvathi Devi and Subramanian on a single Peedam.

MAHADEV AND BHAKTA KANNAPPA/ THINNADU

A couple of Boya caste in Udumooru village of Andhra Pradesh had a son Thinnadu. He was good at archery and was a Shiv Bhakt.
Everyday Thinnadu hunted a wild animal and offered it on a Shivlinga in the forest mandir.

The same Shivlinga was worshipped by a Brahman who was horrified at the way Thinnadu made the blood-smeared offering to Shiva.
One day, when the Brahman was near the Mandir, he saw Thinnadu coming carrying a dead animal in hands and water in his mouth for offering on Shivlinga.

But that day, Thinnadu saw blood oozing out from the left eye on the Shivlinga. He tried to apply forest herbs but blood did not stop. So Thinnadu cut his left eye and placed it on the Shivlinga. Blood stopped immediately.
Now the right eye on Shivlinga started dripping blood.

Thinnadu decided to offer his right eye too but without eyesight he would not know where to place the eye on Shivlinga correctly.
So he lifted his leg and put his toe on the right side of Shivlinga to mark the place where he would put his eye later.

Shiva then appeared n stopped him. The brahman also realised the fierce n true devotion of Thinnadu.
Thinnadu got the name Kannappa Nayanar (he who offered his eye to Prabhu).
The forest Mandir is revered today as Kannappa Mandir, Srikalahasti.
