One paper, it looked like United lined up in a 4231 however that was not the case on the pitch. OGS always like to use a hybrid of 2-3 formations in the different phases of the game. United in this case used 4-2-2-2 in possession which, in the final phase became a 4-2-4. #MUFC

Pogba was used wide left and Fernandes wide right as a 10 double pivot but the wide forwards. It is difficult to call Martial and Rashford STs in this game as the move wide a lot ( Hybrid Wingers/Wide forwards) & interchanged with Pogan and Fernandes. You'll see below. #MUFC

One of the main principles in United's playing style under OGS, the front 4 are always fluid; they interchange with each other frequently. Both teams were not concerned with their 2nd phase which resulted in an E2E game with a lot of space in midfield for quick transitions. #MUFC

Saeed Ajmal made his international debut at the age of 30 against India in an ODI on 2 July 2008. In that match Ajmal only managed to take one wicket that of Yusuf Pathan from his ten overs , returning with the figures of 1/47 in an winning effort.

Little did we knew that this man would go on to become one of the best spinners of his generation.

Saeed Ajmal played 35 tests, 113 ODIs 64 T20Is for Pakistan in which he managed pick up 178 test wickets @ 28.1 , 184 ODI wickets @ 22.7 and 85 T20I wickets @ 17.8 (I.e 447 international wickets) .

In his ODI career Ajmal picked up 8 4- fers and 2 5-fers with his Best Bowling Figures being 5/24. In the year 2013 Ajmal picked 62 wkts joining a elite list of bowlers who have picked 60+ ODI wkts in a single calendar year.

Twice yesterday I heard announcers mention players who were fathers. One player is the father of 2-year old twins. I couldn't help but think of the sick, twisted fact that NCAA rules prevent schools from paying him a salary that would allow them to provide those kids. (2/?)

I don't know the individual circumstances of the players metioned. Maybe those kids have (presumably young) mothers who are able to work full-time jobs that provide for those kids. Maybe the kids have grandparents comfortable enough to provide the essentials to them. (3/?)

And some small percentage of those kids will, in a couple years have a dad playing in the NFL. If dad lasts longer than 2 or 3 seasons, they should be set. But the vast majority of them will not. (4/?)

The primary justification for this rule is that if we let colleges pay kids then it would allow a small set of rich schools to dominate the sport, the way the Ivy League schools dominated it in the early decades of the sport. (5/?)

MCFC VS KBFC match thread

Both teams setup more or less same, having playing the game in midfield. It was a usual MCFC XI and puieta was introduced for KBFC. We'll straight away get to some points

1.KBFC Buildup and MCFCs plan to take it out.

Kerala would build up through Jeackson dropping in between the 2 CBs and Vicente and Facundo taking the half spaces ahead as two 8s. Sahal and Puieta took up the wide channels behind Murray

MCFC had a very good plan against this KBFC build up. They took out the holding midfielder mostly Jeackson. The front 2 will be pressing the CBs by blocking out the passing lanes to Jeackson Singh

The wide midfielders will be pressing KBFC fullbacks which made the build up tricky. Costa here was made to pass out a long pass to Vicente who was intercepted .

Something I saw in United v Villa last night. We don't teach it enough at most levels of the game. What would the vast majority of teams do, if they were in Villa's situation, and were awarded a free kick here?

For wannabe runners ...

Run only 3-4 days a week , Plan long run in the weekend , 2 days mandatory strength training ,( boring as hell ) , but has to be done , 1 day complete rest - Work on glute stability & balance , largely underrated , walk as much as you can .

I am a long distance runner , means I love running 100 miles & more in extenuating circumstances , this drives me . To stay healthy 40 km's is enough , don't stretch until & unless you are having a specific goal in mind .

Talent: The great paradox.

Paradox in that it exists and equally it is something of a myth.

But how can something both be real and fake at the same time?

Well, it is not really fake, I believe we just have a very fake understanding of talent that is widely accepted as truth but infact is false and has dire consequences

Lets take Persons A and B for example who do the same task. A does a fairly good job while B produces magnificent results.

In the situation where both were largely unknown, the general interpretation is that B is a huge talent! Or B is a genius or some other related narration

This narration is flawed in that it takes into no account how both A and B came to arrive at the point of said task so how could their performance be accurately ascribed to just 'talent?

Perhaps B had a great teacher and A had a poor one?

Perhaps B was introduced to said task at age 5 and had 10 years of accumulated experience before A was introduced to said task?

Perhaps B just put in more effort into honing their craft than A?
