11 years on Twitter. The world changed in these 11 years

In last 11 year of Twitter. I witnessed Twitter from being a democracy & freedom tool to become a tool of RW hate.

11 years ago Hindutva was bunch of organized trolls with hidden faces. Now they’re with blue tick openly give genocide threats.

11 years ago there was no IMT. There were individual online Muslim activist like @brumbyoz , @OpusOfAli couple of others & myself. Most Muslims were backing seculars hoping they’ll combined defeat the Hindutwa. It never happened. Hindutva went strength to strength. No surprises

11 years ago we were handful of online Muslim activist. I was a freelance journalist I spoke my mind & shared my blogs & articles. I was vocal yet balanced. Not as straightforward as now. Over the years I became more of a harsh critic of not only hindutva but also liberal Hindus

The reason why I focus so much on North India particularly UP & Delhi Muslims is because they are the weak link.

In UP its SP, BSP & Congress

Mark my words. The day Muslims of UP get their act together to form own political strength & representation, it will change the course of Indian politics. It will not just affect the North Indian politics but the entire country. It’s directly connected to future of Indian Muslims

Muslims of UP account for almost 19% population. SP & BSP rule the Muslims were the trump card needed to form the Govt but they were part of the ruling party. It would’ve been better Instead of that had had UP Muslims won those seats from own party & did a coalition with SP, BSP

When SP & BSP formed Govt in UP with support of Muslim voters. They just kept the local Muslim leaders happy. Some got cabinet post. Others made millions & it did benefit like Jauhar Uni etc but it was always short term fragile gain, Subject to the ruling Govt. As Yogi changed it

SP & BSP used Muslims to get power but never took any concrete measures to empower Muslims. SP promised reservations but never implemented it. Did not hire large number of Muslims in police or PAC. Gave frivolous perks holiday on Shab-e-barat & allowed to wear caps in school
