I’m remembering how much I love about Brazil 🇧🇷 today. I’ve traveled almost all over the country over the past decade here, and I thought maybe I should share my very favorite places.😻 Thread, share with your friends who want to visit #Brazil!👇

(1) I’m a beach bunny, & Brazil provides endless beaches for me to explore. Several of my favorites are in a rarely-visited area along the south coast of Paraíba state in the Northeast. Pink cliffs juxtapose turquoise waters like a painting, & the forests are awesome for hikes.

(2) Brazil has a ton of really special colonial towns. Paraty is wonderful, but I often get annoyed by crowds & rain. The town I prefer is #OuroPreto in Minas Gerais. The air there is so brisk & fresh, the people are so kind, and all I want to do when I’m there is stroll forever.

(3) To get away from it all, I go to the far north of the country, to the remote beaches between Jericoacoara & Lençóis Maranhenses. Along this coast, the environment is rugged & rough, & you can walk forever without seeing anyone. It’s my favorite place for sex on the beach. 😇

(4) My favorite Brazilian city is #RiodeJaneiro. It’s the most touristy place in Brazil & I think it should be. I feel genuinely sorry for someone who doesn’t get the chance to hear samba, or see the incredible mountains, or people-watch on the beach. It never gets old.

On my 3 year nomadiversary, I'm looking at 1 yr apartment leases.
It's a whole new level of culture shock being home in 🇺🇸 again. I'm ready to be in one place but also feel like a part of my identity and community is being stripped away.

I'll spend the rest of 2019 rediscovering magic.

Travel took up so much of my energy that now that I'm done, I'm not sure what else brings me a sense of wonder. I need to relearn who I am and what feels right.

1/ Total freedom isn't always your friend.

I always thought the goal was 100% location independence, where I can pick and choose anywhere to live. This has it's perks for sure, but it has more drawbacks than I'd like to admit.

2/ I've lived in 3 countries over 24 months (unintentional nomad). Currently looking for a place to get permanent residence and plant some long-term roots in LATAM.

3/ I've been on-the-ground in 7 LATAM countries, and tbh the more cities I visit, the harder it is for me to know where it is I should be.

4/ There's not a ton holding me to any one place now that my team works remotely, and every place on earth, no matter how perfect, has it's drawbacks.

5/ If I take an in-office job I really want in a place that's 70% optimal, it's easier IMO to commit to that place than if I'm working remotely in a place that's 90% optimal. Why? Because there's real consequences if I decide to leave (losing the job).
