Valamchuzy Bhuvaneshwary Kshetram is an old temple, surrounded by Achankovil river. The name Valamchuzhi is derived from the fact that the Achankovil river flows on three sides of the temple.

It is the only temple in South India which is surrounded by a river.

Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple is located at Kundrathur near Chennai. This is the only temple, where Bhagwan Muruga is facing North.
Sthala Puranam says that, after conquering Tarakasura, 👇

at Thiruporur, Subramanya was leaving to Thiruthani, when he saw the Kundrathur mountain. Murugar decided to stay here sometime. Later Subrahmanya did Prathista of a Shiva Lingam in the foot of the hill. This Shiva Lingam is called Kandhaleeswarar. Garbhagriham of this temple

is very unique. Murugar is worshipped here with Valli and Deivanai taai. But we can see only Murugar if standing straight to Sannidhi. If we stand in the side, left or right, either Valli or Deivanai Taai can be worshipped.

Legend is
A ruling King was cursed by sage Durvasa and lost all his physical strength and powers. To get rid of the curse, he was asked to feed people everyday. One day, Maha Vishnu disguised himself👇

as an old man, appeared before the king and asked for a meal. The king kept on feeding him. The old man consumed all the food prepared. The king was shocked at this. The old man asked for a kudam (pot) of Neyyaappam (a sweet dish), stating that only it can fulfill his hunger.

King fulfilled the wish and later realised that it was Vishnu who had appeared as the old man. Thus king was relieved of the curse. As a pot filled with Appam pleased Bhagwan, Moolavar is called Appakudathan (Appam & Kudam)

Thirunavaya Navamukunda Temple

Situated on the banks of River Bharatappuzha, Navamukunda Kshetram is one among 108 Divya Desams of Maha Vishnu. Temple is very famous for Pithrtarpanam (Bali Tarpanam). Temple is said to be 5000 years old.

Sthala Puranam says that Navayogis, the sons of Hrishabha while wandering found Salagrama from Gantaki River. The Eldest Navayogi, did Prathishta of Salagrama in Thirunavaya but it sank into earth. Later the 7 brothers also did the same but all Salagrama deeply sank into earth.

The 9th yogi, understood why all the Salagrama sank. It was because proper rituals should be performed at the time of the Prathishta. He did Prathishta of Salagrama, as Mukunda giving Moksham to the departed souls with all rituals.Thus name of Temple came as Nava Mukunda temple.

Mamankam was done here earlier every 12 years. It is believed that Gajendra Moksham happened here. Bali Tarpanam is famous here. Thousands of people come here to perform Tarpanam. As Trimurthy's stay here, the ashes of departed souls can also be immersed here.

Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple is a cave temple and this is situated on the Mangalagiri. Mangalagiri is one of the Ashta swayamvyaktha Kshetram of Maha Vishnu. Mangala Giri hills have three temples.

They are Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Panakala Narasimha Swamy, Gandala Narasimha swamy.

In the Panakala Narasimha Swamy temple, we cannot see the Vigraham of Narasimha but mouth which opened wide. Here we can offer Panakam( jaggery water ) to Swamy

We can observe a gurgling sound while pouring this jaggery water into the mouth of Swamy. This will happen every time the we pour the jaggery water.
There are no traces of ant forming near Swamy or near Panakam.
It is said that Vishnu has told Devas that offering Panakam 👇

will cool down his anger after killing demon Namuchi, which was in Krithayugam. Bhagwan said that he would be satisfied with ghee in Threthayugam, with milk in Dwaparayugam and with panakam(Jaggery water) in Kaliyugam.

There are more than 500 temples in this city. The only temple in the world for Brahma Deva is situated here.
Brahma once tried to kill a demon named Vajranabh with his lotus.

After killing demon, Brahma wished to perform yajna to clean himself from this killing. During the Yajna, Saraswati Devi wasn’t present there so to complete ritual Brahma married Gayatri, and completed the yajna. On arrival when Saraswati Devi came to know about Gayatri,

She got furious and cursed Brahma to not to be worshipped anywhere, but later feeling sad told that Brahma’s temple will be here in Pushkar only. According to the people the temple is more than 2000 years old.

Thiruvambady Sri Krishna Temple is considered as a Mahakshetram and is one among the participant of famous Thrissur Pooram.

Story says that, the Krishna Vigraham was worshipped at Edakkalathur. The people wanted to protect the Vigraham as villagers faced difficulties. So, they carried the Vigraham to Namboodiri of Kachanappilly illam and thus Prathishta was done here.

The Story of Bhagavathy is related with Kodungallur Amma. Kachanappilly illam were devotees of Kodungallur Bhaghavathy and due to their Bhakthi Devi came to their illam. The chaitanyam was later transferred to the garbha griham here.

Some talks about Sanskrit, made me write about the Beautiful Story of Bhoja Raja, which was there in my Sanskrit lessons. This is a moral for many of us to follow. Hope everyone will gets its meaning.

Raja Bhoj:-

Bhoja Raja was an honest king. He was well versed in Sanskrit👇

He has honoured many Scholars in his court.

One day Queen was talking with a Pandit's wife in her room. Bhoja Raja was in a hurry and he entered the room to ask Queen something( that does not matter here). Queen stopped talking and called King "MOORKHA" which means fool.

King was totally surprised by this. He didn't get angry to the Queen nor he asked the reason to her. But he was very much disturbed and wanted to know the reason
Rajasabha began and many Pandit's were in the Sabha. King thought of a plan and he called all the Pandit's "MOORKHA"👇

So that he can get his answer without telling.
Everyone were taken aback by this attitude of King. Many went away from the sabha feeling insulted. At that time a great Pandit came and King repeated the same words. Pandit replied to the king
हे राजन

खदन्न गछामी हसन्न भाषे
घतं न शोचमी कृतं न मन्ये
द्वाब्यां तृतीयो न भवामी राजन
किम कारनाम भोज भवामी मूर्खह:
Meaning

Beautiful Story of how this unique tradition of Anayottam ( Elephant Race )started.
Anayottam is conducted to select which elephant should carry Thidambu of Guruvayoorappan.

Anayottam starts from Manjulalthara and ends at the eastern entrance of Temple. Anayottam marks the starting of 10 day Annual festival.

Guruvayur temple was under the control of
Trikkana mathilakam temple.

For Guruvayur temple festivals, Elephants were brought from Trikkana mathilakam temple. Once because of some misunderstandings Mathilakam temple authorities refused to send Elephants to Guruvayur. They chained the Elephants with strong Iron Chains.

Breaking the chains by themselves, Elephants started running towards Guruvayur. Clinging sounds of bells were heard from Manjulalthara. In memory of this event, Anayottam is held every year in Guruvayur temple.

Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama Temple is the only temple in Kerala, with Parashurama Prathishta Temple is located near the banks of Karamana river. Trimoorthy's Bhrahma, Vishnu and Paramashiva are 👇

worshipped here in different sannidhi. Separate Dwajasthambam is there for both Shiva and Parashurama Sannidhi.

Temple was built by Vilwamangalam Swamy, a great devotee of Maha Vishnu.
When Vilwamangalam Swamy was travelling through this way, he felt the presence of Parashurama

And thus Prathishta was done here. Chaturbahu Vigraham has Mazhu( Parashurama's weapon) instead of Mahavishnu's Lotus.
Bali Tarpanam ritual which is performed for the ancestors are famous here.

It is said that Adi Shankaracharya performed his mother's Tarpanam here. By doing Tarpanam here departed souls attains Moksham.

Kaviyoor Mahadevar Temple is one of the important Siva temples in Kerala which is also called Thrikkaviyoor Mahadeva Temple. The temple is famous for the Hanuman Prathishta inside.

Kandiyoor Mahadeva Temple is located on the banks of Achankovil River in Mavelikkara. Kshetram is one of the 108 Shiva Temples in Kerala, also called Dakshina Kashi.

Mrikandu Muni who was taking a bath in the Ganga river, got a Vigraham of Parama Shiva in the form of Kiratha Murthy. As he took hold of the Vigraham, he heard a voice saying to take the Vigraham to a place of his wish, and to do Prathishta there.

Mrikandu Muni started his journey in search of a suitable place. Finally, he reached the banks of Achankovil River and felt, it was a suitable place. He did Prathishta here, and thus is story of Kandiyoor Temple, which was previously called Kandathil Nalla ooru( beautiful place

ever seen).

Bhagwan is called Kandiyoorappan and is worshiped in three forms or bhavas. In the morning the rituals will be conducted to as Dakshina Murthy, in the noon Umamaheswara Bhavam and in the evening it is as Kiratha Murthy.

Story says that once there lived a Namboodiri at Kuzhippuram Illam. He went to Mookambika with an intention to worship Devi and seeking her blessings to have a son. He spend years in the temple and returned home

On return, at Panachikkadu he placed his Olakuda ( Umbrella) down and went to bath. Namboodiri was not able to lift the Umbrella later, but heard a voice telling that Devi Mookambika was with him accompanying in the Umbrella. Thus Prathishta of Devi was done here.

Saaraswatha Grutham is given to the children from the temple which is a medicine for boosting memory power by the blessings of Devi.

There was a Namboodiri called Moopil Narayanan Kartha, who was an ardent devotee of Guruvayurappan. He settled down in Guruvayoor so that he could daily worship Guruvayurappan. But, after a few years, his family members requested Moopil Narayanan Kartha to return to his house in

Cheranallore (near Chittoor). But, he was not willing to leave Guruvayur.That night, Shri Krishna came to his dream and said that, wherever Namboodiri goes, Krishna will accompany him in his Umbrella.

Namboodiri thus began his travel and reached Cheranallore Since he was tired👇

he his Umbrella down and later he couldnt lift it. Namboodiri understood Krishna's presence and decided to construct a temple there and this is where the present Shri Krishna Kshetram is located. Temple is situated in south chitoor near backwaters

Temple was maintained by a particular family in which couples Vasudeva and Sridevi was childless,👇

even after doing many poojas. They started praying to Nagaraja to bring an end to their sorrow. At that time, a fire broke out in the jungle around the place of Nagaraja and brunt down the area.
Hundreds of Nagas stayed there were injured.

The couple who saw this took care of all snakes. They poured ghee mixed with honey and oil on the wounds and cooled their bodies with sandalwood paste. They did poojas to Nagas using turmeric powder, coconut water, bananas, milk etc.
Nagaraja, who was greatly pleased

appeared before the couple and said that he would incarnate as their son and would assume the form of Naga and stay here permanently.
