Śivan Kovil(Shiva Temple) destroyed in Tamilnadu !! 1/6
Śrī Kanaka Kālīśvarar is one of the 108 important Siva temples located around Kanchi Kāmākśī
The temple is shaped like a huge Sivalingam and includes all the Parivāra Devatās of Śiva. It is administered by sincere devotees following the Saivāgama śāstras. 2/6
The temple premises is (was!) very serene and is referred as Thirugnana Sambandar Tapobhumi, named after one of the most important Nayanars (Tamil Saivite poet-saint).
Atleast hundred people are offered complete food here daily free of cost All expenses are borne by devotees.3/6
A day ago TN government officials barbarically destroyed this ancient and beautiful temple premises!
Hindu devotees first resisted, and begged, after police brutality, for some time to atleast evacuate the mūrtis of Devi & Devatās.
They were given no time 4/6
The reason given was same, just like other temples destroyed by government, that temple is an enroachment on water body
Temples have existed on the banks of rivers, and other Waterbodies for centuries! Rather it's almost mandatory for a Śiva temple to be situated near water 5/6
