Chendanar his clerk
pattinathar went to Kashi Himalaya and many pilgrimage as when he returned he saw his clerk chendanar harassed by king and jailed. King wants to cease pattinatar property and add them to his treasury. pattinathar argued and released him.

chendanar went chidambaram with his wife and taken wood cutters job and lived meager life. then too he never left bhakti of Shiva. and served Shiva devotees with food. one day he couldn't find Shiva devotees and was very sad. that night sanyasi came and asked for food.

he doesn't have proper off meals so he prepared kazhi with mashedraagi.Sanyasi ate and went .Sanyasi taken leftover kazhi in his cloth bag .when next day priest opened chidambaram Temple they found Kali all over nataraja.

From that day during arudra every year kazhi offered to nataraja.Once chidambaram chariot didn't move chendanar sang thirupallandu and it moved.chendanar lived his life as Shiva devotee.his songs are contain in shaiva thirumurai

Pattinatar life and bhadragiri dog

He retrieved dead boy to life in temple.during his mother's last moment he came and he cremated her. One dog became friend with bhadragiri when pattinathar ask the food he told to ask food from samsari indicating bhadragiri attachment with dog.
