Let's get started with Tip # 1...
1) Understand WHY

Doing market research is like digging for gold aka that BIG idea that guarantees people will buy from you.

This gold tells us:
> What people think
> How people feel
> What problems they have
> WHAT THEY WILL BUY

If we can answer these questions...
then we will know EXACTLY

> What to build
> Which words we use to persuade them to buy

BEFORE we spend a single minute of our precious time and effort

Building a product
Creating a service offer
Writing a book

Market research = Having our own treasure map to the gold
2) Join their communities

First step to learning more about your customer is to hang out where they hang out.

-Study their lingo
-Identify their problems
-Hear their stories
-Take part in discussions
-Give FREE value
-OBSERVE
3) Enter their mind

First thing you need to understand is how they look at the world.

- What beliefs do they have?
- What values do they hold?
- What people do they admire?

Understanding their worldview helps us position our product in a way that makes sense to them.
4) Discover their main problems

People don't buy products. They buy solutions.

Good market research reveals our customer's biggest problems.

When you have your market research down to a system

then building products that PRINT MONEY is as simple as...
building a bridge which connects their problems to their solution.

If market research is having our own treasure map

then our customer's big problems is the compass that leads us to the gold.

All we have to do is follow the compass to "X" and start digging.
5) Go treasure hunting regularly

If you want to make money consistently then you have to turn treasure hunting into a habit.

Structure time weekly/monthly to do market research.

When you do this:
-creating content people will consume
-building products people will buy

is easy
6) Trust the process

A lot of new marketers balk at market research because it seems boring af and overly simple.

"You want me to scour through these forums for hours to find a profitable idea?"

But market research is what separates the Pros from the wannabes

The truth is...
most of the successful entrepreneurs, marketers and writers you see

aren't doing anything special.

All they did was find a treasure map, find where "X" was located, and dig until they hit gold.

Now imagine how easy making money would be if you had access to this map?

1) Steal attention with a strong Headline

A reader's decision to read the body copy lives or dies on the strength of your headline.

Your goal is to make the reader curious enough to read the first few sentences.

If you got the reader to sentence number two or three, congrats.

2) Hook 'em or lose 'em

The headline tickles the reader's curiosity but the hook is what gets them invested into the key message of your piece.

Like the opening scene of a suspense movie, the hook should pull the reader in.

At this point you should have their full attention.

3) Guide them down a slippery slope

Good writing should read as if you're sliding down a slippery slope.

Noticed I said guide... NOT push.

You're taking the reader on a journey from A to B and it should feel effortless and have a natural flow from one sentence to the next.

A THREAD ON SL, TSL AND RE-ENTRIES-


WHERE TO PUT THE SL-

1. NEAREST PIVOT/SWING POINTS-

Normally I use this method for placing sl, In this method we use swing point for placing the SL.

As normally the stock would not try to go below previous swing point if it is to go in our direction.


2. ATR method-

Sometimes the Stock do not have any nearest pivot at time of buy, So we use this method as it gives us a level on basis of current volatility of the stock.

I use 1.5 ATR away sl , say the ATR at point of entry is 30, so I place sl
1.5 X, or 45 rs away from entry

In below example the entry is 120, ATR=5, SL= 1.5X ATR= 7.5 OR 113.

Nearest pivot was too far away, that’s why this method is used in these cases.


4. Anchor candles-

Anchor bars are those which have extreme Volume, gaps or wide Ranges.

Here, we place our sl below those candles which has the above characteristics.

The entire thread will have some quick pointers on options trading. These bullet points are based on experience and learning and even if you are completely new,will help you to build some perspective. So,lets go :

-When new,prefer trading monthly options over weekly options to reduce risk
-Set up your trades with greater than 50% Probability Of Profit
- Use implied volatility in your decision making process
-Book some trades at 50% of max profit i.e. locking of profit incase u are buyer

-Don’t adjust losing defined risk strategies. A lot of people get into the bad habit of averaging and run the risk of losing a lot
-Diversify your portfolio across product, direction, and time,this has to be considered while you are planning to put in multiple strikes in folio

-Short Strangles are one of our go-to strategies because of their high probability of profit and increased profit potential.A little effort with understanding of volatility would help
-Allocate no more than 5% of your account to any one trade

-Trade small, trade often to increase your number of occurrences. Some might deny but this works
-In options you might have heard of spreads.Multiple options legs create an options spread. For example, a short strangle consists of selling a call and selling a put simultaneously.

Working on some execution optimisation related backtesting. I have so far been executing with market orders only. Going towards higher lot sizes, I'd like to optimise for minimal slippage.

First off, on NSE, if you place a market order, you get filled at the best bid/ask right?

If we want to optimise this, the first non-creative idea one can think of is, slicing the order into different lot sizes, and placing a limit order for each slice at the mid point of current best bid & ask.

But this requires your latency to be the least.

Why would latency affect it?

I looked at tick historical data, and there are more than 18-20 ticks in a second (auction and quote combined).

Even if you keep 10 ticks per second, your best bid/ask can shift from the time you place to the time exchange receives the order.

So, the next best thing that people can do is place tranches of orders every 1s, 3s, 5s, 10s, 15s - in their preferred time range, and get filled at the midpoint or best-bid+1/2/3/4/5 in the depth.

What you need is liquidity.

But if you're trading breakouts, then it's highly likely that your limit orders may not get filled if the action is too fast.

So, a retry mechanism is required in such cases.

If nothing works, you convert your orders to marketable and get filled at worse slippage.

After going through two phases of a traders journey, the initial success phase, and Only why do i get loss phase, Traders enter the third phase -

THE SEARCH FOR THE HOLY GRAIL PHASE.

This phase has no limits, It can end in 1 month and it may not end till lifetime.

What exactly is this phase?

When a trader covers all the basics, they know how to lower their losses, they know the power of risk management.

And few of them may even develop their edges and systems over time.

But after some time, they feel that they are doing something wrong and there is more to trading than what they know.


THEN COMES THE HOLY GRAIL PART-

Few of them start to Read more books about trading,finding articles about “How to win 100% of the time” and listening to Youtube videos of few big traders who make big in trading.

The 1% Rule 🧵

The 1% Rule states that you should risk, at most, 1% of your total account on every individual trade.

This 1% risk is a function of two flexible components:

• Your Position Size: % of your account in the trade
• Your Trade Risk: % between your entry price and your stop loss

Want to take a larger position size? Make your stop tighter.

Trading a volatile stock? Size down on the trade.


The most important aspect of trading is risk management.

It's great to make money, but worthless if you don't have a system to keep it.

Over 50% of my trades are losses, but I'm still profitable because of the 1% Rule.

Keep losses small & let winners run!

"Nick, 1% risk isn't enough, my account is small."

New traders are EXACTLY who benefits the most!

By limiting each trade's potential losses to 1% it will take you:

• 29 straight losses to fall 25%
• 69 straight losses to fall 50%

It's tough to be that consistently bad 😅

Another belief is that once Shiva beheaded Brahma and his skull got stuck in Shiva’s hand. He was cursed that till the skull is not full of food or grains, it will remain stuck to his hands.


Shiva went everywhere and asked for food but the skull was never full. He finally came here and Maa Annapoorna filled the skull with grains and reversed Shiva’s curse.

It is believed that who ever visits Devi Annapoorna here will never be without food in their lives.

You should start promoting yourself and building your audience before you have a finished product or even before you have a great idea that you want to build.

3. Don’t wait to start building your audience after you’ve launched a product.

Most first-time developers actually ignore marketing.

They’re oblivious to the challenge of attracting people to take a look at something they’ve created.

4. At least until they see their first project crash and burn within hours of the launch.

There are so many times that I have seen developers spend countless hours building something, releasing it with no fanfare...

5. and only then trying to figure out how to promote it by asking marketing questions on Indie Hackers, Quora or Hacker News. Don’t make that mistake.
