This is a thread on @EspinaNonoy ‘s FB which clearly shows what he means by a “mob howling for blood” — calling for summary execution of the killer cop. What follows is his post on the “attempt to twist the narrative of the uproar that followed the Paniqui executions.” (More)

The new lie, he notes, “blithely claims that so-called human rights advocates he been calling for the lynching of the cop and his kid while Duterte's disciples sought a trial.” (More)
“The truth is - and this is so easy to check on social media - the mob howling for blood, including that of the child, was made up of BOTH pro- and anti-Duterte partisans, though predominantly the former” (more)
“many professing shock and outrage at the double murder even as their social media accounts cheered on the deaths of drug suspects and, later, of activists-terrorists-who-the-fuck-cared-about-the-difference.”
“As for the many human rights advocates I know, and they come from the different colors of the political spectrum, I can vouch that they erupted in righteous anger, demanding justice, but not a single one of them even hinted of wanting the killer cop summarily executed.”
“Then again, as the Bard famously wrote: "“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose..." Which means, yes, any idiot can pretend to be a human rights advocate and then scream bloody murder on social media. “
“Why, even the promoter-in-chief of murder and mayhem proclaimed that he was "proud that the Philippines is one of the few countries that signed many of the world’s core human rights treaties. ...”
“Which must be the biggest joke in four and a half years of "patayin ko kayo" and "shoot them dead."
No one, of course, took him seriously “ (more)
“a few days later the ICC's Office of the Prosecutor released its report on preliminary examinations this year saying there was "a reasonable basis to believe that the crimes against humanity of murder, torture and the infliction of serious physical injury and mental harm...”
“At any rate, the only way to prove the claim that human rights advocates indeed called for the death of the policeman and his child is to present proof, name them, quote them. I am betting no names are forthcoming. “
“Which makes all this a canard, a blanket accusation meant to smear all who labor to protect and advance human rights, no different from red-tagging, all concocted by cowards and mercenaries.” #30

This is trash, @AP. Utter garbage. Shame on the “journalists” who wrote this (really? You needed 2 people to report out this garbage?) Also, you don’t even make clear that this lady is wrong. You treat it as a legitimate position. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Look at this. This treats both views as legitimate. Fucking garbage.

Have you learned nothing?! This is such bullshit. Why the fuck do I even bother trying to push back on bad journalism? No one in positions of power ever listen.

I used to think that bad journalism was mostly the result of honest mistakes, but the past few years have really hammered home for me how much it is intentional trash. Shame on @AP for that bullshit. Shame on @ABC for letting Rand Paul rant about his election conspiracy theories.

Seriously, @AP @ClaireGalofaro @JulietLinderman? You didn’t even bother to note that this lady’s delusions are false.
