Thread #Hathras

Sources : The charge sheet filed by CBI in the #HathrasCase is filled with flaws and three innocents have been roped in as accused, in spite of them having strong alibis.

While the prime accused did commit the act and there is strong evidence against him, 1/n

the remaining three were implicated only based on their ‘tower location’ of their cell phones. Two of the accused who are implicated were employees of a dairy located a kilometre away from the scene of crime (SoC) and witnesses working in the dairy, 2/n
had given statements that the two accused were working in the dairy at the time of crime. The other innocent accused was present in a place away from SoC and witnesses had deposed that he too was not in the SoC.

CBI comprises fine officers with investigating skills. 3/n
They always do their job with due diligence keeping in mind the reputation of India’s premiere investigating agency. But, superiors, who are IPS officers on deputation to CBI always toe the line of the ruling regime and act as mercenaries. 4/n
Highly placed sources in CBI say, the Director of Prosecution of CBI, one Ms Sudha Rani concurred with the findings of the investigating officers that only one accused need to be charge sheeted. Ajay Bhatnagar, a 1989 batch officer of Jharkhand cadre, 5/n
who is now an Addl Director in CBI mounted pressure on the Director of Prosecution Ms. Sudha Rani and forced her to review her own opinion of charge sheeting just one accused. All this is on record. 6/n
Ajay Bhatnagar, IPS is involved in the fake encounter of murder of 14 people, in Jharkhand before he came to CBI. Following the complaint of family members of the victims of the fake encounter, CBI took up investigation. 7/n
One NP Mishra, Dy SP submitted complaints about the involvement of Ajay Bhatnagar in the fake encounters to PMO, CVC and other agencies.

Sensing this, Ajay Bhatnagar who had come to CBI by the time complaints were filed against him, 8/n
ensured that the complainant NP Mishra, DSP, is punished. NP Mishra, following the vindictive action against him moved the High Court against his victimisation. In his petition before the High Court, NP Mishra DSP said the following : 9/n
“From the fear of getting exposed by my complaints, he (AK Bhatnagar) is abusing his official position and has filed a petition in High Court Delhi for early hearing in the case. One can understand the uneasiness of Bhatnagar 10/n
when the matter is fixed for hearing in a week time, he is filing a petition for early hearing. It is, therefore, once again requested that services of AK Bhatnagar in CBI must be terminated at once for benefit of the organisation”._ 11/n
This is the same Ajay Bhatnagar, IPS, who has ensured that three innocents are implicated in the #HathrasCase which may end up in capital punishment. @PMOIndia must immediately review this case and ensure that innocents do not face the gallows. 12/n
As early as 1785 AD, US scholar Benjamin Franklin said, “it is better 100 guilty Persons should escape than that one innocent Person should suffer" which is followed by all democratic countries. 13/13
